December 6th

Sunday is almost over. We have had a fairly quiet weekend. I didn’t leave the RV all day today and Dennis just left long enough to wash my car and come back home. We attended a couple of church services online which were wonderful, both the music and the messages.   Afterwards we watched some videos and movies but nothing very exciting. Meanwhile, I’m knitting away on the sweater. Let’s check and see what was in the advent stocking today shall we?

Yay! Some more candy.  I like crushed peppermint in my hot chocolate, so all of these candy canes will come in useful.

Our church in Omaha is doing something different this year. This is the church that Dennis and I were married in and all of us, (both us and our children), were baptized in. In fact, Dennis and I met in a Sunday school class there when I was 15 and he was 19! We were very active members until our move to Spokane, and I’m sure that’s where we will attend if and when we move back to Omaha. They have had a mailbox for Christmas cards since way before Dennis and I got married.  There are slots for all the letters of the alphabet and you can put your cards for people in those slots and that way you can save on postage. They announced this morning that because of Covid they are going to have a big tree in the back of the auditorium and they asked people to email a photo of themselves to the church. They will print the pictures off and hang them on the tree along with any greeting that you attach. I think this is a wonderful idea so this is the photo Dennis and I sent.
Neither of us like photos of ourselves and selfie’s just add to the stress, in my opinion. But at least we were able to get the tree in the background and the stockings hanging above us.

I love the picture below of Chloe. Look at how her front legs are crossed. She and Dennis had just gone on a long walk down past the airport and then they stopped at the dog park so she could play with her friend Lucas. He is another golden lab and they have such a good time. He’s only 5 years old to her 15 but you would never know it to watch them play.  Of course she collapsed when she got home!  She really enjoys laying in front of the fireplace.  It’s an electric heater that blows heat right out over the top of her bed.  She has the best spot in the RV!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I also hope that you are all healthy and well and that your family is too. Our numbers are up, up, up here in Spokane. I have high hopes for the vaccine that is coming out. I am ready to get it as soon as I’m told I can.  I miss people. I want to hug my friends.  I’ve been told that I’m crazy by many people for wanting to get the vaccine as soon as possible. What do you guys think? Vaccine or no?

Wishing you each a wonderful Monday. Stay safe.
Blessings,
Betsy

  1. I so agree with you there are indeed many many people out there who try to help now more than ever in their own quiet way. I salute your friends Mr & Mrs Claus and admire so much what they do! I really like the tree idea that your church has arranged it is brilliant. Your photo is adorable you both look great! :-) Oh! to be a dog called Chloe and curl up and snooze in front of a cosy warm fire and quite possibly dream about playtime with a friend :-) I hesitate about the vaccine... I am not sure. I definitely think the Uk is going into it too fast! Keep well Amanda x

  2. I love the photo of both of you. I am not about selfies at all. Chloe is so smart and cozy she knows right where to be. I think the vaccine is really are only hope because to many people still do not take this seriously. In Florida it is a mad house, I think when I am eligible I will take it, but that might be a long time from now. Stay safe.

  3. I will vaccine when I can. My mom and sister are allergic to the flu vaccine so cannot. The flu vaccine puts mom in icu. I am always afraid I will bring something home to her. I like the daily stockings, but am not a fan of the candy, unless it is m&m's

  4. That is such a nice picture of you and Dennis! And a great idea your church has. Also love the picture of Chloe - what a sweetie!!

  5. I can't wait to get the vaccine. I understand that the healthcare workers are first, then law enforcement and maybe teachers third? I don't care where I am in line - I will be there at the crack of dawn! My daughter (a RNBSN who is a professor at a nursing school and working on her Phd) was recruited months ago to lead the vaccination efforts in her big city. She has recruited all her students and others to help inject. I cant' wait to be out and about too. Last night a friend who is not afraid to go to Walmart in person told me she is afraid to get the vaccine - huh? I am old enough to remember lining up to get my polio vaccine in a sugar cube.

  7. By the time I am able to get the vaccine it will have been out for awhile. So, it is a yes from me.

It's going to be a long time before we get back to some semblance of normal. Even longer if people DON'T get vaccinated. I understand the doubt, but I am willing to take my chances with the vaccine over getting Covid.

Sweet Chloe ...I would be snuggling right up with her by that fire place.

  8. Love the photo of you and Dennis with the stockings hung behind you. My former church had “mailboxes” for each member where the weekly bulletin and other papers were placed. It was common to receive Christmas and birthday cards in the boxes as well.

  9. I think the vaccine is the only way we are ever going to get back to normal. There are risks, of course, but it's got to start somehere.
Chloe is a sweet. Our dear-departed Lady was like that.... pure puppy until the end, though those play sessions took more out of her in her older days!

  10. It's snowing here today and I'm a little jealous of Chloe's spot in front of the fire. :) Great photo of you and Dennis. I am Horrible with a capital H at taking selfies. The only thing I ever seem to capture is my 3rd chin, nose hair or the one eye that happens to have mascara smudges... LOL

  11. From her research my daughter who is a nurse is encouraged by what she has found out about the vaccines and plans to be in line when one is available. Sweet contents of the sock and your photo! And it is pretty sweet to hear of Chloe's happy life as well. Thanks for posting, Betsy. Happy knitting 💜🤗🙏

  12. Chloe is such a love! I definitely will not be the first in line for any vaccine. My Colorado boy and I were just talking about it last night. He said he is not keen on it either since it's coming out so quickly and there's not been any long term testing to see what adverse effects, if any, there may be. Unfortunately, they could likely make it mandatory for travel and that really doesn't sit well with me at all. I like the idea of the mailboxes for cards. I wish i could give mail to anyone any kind of way. :( Good job on the selfie. I never, ever like any of the ones I try to take and that's why you never see me. :) Take care!

  13. Nice selfie! How are things in Spokane? It was rainy here yesterday, so we pretty much stayed inside. Our big adventure on Saturday evening was driving to see a choir friend's Christmas lights. As usual they were pretty amazing. Our nephew has a daughter whose name is Chloe who's a real sweetie, too.

  14. As much as I would like the vaccine I want to make sure that health care workers and other essential workers and those with compromised immune systems get it first. We are okay staying home, wearing masks and social distancing on the rare occasions that we go out. So, yes... but in due time. I love the photos of Chloe... she looks very comfortable!

  15. None of us particularly like pictures of ourselves I think. I like the picture of the two of you...a sweet couple!!
About the vaccine.... I'm waiting to see if there will be unforeseen side effects before I go for mine.

  16. I will get the shot, but plan to wait and see how it affects others first. If they start dropping like flies, I'll wait. I think your photo for the tree is excellent. You're too hard on yourself. That will be so cool to be able to rejoin your old church. I hope you can move there sooner than later as you have so many things there to look forward to. Piper and Mandy, your family, a NEW HOME and so many things. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  17. Churches are being very creative in gathering us all together while we cannot gather all together.

  18. That is a good idea with the tree and photos!
We will get the vaccination as soon as it is available. Hopefully if we get it this winter/spring then next summer will be more fun! I think even though I always have bad reactions to vaccinations that Covid would be worse.
    Chloe looks so comfy!

  19. Love your sweet selfie photo, dear Betsy! You two are the cutest pair! I just love your stocking advent, what fun! Chloe is such a darling, and I too love to see how our animals curl up and get cozy to sleep! We will not be getting the vaccine, as it seems there is far too much riskiness involved with it, and I've even heard that it may change our DNA. It is hard to know what to believe, so we are just going to wait and see. I hope you continue to enjoy cozy days in your RV, hard to believe Christmas is just around the corner! Many blessings to you dear friend :)

  20. Aw, I loved the picture of you and Dennis! So precious! And the one of Chloe is just priceless. What a sweet baby. Your church in Omaha sounds amazing. I hope you all are able to get back there one day and enjoy the fellowship again. It is hard to imagine life being that simple and normal again, but maybe one day. No vaccines for us here. Especially since we found out at least two of the vaccines are made from aborted baby cells. SO, so sick to even imagine such a thing - there are NO words. Our nation has plunged into such degradation, I honestly do not know how the Lord does continue to have mercy. But, I know it is just because of our dear Lord Jesus interceding for all of us and that He is hearing our earnest cries for mercy and help. May He continue to bless you and Dennis and keep you safe and healthy always.

  22. Oh, I like the picture of you and Dennis. Choloe looks so comfortable there in front of the fire. It puts me to sleep. I'm a little worried about getting the vaccine but probably will once it is available. My husband says for sure he will get it.
