Black Friday?

Happy Friday everyone. So did any of you go shopping for Black Friday? We had no plans to, but ended up stopping by a jewelry store this morning to get a necklace repaired.  Yesterday did not turn out quite as it was planned, but it was a good day anyway. We ended up just staying home for the day and having leftovers from earlier in the week for our Thanksgiving dinner. Poor Kale is still pretty sick this morning so it’s probably a good thing we didn’t go to their house.

Dennis met Jeremy late in the afternoon about halfway between our homes and exchanged food. Dennis gave Jeremy the pies we were supposed to take and he brought us some leftover turkey. Yay! Turkey sandwiches for dinner tonight. Yum. We also watched the new Christmas movie on Netflix yesterday.  I think it’s called the Christmas Chronicles or something like that.  Very cute.

We had a busy morning today though. We had breakfast out and then went to the jewelry store to repair my necklace, then to the church to do a few errands there and on to the grocery store. Then we came home and got Chloe and took her for a pedicure at the Petsmart. There are a lot of people out shopping, but since we were doing errands and not really shopping, we avoided most of the crowds and check out lines.  Now we’re home for the rest of the day and are snuggled in by the fire. It’s begun raining so it’s nice to be home.

The Thursday KAL block was released a little late yesterday, so I didn’t get very far. I started it just before bedtime last night and haven’t knitted a stitch yet today. I do like this pattern though.  Once again, Amelia is my knitting buddy!

I hope you’re all having a lovely day after Thanksgiving and you didn’t have too much turkey yesterday!  I’m looking forward to my sandwich for my dinner tonight.  :-)

“ May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5-6

Blessings, Betsy

  1. The only shopping we did was at Dollar Tree to pick up a few items and the supermarket . We never do Black Friday because depending where you shop it can be a madhouse.
We definitely ate too much turkey but it was very delicious!😊

  2. I just finished my turkey sandwich dinner, yum! I decorated for Christmas, a bit early for me but it frankly is the only time I have this season. Lots to do for work in the coming weeks so I have to plan accordingly. Little B did his online math this morning while I decorated, at least the teacher will be happy with us. Have a good weekend Betsy.

  4. No shopping for me today. I did a load of laundry and some dishes and some planning for moving. I had a piece of leftover crustless impossible pumpkin pie made with gluten free Bisquick for lunch...yum! Hope you and Dennis enjoy your turkey sandwiches tonight :) I'm enjoying listening to some Christmas music on the KLOVE radio station. Your new square is especially pretty to me. Thanks so much for sharing the encouraging verses! xxxxx

  5. I've never gotten into the black friday thing. To me it exemplifies the greediness of the holidays. I did follow the kids over to Sandy to their new house while they drove their vintage mustangs and then I brought them back home and they've been loading things in the moving truck. I think your KAL blocks are really neat. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  7. I drove home today (strong wind and thankfully no snow) so I didn't do any Black Friday shopping. I won't do any Cyber Monday shopping either.

  9. I did online shopping to get a few things from Young Living as they had 20percent off a few oils I use and got a few other things "free" with my rewards. Did a few errands in town this afternoon. Avoided the malls traffic too. Good thing it closed at 10 p.m. We had people parking on our street last night and walking to the mall. They've done it in years past and it seems to work out ok. Can't imagine doing all that...I shop thru the year and watch for deals! A bit warmer with less rain today. Have a good weekend my friend!

  10. Definitely no shopping over here. I stayed home all day while my husband had out of country business guests to entertain. It's been very cloudy around here. Too much rain at times with lots of flooding. We actually went out for Chinese food on Thanksgiving Day. :)

  11. What a great idea to 'trade' leftovers with your friends. I hope their little boy recovers...it's so worrisome w hen little ones are sick. Glad you got all your errands done and were home before the rain. It rained here yesterday too. I went Black Friday shopping years ago and swore never again...it was not a holiday highlight to see people fighting over things. I try to ignore it. It is the opposite of what Christmas is all about. I love your new stitch and actually I have done that one in some blocks I started a while back from a retro afghan book I have...ie; it's an old book of mine from long ago...I call that vintage or retro or even antique now! LOL! You blocks are lovely and I like that you join them right away. Enjoy your weekend!

  12. The one thing I miss about Thanksgiving since going vegetarian is that turkey sandwich. As a kid I lived for those things. White bread and plenty of mayo. Heaven.

  13. I never do Black Friday because here people are just down right mean. They will jump you to get a parking space you are waiting for (yes, even when your blinker is on to indicate you are waiting for that space). I can't tell you how many times we are traveling on the road and the car behind us will try to side swipe us only to get in front of us and to turn quickly, which means we have to slam on our brakes to avoid hitting them...and then all our stuff in the car crashes to the floor. Thankfully this is not where I grew up, there people are a lot nicer....but I digress. We stay home and enjoy a quiet day. You are coming along so nicely on your squares. I am on square four now...hope to get pics soon. Wishing you a day filled with many blessings sweet friend. ((hugs))
