Sunshine Tuesday

Happy Tuesday to all of you! The sun is shining for the first time in days and although it’s very cold, only 25°F, it looks warm and for some reason it feels warm when the sun is shining.

I’ve had a busy morning so far. We had a young man come out to give us an estimate regarding our woodstove. After that I went to the post office to mail Alex’s birthday/Christmas gift. Then it was on to the church for a couple of errands there and to the grocery store. I just got home and put two loaves of banana bread in the oven. I had some bananas that got just a little too ripe to eat and I can’t bring myself to throw them away. Banana bread is a great thing to put into the freezer to pull out if you need a quick dessert. The house smells so yummy right now. I wish you could all smell it along with me.  We could have some tea and some banana bread warm from the oven together. Or, you could have a danish cookie from Costco!  I have lots of those.  Ha ha!

I’ve finished the fourth block on the “12 blocks of Christmas KAL”.  Dennis said his favorite is this plum color out of the four blocks.

And here they are, all four together. This is the first of three strips. I am having so much fun with this KAL.

I’ve also done three loads of laundry and changed the sheets on the bed this morning. I think I’ve earned a few hours of knitting time this afternoon don’t you?

Here are a couple more pictures Alex sent me. This one is of the Tower of London. I think the white brick is beautiful.

Many people think this is the Tower of London but this is actually Tower Bridge if I recall correctly.

He also got a picture of himself ice-skating with the Victoria and Albert, (my favorite,) museum behind him. He said this one was for me and the Sherlock Holmes picture was for Dennis.

I did not knit one stitch on Dennis’s sweater yesterday.  I made the KAL block and I knitted a “granny‘s favorite” dishcloth for my gift basket. I also need to start some socks for Brad for Christmas. I need more knitting time! Ha ha! I hope you are all having a wonderful Tuesday.

“However, I consider my life with nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me, the task of testifying to the Good News of God‘s grace. Acts 20:24

  1. Your blocks are lovely & the stitch patterns add a lot of texture. Your blanket will be a beauty. Banana bread and tea go well together.

  2. Your last block is so pretty...well they all are! It is fun to see it in progress:)

  3. Oh, I love your blanket squares! I need to check that pattern out. It's hard to believe that your weather is so different from ours. It's been good walking weather lately here. Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday. This week is going by too quickly......

  4. Alex's photo of the Tower Bridge is beautiful.

I think I am going to use those blanket square patterns to make some dishcloths.

  5. That purple is a gorgeous hue and pretty scenes in the photos.

  6. Love the new square, both the color and the design. Beautifully done! What a neat thing for your son to do! What is the occasion of him being in London? That Tower Bridge is quite something, I wish I could see it myself. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  7. You have certainly had a busy day. The new square is stunning, what a lovely colour. I would love to join you for tea and a slice of banana bread, it would be so nice to sit awhile and do some crafting together.

  8. Hi Betsy I agree with Dennis the last one is nicest not only because of colour but the design is particularly nice... your work is lovely.
Hope your woodfire is sorted without too much expense!! So you're nice and toasty.. those are low temps already.. hopefully lots of sunshiney days too.
A cuppa and banana bread sounds perfect... I'll be right over!
    If only!
Wonder if you could teach me how to Facetime. I've done skype and what's app chatting but not Facetime... I have an iPad then we could do a virtual chat!!!
    God bless dear Sis
    hugs Shaz.x

  9. Your KAL looks like so much fun!
Alex's trip looks like a dream. What a fun city.

  10. Aw Betsy, Alex's photos are wonderful. How great to share the trip with you. Your blocks are really coming along nicely. They look so even! Nice work.

  11. I love those blocks (I need to look at the patterns again) and the purple is such a gorgeous shade.

Thanks - I'll take a piece of banana bread AND a cookie - lol.

  12. What a handsome son you have and I am sure he is a fine man being raised by you and Dennis. Great pictures....thank him and thanks to you for sharing. I love your KAL squares...you are such a good knitter and the different patterns and colors are beautiful. You definitely deserve some knitting time after all those chores! Have a great day!

  13. Yum! I love making banana bread muffins. Oh, it would be so nice to sit down and share some of your fresh banana bread and a cup of coffee together! God bless you, sweet friend. :)

  14. Your blocks are coming along nicely. I am still on block two...knitting at the speed of turtle, of course. :) We are to get sleet and freezing rain tonight....gosh I really hate winter! Wishing you a day filled with many blessings sweet friend. ((hugs))

  15. Glad you can enjoy the pictures from your son. Modern technology is really nice at times. Nancy

  16. Dennis's favorite is mine, too...but all your work is so lovely. Your productive day was fun to read about and I too would have loved to share a cup of tea with you and chat some more xx

  17. What a handsome son you have! And how wonderful that he shares these pictures with you. I love this square, too. It reminds me a favorite dishcloth I make. Your whole blanket is giving me nice patterns to try for dishcloths, I want you to know! :)
