Oh I am so in love with his blanket. Sharon at “farmgirlsam” blog on my sidebar told me the designers name for it. The designer is in the UK and I ended up paying for the pattern, but I think it will be worth it. It’s only available in hardcopy form, not digitally, so I ordered last night and hopefully it will be here within a week or two. There is a KAL for a shawl that I want to join with Kim over at Napiers Knits, after the sweater is done, but I think I’m going to start this blanket too. I can’t help it, for some reason it’s calling to me. I hope I can figure the pattern out!
I did finish the ninth block of the “12 blocks of Christmas KAL”. Please excuse the poor lighting. Remember I told you yesterday that the predicted snow hadn’t happened? Well, less than five minutes after I published the post it started snowing. And it has snowed on and off ever since, although it’s so warm none of it is sticking to the ground today. It still makes the lighting pretty bad inside so there are lots of shadows.
I have to stop looking online, because I also found this pretty blanket and pillows to drool over.
I think the colors that she chose are perfect. What is it with me and crochet lately? Everything I’m finding to make is crochet. Maybe it’s because I’ve been knitting so much and I’m ready for a change.
Tonight is Dennis’s company Christmas party. I always enjoy them. The food is amazing. Prime rib, ham, roast chicken and all the trimmings you could imagine. And then we play bingo for amazing prizes, including trips to Hawaii and 60 inch TVs! I have never seen a lot of drinking at these parties. It is really frowned upon. You are given one free drink ticket each, which we use for soda.
When we started going to the parties 25 years ago, there were 28 employees. This year there will be over 600 people there! We also used to win several prizes every year. We haven’t won anything for years and years now. :-) Tonight Dennis is being honored for 25 years of employment. They will do a speech about him and he will get some silver eagles for his years of service. I have to say that this has been and is a wonderful job for him and he enjoys it. It gave him the opportunity to travel all over the world, even though he is home a lot more now and rarely has to travel. That’s not to say he isn’t looking forward to retirement in a few years. We’re trying to find health insurance options for me since I am younger than he is. That is proving to be quite a huge hurdle and may cause him to have to work a lot longer than we would like or had planned.
Well I think that’s it for today. Thank you all for your information on posting. I had no idea that you could schedule when to publish a post. I wrote these posts each and every day in November, not knowing I could write them in advance and have them go online whenever I wanted them to. I am so technologically illiterate! I hope you’re all having a lovely weekend wherever you are.
“ I will give thanks to the LORD because of His righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the LORD most high.” Psalm 7:17
Blessings always,
Betsy
Congratulations to Dennis on his 25 years! So glad you were able to get the pattern. It is a beautiful blanket. There's also a scarf and a shawl pattern. Which one did you get? Have fun at the party! Thank you for the card you sent! It is so pretty and it is my first Christmas card this year and maybe my only! LOL!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got the pattern Betsy. I like those pillows too....purple is a good color..right?!!! We've not been to a work party of Phil's for a while. Always downtown pdx which is where we stay away from for many reasons. He did get a gift card for being a veteran on veteran's day. A good steak house so will use it someday. Pray that things will go better at his job. Working on my to do list today. Bye my sweet friend. ××--××
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found the source of the pattern. The motifs in the blanket remind me of Christmas ornaments.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the party, and I hope you win several prizes this year.
I hope you won some prizes!! That is one beautiful project! :)

My goodness who knew you could schedule posts in advance. I may try to work that one out prior to going away. Hope you had a wonderful evening and congratulations to Dennis for 25 years service. Beautiful project.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you found the pattern. I hope it comes faster than you expect. I know you'll make a beautiful blanket with it.. now to see what yarn you choose! Did you try the scheduling option on this post? Have a wonderful day tomorrow. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteBetsy, you are hilarious. I can't believe you didn't know you could schedule posts. :) I'm not usually organized enough to do so but thought about doing it this month since I would like to post every day. I've been such a lazy blogger this year even though there's no reason for it. Trying to get back on track. Congrats to Dennis on his 25 years! I posted on our Kuwait Crafters IG account about the gorgeous Myriad CAL one of our members is finishing up. Truly amazing! The project you've chosen is really gorgeous. I just don't have patience for such things and my joining skills are really the pits. That's why I stick with quick and easy projects for the most part. Warm wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Dennis! The only thing I regret about retiring early is that The Mister and I did it at the same time. I would have loved a year or two on my own since he drives me crazy most days!
ReplyDeleteThat blanket pattern that you bought is beautiful. Yes, I do schedule posts in advance if I get an idea and have the time. Just one post at a time. How good that your hubby has a job he enjoys and for 25 years!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found the pattern that inspired you Betsy. It will be beautiful and I'll enjoy seeing you create it .Congratulations to Dennis! Enjoy the party. Honoring one's work is important.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Dennis on his years of service! I look forward to seeing the beautiful things you are going to crochet! Nancy
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful celebration of Dennis's 25 years at the company! It is fun to see all your stitching projects and I look forward to seeing your progress on them. xx
ReplyDeleteYou are sure doing great in keeping up with that blanket KAL. My pile of patterns is growing and it's going to be an after holidays project for me. I am up to my eyeballs in projects that need finishing...... Oh, that's a lovely blanket in the photo; I can see why you got the pattern!
