November Challenge Day 29

Today’s challenge question is an easy one for me. I’m supposed to tell you what is in my make up bag. I don’t have a make up bag. Pretty much the only thing I use is Chapstick year-round and in the winter I use Oil of Olay on my face at night because my skin dries out so much. That’s it. About 10 years ago I developed an allergy to most make up. I’ve tried hypoallergenic mascara and eyeshadow and I still have an allergic reaction, so now I don’t use anything. Dennis is just fine with no make up, in fact, he prefers it and it sure makes life easy.

Since I finished the question so quickly I’ll show you a few other things that happened around here today.

Jenny brought my filled Christmas socks back! I crocheted a chain and fastened it to the bottom of the cabinets with Command hooks.  Then, just touching the tops of the socks so I wouldn’t feel what might be inside, I clothes-pinned them to the chain. I love how it turned out.

I moved the tree to the back window so everyone can see it at night as they drive or walk by. I have it sitting on a tray covered with a kitchen towel. I didn’t have any festive Christmas cloth to put on the tray and I’m not about to go shopping to buy one, so that will have to do. I went outside and looked in the window and it looks so happy and cheerful.

Look how cute the socks are hanging there on the chain. Some are lumpy and some are almost flat!  I’m looking forward to opening them every morning in December. I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning.🎄I honestly have no clue as to what is inside any of them.

We got an email from the manager of the RV park. There is going to be a Christmas decorating contest that will be judged on December 23. They have two large gift baskets to give to the winners. We are not competing. We know that our lights are “small potatoes” compared to some of the spots. Some people have gone all out. We’ll have to take a walk around later in December and take some pictures and share them with you. This manager tries to make sure there are fun things happening all of the time. She even did a socially distanced Halloween bash for the children in the park. I thought that was very thoughtful of her because it’s not included as part of her job and sure makes a lot of extra work for her.

I think Dennis would just be just as glad not to have all of the stuff sitting around the RV and putting lights out, etc. But he humors me. He is a good man. All I have to do is suggest something and he jumps right up and takes care of it. I am a lucky, lucky woman and I know it.

We put a string of white Christmas lights out on the bush and stick-like tree in front of our spot. There aren’t a lot of lights, but I do love white lights and even just a few look festive. On the right in the picture, you can see the projector that our neighbors have set up on the side of their trailer with snowflakes that move around.  You can also see a little bit of it in the picture above too.

I think Command strips are the best thing ever invented for RV’ers! I have a waterproof one on the outside next to the door, where I have this Merry Christmas sign hung.

I was watching the news this evening and things sure don’t sound good out there with COVID. It seems a lot of people ignored the recommendations to not gather in large groups for Thanksgiving and over 1 million people flew last Wednesday alone in the U.S. I can’t believe it. Is no one listening out there? I think we’re destined to have a lot of people sick in the next few weeks. A vaccine can’t come quickly enough for me. Are any of you going to get it as soon as you can? I hear a lot of people saying they don’t want to get it because they don’t trust it.  I can’t say for sure what I’ll do, but right this moment I would gladly get it. I would like to have my life back.  One doctor that I saw interviewed on Friday said no one is sure how long the immunity will last from the vaccine. It could be like a flu shot that we have to get every year.

I just keep reminding myself of the verse in the photo below. No matter what happens to me, I know where my final destination will be.

I hope each one of you stays healthy and takes all the precautions you can. I know most of you are. I also pray that your family is staying well too. Wishing you all a wonderful Monday.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy

  1. Those advent socks are gorgeous, and look so cute in your window. I can't wait for the vaccine either. If I had to have a jab every day, I would, if it meant I could kiss and hug my family. We've all gone through so much and the people who flout the rules make me so mad. Don't they want this pandemic to be over? Stay safe. xx

  2. Hi Betsy your wee stockings look very exciting all in a row like that... really looks fun. My makeup bag doesn't have much either. We change from our youth..probably just as well.
I still havent put my tree up yet. Will soon. Will get vaccine. I've heard antibodies are better than they thought, a baby born whose mum had Covid in its first trimester had plenty of antibodies to prevent infection.. God willing it will be so. The UK vaccine has two injections, first one low dose, second one high dose and 90% immunity which is way better than fluvax which is about 70%.
Thanks so much for sharing, and may God bless and keep you and all whom you love safe and well.
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz. X

  3. Not sure about the vaccine either Betsy but once we are invited to have it I am sure we will make the right decision based on the facts. Love your little display of socks, what fun and the tree looks adorable. I am hoping to get started with the decorations this week. Take care and stay safe.

  4. Your little stockings are so cute! I love your lights and decorations too. People today have a problem "deferring gratification"...they seem to want what they want when they want it. I am such an introvert that it doesn't bother me at all and with God in my life I am never alone. We control our thoughts and if we think we are being "deprived" then we act selfishly and forget the affect it may have on others. I would think that they could wait since a vaccine is on the horizon and by next year people could gather safely. Why take a chance? Oh well. I can only control myself not others. Stay safe and stay well. I hope to get my decorations up this week.

  5. Very pretty with your decorations inside and out! I'm not going to get the vaccine-I can't tolerate the regular flu shot! Have you heard that even when you get vaccinated, you still have to wear the face masks? I wonder why.

  6. Dave and I will most likely get a vaccine because we both have vulnerable people in our family we are close to. That said, I do understand the hesitancy about getting it - it all feels very rushed. Im not worried about all the wild "government control" conspiracies, but I do understand the general concern over safety.

  7. I can remember when I was five lining up for the polio vaccine. I was young enough I was able to get it in a sugar cube instead of a shot. I will be in line this time too!!! I am guessing we will get it every year along with our flu shots. Your stockings are adorable.

  8. I don't have a make up bag either anymore for the same reason. I had to pay someone to do my makeup for my kid's weddings because I wasn't going to make an investment in something I would never use.
Your little socks are so sweet. Someone (me) might be a grandma again in the next week or so and I've been making little socks too but they are not a lot of fun. I really struggled with them and had to make them over and over to get them right.
I've been very disheartened by what I've seen happening around the country with the virus. Everyone I know now has either known someone suffering or lost someone. All those lucky people who don't know how terrible this virus is may get a rude awakening for Christmas. I don't wish it on anyone.
    Stay safe.

  9. I like you little Christmas stockings. Phil put a wreath on our front door that's fake but reusable and nice. I hope to get more Christmas items out from closet soon. I don't buy make-up at stores anymore. I get them from Young Living which is much better. Their lip balm is really good. Savvy Minerals make-up from YL has more bad stuff removed than what Europe has removed from their products. My skin doesn't break out with items I use as I have rosacea and need to be careful what I use. Happy day to you!🍰😍🌹

  12. I don't have a make up bag either...just use lipstick...my eyes can't tolerate make up. I love the way the advent socks turned out and how you are displaying them! I have a little tree up this year that Elisabeth brought over Friday and we strung up some lights inside on the picture window. Elisabeth has been encouraged by what she has read and what she has heard at the hospital about the vaccines, and I am grateful for those who are working hard to make them safe and available. Happy Monday! 💜🤗🙏

  13. The row of tiny socks looks as lovely as I thought it would. And now there are little bulges in each one with a daily little treat for you. What a super idea you had.

  16. I don't use make up either...oh well! Your socks are so cute...you will have to share with us what is in them!
My husband will get the shot when ever it is available to him and so will I ...but I won't get it at the same time as he does...unless something changes. We were wondering today how long until it takes effect to get that 95% coverage and I heard it is a two shot series...and I heard that some people have bad reactions which probably means me...so I will have to block out a couple of days for being sick ... I cannot believe the number of people who traveled:(

  17. Aw, your advent chain of socks is just precious! What a neat idea and something to look forward to every morning! We have to sieze what joy we can find in these troubled times. So thankful our hope is not built on anything in this world, but on Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior!
