December 1 Progress

Good Morning! I did get the Christmas tree decorated last night. Normally we have tinsel on the tree,  but because there are puppies running around our house, we thought maybe it should be skipped this year. I do miss the tinsel and the sparkles.  We have put the tree up in the family room this year because of the construction going on upstairs. We spend more time down here anyway.🎄🎄🎄

Mandy filled my advent stocking for me this year. I am so excited. I can’t figure out where to hang it up though. For the time being I have it laying on the Hoosier cabinet shelf.

The first gift on day one was this sweet little candle. It smells so good! The snowman is just one of the snowmen in my collection. My thought is to take a photo of the gift with a different snowman every day.

How is your first day in December? It is supposed to be in the 60s here today! That is amazing. Tomorrow is supposed to break the record for warmth on that day in history.

Construction is proving interesting already. The plumber is here all day today to put in the new tub and shower surround. We purchased both a few months ago and they’ve been sitting quietly in our garage just waiting for this big day. Guess what? I believe we may have inherited Debbie‘s renovation gremlins. 😮 The shower surround was cracked in two places. We seriously have not touched it since the day they delivered it from the store. So, the plumber helped Dennis load it back into our pick up and he took it back to Lowe’s. He was told they couldn’t get a new surround until tomorrow. Well that won’t work. The plumber is here today. Miraculously they found another one for us and he just got home with it. Hopefully this one will not have any cracks in it when they open it. I also just heard the plumber yell upstairs to his helper that solder is leaking down into the basement. Whatever that means. 🤷‍♀️

See you tomorrow with an update!

Blessings,
Betsy

  1. Remodeling is an adventure in COVID times! Your tree is lovely. I’m debating about bringing mine out of storage.

  2. Lovely Christmas tree! I hope your bathroom work gets done soon. Soder is something that is from something he gets away from what he's working on. I remember Phil using it years ago. We had some warm days this week. High 50s but got cooler when the clouds took over yesterday. I am staying home and working on things needed to be done instead of looking for a job. Nice advent mittens! Have a good day!

  4. Oh, no....any time you do anything to a house there are always surprises I've discovered. We've just finished the tiling-for the second time and will be on to the plumbing next week, hopefully. Who knows what horrors await us there.

  5. Oh no! Hope your renovations don't have any more "issues." Your tree is lovely Betsy. We are still debating/talking/trying to decide what to do for a Christmas tree. Mabel is a terror for sure. She would knock over a table-top tree and probably climb to the top of a regular one. Not sure what to do! but, we best figure it out soon. It is warmer here today. I had hoped to go for a walk, but that didn't happen. Tomorrow I need to go to the office EARLY (since mammogram in the afternoon), It is supposed to be even warmer. Colin will be over for dinner and Fletch is going to grill steaks. That makes me happy:)

  8. Oh dear!! I hope there are no more glitches in the renovations.
Your tree is so lovely. I can understand why you wouldn't have tinsel on your tree this year. Just too tempting for some little imp.
In response to the comment you left on my very serious face. I'm really quite cheerful underneath but I tend to look very serious a lot of the time. You sure not the first to mention that.

  12. My neighbor decided to use an old plain tree instead of her new flocked one with her new puppy - for the same reason you are foregoing the tinsel! I remember when we went without hot water for a week until a new tank came in. They took it out of the box in my house and there was a big crack. They tried to sell it to me at a discount, but I was smart enough to say "No way". Of course that just meant another week of cold showers. It sounds like the project is really moving along! And your tree is beautiful. The little advent stockings are so sweet and I hope you do post a different snowman every day.

  13. Your tree is still lovely. I always love when they light up a dark room. Haven't put a big tree up in many years. Sounds like you've got a lot going on over there. Construction of any sort usually has some hiccups of one kind or another, big or small.
Hope it's all sorted very soon. The advent calendar is such a nice daily treat. There's a few YouTubers who are posting daily in December so that's my daily pleasure. Plus, I'm also going to try and blog each day this month seeing as I've not blogged in two months. Thanks for stopping by my corner of the world. I know I can always count on you to be there. I miss Teresa for that very reason. So much has changed in the past two years. Sending hugs and blessings your way. Cuddles for the pups. Take care.

  14. Oh, the joys of remodeling! I do hope they don't run into any more trouble. It is all so frustrating, and I am not patient at all and want things done yesterday! LOL! Your tree looks SO pretty! I love your tree skirt, too, and am assuming you made it. You do such lovely work. God bless you, sweet friend.

  16. I think those gremlins wander the country looking for unsuspecting victims lol. John bought a $100 stove he found on facebook marketplace the day before we moved him and Aero into the rental house... only to find out the next day that the connection where the plug wires go into the stove were completely melted – and the people wouldn't take it back or return his money. (We've since leanred this couple has done this to other people.) Not much he can do at the moment. And then he found out the water pressure had a blockage in the main line, and the toilet has problems... thank goodness it being a rental he doesn't have to put out the money to fix things like those! // Why don't you hang the Advent stocking on the ledge behind the Christmas tree? I think it would be the perfect place to have it and then you can also line up some of the goodies along that ledge! Blessings to you, my friend! (P. S. I did a reply under your comment on my post.)

  17. Your tree is beautiful, even without tinsel. Good luck with the renovations. Renovations are hard enough to deal with but during the Christmas season... prayers to you! :)
