I Did It!

I blogged every single day in the month of November! I have never done that before and I made it a personal goal for this month. I must admit it wasn’t always easy and I hope I didn’t bore you. I am going to try to blog more frequently than I did before, but I’m sure it won’t be every day. I admire those of you who are so consistent with daily blogging.

I have a question for all of you. Has anyone ever made this blanket? It’s called “mystical lanterns” and I have seen the pattern on ravelry but I would like to know if it’s available within the US. Isn’t it beautiful? I thought it would be a great way to use up scraps.

Those colors!!!!!!

I completely forgot yesterday was Thursday. I mean I seriously completely spaced off that the day was Thursday. How do you do that? I forgot the ladies luncheon at church. Luckily I didn’t have any leadership roles in that, I was just going to take food and eat. :-). I also forgot to print out the new square for the “12 blocks of Christmas KAL”. I printed it late last night and I am going to start it this afternoon. Sometimes I think there’s something seriously wrong with me.

Especially when I do something like this.

That is a cookie sheet full of Dennis’s favorite cookies that were destined to be iced sugar cookies. I’m not doing any other baking to speak of this Christmas, so I thought I could at least bake him some sugar cookies. I mixed up the dough this morning and put it in the refrigerator for it’s two hours of cooling. The first two sheets came out of the oven just fine. But when I took the third sheet out I dropped it and this was the result. Of course they were the prettiest cookies too! No chopped off arms or legs on the gingerbread man. Isn’t that always the way?  Just keeping it real for all of you. There is no perfection at this house. Ha!

Since I had flour all over the place anyway, I made some homemade noodles and we’ll have chicken and noodles for dinner tonight. Also at Dennis’s request. My back has about had it though, so I’ll be down for the rest of the afternoon.

I’ll leave you with a picture of the little wall by our front door.

And this is the little table directly underneath the above picture.

The predicted snow has not materialized here yet. I think we’re just a little bit to warm as it’s 36F.  Less than 10 miles west of Spokane on the High Plains it’s been snowing for hours. You don’t find me complaining though. Ha ha! I hope you’re all having a wonderful Friday afternoon.

“The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.” John 1:9-10

Edited to add, I am having a terrible time posting comments on some of your blogs. Many, I have resorted to commenting anonymously and just signing my name, but others won’t let me comment at all. One that comes to mind right now is Regina‘s blog and I don’t have her email address to let her know.  I don’t know why this is happening, but I have read of other bloggers who are having the exact same issue and it seems to have something to do with blogger and Google. I will keep trying my best, but if I usually comment and I haven’t for a week or two, please send me a quick email and I will comment to you through email. I’m still reading all of your blogs, I just can’t let you know it if I don’t have an email address.

  1. I've read and enjoyed every one of your posts for November. Did you use the scheduling feature on blogger? It makes it easier to write all the posts on one day and schedule them to publish throughout the week. I use it all the time.

  2. Oh that blanket is a beauty for sure! Yes, Jane Crowfoot is in the U.K. and is a very famous crochet designer so her patterns are pay for patterns. the pattern is only 3.95 pounds....I think you're worth it! Ask Santa!
You made me laugh out loud about not knowing what day it was...I have done that many times. One year I thought I was 45 the whole year and I was only 44. I tend to round up my numbers! LOL! Then the cookie fiasco...so sorry but I had to laugh at that too. i remember rolling all those cookies and getting one decent gingerbread man with all his appendages! LOL!
At least you have Dennis to notice if you are 'off'.....who's going to tell me? I could be a raving lunatic and no one would be here to save me from myself! LOL! I am still laughing!
Love your decorations! We're supposed to get heavy rain tonight and maybe hail....it was 70 here today and there's probably a cold front coming in that usually causes hail and severe weather. I think we're fine though as there are no alerts. Have a nice weekend and I am going to miss all the NaBloPoMo bloggers....I'm going to keep it up but I will miss all the rest of you who will stop.

  4. Betsy, if anyone can do that elaborate crochet design, you can. I do hope you get the pattern and make it as I'd love to watch your progress. I sent you an email showing you how you can schedule blog posts.. I do it each time as it's the best way to make sure your post shows up when you want it to. Dayle hung up some new icicle lights on our old porch today, they twinkle and are really neat. I hang like 10 decorations and do some dusting and things throughout the day. The tree is almost done. All my cards are sent, too! YAY! Next will be finishing the decorating and then to get serious about gifts. Then it's just enjoy enjoy enjoy.

  5. It has been a real treat for me to read your frequent posts in November! I enjoy your recount of your days and I am encouraged and energized by learning about your busy life. I especially appreciate your parting verse in your posts...they cheer me on to focus on the One who is most dear. It will be fun to watch your progress if you decide to make that pretty blanket! Blessing to you and yours dear Betsy.

  6. that blanket is very pretty...hope you can find the pattern! It was cold and rainy today. Wore a sweatshirt all day and stil chilly...glad to come home and put some wool sox on this evening! Oh, we all have our days of forgetting and goofing up when we bake. I've done that too many times with one bread recipe. Annoying but it's ok at least we realize we mess up...if we didn't then we'd for sure would be crazy!!hHAHAHAHAHA! Hugs my friend and stay warm and dry!

  7. Congrats! Blogging everyday can be a chore. That's when you find out your life is not as interesting as you thought it was. I do find that it's a great motivator to get things done so you'll have something to post about.
Poor cookies. I am only doing some sugar cookies this year also but I'm not making them until Christmas Eve Eve. I don't trust myself not to eat them all in one sitting.

  11. Hi Betsy, I just told Bob today that I am having a hard time keeping track of the days! Maybe it is the time of year! That crochet blanket is sure pretty. We have a sign above our door a little different than yours. It says Faith Family, Friends. Oops! Sorry about that last pan of cookies! Nancy
