December 2

Some progress!  We now have a shower and a tub surround and one less window. The plumber spent all day here yesterday and got a lot of the work done. He will be back at the end to hook everything up. I had wanted just a shower with seats to make it easier in case Mom ends up living with us, but I was voted down as this is the only tub in the house. Everyone says for resale value we need to have a tub. I had also wanted to have a one piece tub and shower but the doorways are too narrow to get it in the house. Usually those are put in when a house is being built. We are told 3 to 4 weeks for all the work to be completed. Hopefully it will be done by Christmas, but as we are not having anyone except Mandy and Brad and other close relatives in and out this month and no big parties it’s not a big deal.

This was where the washer and dryer were. Those two knobs on top by the electrical outlet are not hooked to anything so will be removed. They must be from the original house 60 years ago and it’s been replaced with that fancier box down below. I’m excited because Dennis just asked the contractor if he would hang two cabinets above the washer and dryer instead of just the shelf I had before and he said of course, he would be glad to do it. Of course the drywall will all be patched and everything painted.

Here is my advent calendar for today. Three yummy pieces of candy! The snowman I just got off of Facebook marketplace about a week ago. I got eight snowman for a mere $20! And they are really nice. They had originally asked $50 and kept coming down in price. I love snowman and I leave them up all winter. This one and three others are about 8 inches tall, two are about 6 inches tall and the last two are 4 inches tall.

Here is the tree decorated and all lit up.

Daylight view where you can see the ornaments a little more. I have lots of angels, because I also love angels and many of the ornaments are from you my lovely blog friends.

That little bookcase you can see behind the tree there are two plastic boxes that have all of my needles and crochet hooks in them. About four years ago I finally found a method of storing them that I love. Next to the plastic boxes are some three ring binder‘s that I keep my patterns in. on top of the little bookcase is a trophy case that was left here in the house. I think it’s supposed to hold a football, but I have all of my little stuffed sheep that have been given to me as gifts by vlogging friends. They stay out all year long where I can see them from my knitting chair.

Miss Piper got her math license at school this week. I have blocked out her last name and birthdate. I hope you understand.  she is so proud of herself. She had to answer 25 math problems in 90 seconds. The last one she had to pass in order to get her license was multiplying by 12’s. And she passed! She was the third one in her class to pass and the first girl.

Mandy sent me this photo this morning before Piper went to school! Isn’t this just the cutest? These two sure love each other.

I hope all is going well with you. It is supposed to be 70° here today so Zoey and I are going to go take a walk at the cemetery in a little while.

Blessings and love,
Betsy

  3. I agree - snowmen are a winter decoration - not just christmas!
I just started putting my lights up, but I need a second string - I should have measured first!

  4. Woo hoo! That's some real progress. It took us one whole year to re-do my bathroom three years ago. One. Whole. Year...of running down to the cold basement every time I needed a tinkle or a shower. It wasn't as bad as the kitchen though. I'll NEVER do that again. I was just looking at old blog posts and this is my THIRD Christmas without a kitchen. I couldn't believe it until I saw the photos.

  8. I am glad your bathroom is partly done. You could put a bench in the tub as I know I've seen some to purchase and use in there. I enjoy seeing Piper and her puppy! I am glad she likes it! We have cupboards above our washer and dryer. I have to stand on a small stool to get things out but it works for me! I hope to get our Christmas decor out of closet and tree from the garage and put out this weekend! Take care!

  9. That Piper! She is as sweet and smart as she is pretty. I love the picture of her and her little puppy looking over the back of the couch. That would be the cutest picture to zoom in close and get just the two of them. The bathroom is looking great. Hope they get it finished soon. Oh, and your tree is so pretty. I've got to get busy and do a little decorating.
