November Challenge Day 12

Today the challenge is to tell you some things that make my day.

1. Dennis calls me from work every day at noon. I know that as soon as the clock strikes 12 my phone will be ringing within a few seconds. I love hearing from him in the middle of the day.
2. Pipers almost daily video chats with me while she teaches me to draw and to read. They are good for both of us, since so many of us are in isolation right now. Although she is still in school, but who knows for how long?
3. Watching Chloe run and roll in the snow like a puppy. She is such a good dog.
4. Our family WeChat group. I love how we can all have a real time chats together from all around the world. Pictures fly back-and-forth and so does laughter and joking.
5. Dennis calls and tells me he’s going to stop and pick up a pizza for dinner!

I could probably think of a lot more if I put my mind to it. I have a pretty good life and I know it. I am blessed.

I thought I would share with you a little bit of my Christmas decorations. I love snowmen!

Mr. Snowman seems to be motioning people to come in the door.
Chloe‘s test results came back and there’s a level in her kidneys that is high. They want me to get three urine samples, all on different days and they can run more tests. I have absolutely no idea how I’m supposed to collect urine from her. She’s so skittish, being a rescue dog. She keeps looking over her shoulder to see where you are when you take her for a walk. There’s no way you could ever sneak up on her.

Take care my friends, and I’ll be back tomorrow.

Blessings and love,
Betsy

  3. I love the things that make your day. It so sweet that your husband calls you in the middle of the day. I collect snowmen too! I put them out after Thanksgiving and they stay out until Valentine's Day. Happy weekend!

  4. I love your snowmen! My mom had a big snowman collection too. When the Snowden collection came out at Target she had them all. They are saying we are in for another warm winter so my stuffed snowmen might be all I get again. Sigh.

  5. Google it or call the vet and ask how you're supposed to get a urine sample. Sometimes they have "tricks of the trade". If there's snow o n the ground you might be able to pick up the yellow part! LOL! Poor Chloe...I still shed tears for my losses...sometimes there are things in life you never get over.
I've been praying for you and Dennis and your health insurance. What about Obamacare or ACA? Stay safe and stay well and enjoy that pizza! I'm having frozen pizza.

  6. what wonderful things to be so grateful for in your life! Sorry about Chloe's problems....I don't think it is possible to get a urine sample from a pet!

  7. I love that Dennis phones you at 12, it made me smile remembering that Gerard used to do the very same thing when he was working. Nothing beats the family getting together for a good session of banter. Hope you manage to get the urine samples and that there isn't anything too sinister going on. Take care.

  8. I love the snowman decor. I especially like decorating with snowmen because it can remain after Christmas!

Today I did my first preschool class with my quarantined grandchildren in two different houses. We did it in Facebook Messenger. I am so grateful for the internet.

  9. Hmm, collecting urine samples from a dog seems nearly impossible. I hope someone can give you ideas. Your list of things that make your day is wonderful. The WeChat calls sound like fun. Take care and stay safe

  10. I like your line of snowmen. I think that I might have one of them myself. Perhaps a beanie baby? It looks familiar. If you can get something like a plastic sheet under Chloe, you could collect the pee after she moves on. Video chats with family are the best.

  11. What a great place to put your snowman collection! I can't believe they expect you to collect Chloe's urine samples. Sheesh. Good luck on that. It would take two of you to accomplish that, wouldn't it? That is sweet that Dennis calls you at noon every single day. That is dedication! You are also lucky to video chat with Piper almost every day. It's rare that I hear from my granddaughters. Well.. I better get to writing my Friday blog! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  12. Your snowman collection is cute. The good thing about snowmen is that they can stay out even AFTER Christmas. Mine stay out until the end of January when the Valentine's Day stuff takes that place.

  14. Betsy, I have been looking back at all the weeks I have missed and boy have you been busy. So much making, so much to see and enjoy. Snow! Wow! It is still in the high 80's here and I am so sick of it. Enjoy your weekend my friend.

  15. My husband used to call me everyday at noon too! What nice guys we married!
If Chloe is skittish I don't know how you will do it...it will be hard to do by yourself...usually urine is caught mid stream in a pan slipped underneath...and three days...boy oh boy....you could try a piece of plastic...like a piece of saran wrap underneath her and collect from there...I guess I would ask why three days and what is the treatment if they find something...just a switch in meds??...sometimes they like lots of tests:(

  16. I've had to get urine samples a couple times from my dogs. I just keep as close as I can with them on a leash and as soon as they squat, stick the little cup underneath and hope for the best. Just know you're probably going to get some on your hand, so wear a glove if that bothers you. With Chloe being skittish, that might make it harder. Good luck! I don't often comment, but I read and enjoy your blog regularly.

  17. That's such a cute line-up of snowmen. And the one on the door inviting friends to come in ( well, maybe not right now with the dreaded virus).
I hope Chloe will be okay. I know she means so much to you.

  18. Oh, my! That sounds like such a challenge to be able to gather the samples from Chloe. Bless your heart. I do hope you are able to do what you need to and also trust Chloe will be okay. Your snowmen are just adorable!

  19. LOVE your snowmen! I have loved all things relating to snowmen for many years. I like that they can stay out all winter. // Our temps the past few weeks are been up and down, down and up.... today is the one day of the high being in the low 70s in the middle of a week of 30-40s. Never know what it's going to do here in Kansas! // Getting those samples from a female doggy is something else, for sure! We had to do that years ago with our Brandi... Chip being a boy doggy was much easier. We will pray all turns out to be easy to remedy! Blesisngs to Chloe and you guys!

  20. Love the snowmen! They remind me of my mom. She collected them and they were Everywhere in her house! Good luck with Cloe. Our vet charged $10 to collect the urine themselves. Well worth the cost! :)
