Block Number Three

The third block on the “12 Blocks of Christmas” KAL was released yesterday. It was a quick knit up. I think it was the easiest block yet. What do you think?

And here are all three. I just realized I knit them in red, green and white. Christmas colors! That was purely accidental.

I have to admit, I am enjoying these blocks. I started Dennis’s Christmas sweater and I am not enjoying that knit one little bit. I don’t know if it’s the yarn, which is 100% wool, or the pattern. But I happily put it down yesterday to make the new block. I don’t want to pick it up today but I will.  Here is the sweater as it is now.

Many of you said that you hoped that Chloe was doing well after her blood work. The vet won’t  call until at least tomorrow with the results but I’m guessing all is well.

I just got home from Inland Imaging where they did an x-ray of my abdomen. I have had  pain on my lower right side ever since my colonoscopy last week but I haven’t said anything on here. It always seems to be something doesn’t it?  The doctors medical asst. told me yesterday that he wants to repeat the colonoscopy in three months. I don’t think so. I haven’t even healed from this one.  My last colonoscopy 10 years ago was a piece of cake.  This one has been a nightmare from the prep until now. So, I have had good news with the mammogram and ultrasound on Tuesday and now this. What is it with me? I must admit to getting very discouraged right now.

Many of you encouraged me to try overwintering my geraniums, so I took your advice this morning and brought them into the garage. Yesterdays frost pretty much wiped them out and I hope it wasn’t too late to bring them in. We’ll see how they look in the spring. Thanks for all of the advice.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of the people in the town of Paradise, California who lost everything yesterday in the wildfire. The photos I’ve seen online are just horrible. If you haven’t heard about it, practically the entire town was burned from what I can tell. Hospitals, nursing homes, restaurants, Walmart and just about everything else. It kind of puts things in perspective doesn’t it?

“Praise be to the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:4

Blessings, Betsy

  1. That fire is just awful. I can't imagine how scary that must be. I had a dream once that our woods were on fire and I woke up hysterical. It's terrifying to know you will lose everything. What do you take?

  2. Those block sure are fun Betsy! Nice job. What pattern are you using for Dennis' sweater?

The heartache in CA is just awful this week. So many bad things.

Hoping/praying your tests all come out fine and that you start to feel better.

  3. You have had more than your share of health issues. Bless you Betsy. Im praying for you.
Your geraniums will surprise you with next years showing! I am going to "water" the ones I brought in with snow melt later. We got snow last night, so I took a bucket and filled it with snow. Our water here is treated so I cant use faucet water. I water them very sparingly.....in the winter.

  4. Nice job on the three blocks and your choice of colors! It's disheartening to have health issues when clear answers and solutions aren't available. I hope your doctors will be able to easy your pain.

  5. I like your Christmas blocks! I have a friend at church who has family members that lived in Paradise, CA. Sad. A town not much larger than where we live. I'll be praying your pain subsides soon and better results for sure. Went to dentist today and got my tooth worked on. Then shopped for groceries and got an MmM cookie from Megan at the bakery .Bought a ham for thanksgiving. No turkey this year as not sure what that week will be like wirhy brother needing care after the surgery. Prayers appreciated! Hugs my friend and stay warm. Chilly outside all day. Coat and hat and sweater weather now for sure!😉

  8. I must say, I'm very impressed with those knitted squares. I love the basket weave of them. Sorry that you're not enjoying Dennis' sweater, but it looks very nice and I'm sure he'll treasure it. Sorry that you're having trouble with the colonoscopy site.. could they have scraped something accidentally? I wouldn't have the next one done by the same people. The fires in Cali are horrific. So sad. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  9. Heart rendering to hear about the fires, so much lost it puts my little moans and groans into perspective. Love the knitted squares and such fun to see it in traditional Christmas colours. You are in my prayers Betsy for a speedy recovery and to be pain free. Take care.

  11. I'm a new follower to your blog, but wanted to let you know I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues (and that you'll possibly have to undergo another colonoscopy sooner than you would like). I pray that your issue will be sorted out soon, and that you are okay.
