December 10th

Tonight‘s post will be a bit shorter and sweeter than usual. It’s been a long day. I was awake until after midnight last night and then up again with Dennis at 5:00 this morning with no naps all day! I rarely sleep during the day, even when I’m sick. We had our small group Bible study on ZOOM tonight and I didn’t get the post done as early as I usually do. I’m tired and I need to try to get to sleep earlier tonight.

Today’s stocking.  More yummy candy.

I forgot to show you this nativity set when I was showing you all of our decorations. It was handcarved for us by a friend from church many years ago. It’s on a shelf in the bathroom on the opposite wall from the sticker I showed you the other night.

I did do a grocery pick up this morning at Walmart because I remember how impossible it was to find small turkeys at Thanksgiving the closer it got to the holiday. So I ordered our ham for Christmas. It’s not easy to stock up on freezer and refrigerator food ahead of time living here.  There’s not a lot of space. We did buy a small, extra freezer though, that fits by our table so I have a little extra freezer space. Anyway, I didn’t get several items that I ordered but I did get the ham, so we have everything we need for our Christmas dinner and anything else, we can just do without. Yay!  Tonight I made homemade broccoli, cheese and ham soup. It was delicious! The recipe didn’t call for ham, but I cut some up and put it in anyway and it was wonderful. I had just a little bit of french bread left from a loaf and it was the perfect meal on a damp and cold evening.

OK, that’s it for tonight. I’m off to bed. Now let’s just hope I actually can fall asleep. I’ve been having a lot of trouble sleeping recently. Have a wonderful Friday everyone! It will be snowing when I wake up, if the weatherman is right. He’s predicting snow off and on for the next seven days. Fun times ahead!

I pray all is well with all of you. I know several of you have difficulties in your life right now, and I want you to know that I’m praying for you. God knows the deepest needs in your heart and He cares even more than I do.

Blessings and love,

  1. The Lord is so good--we are all right where we should be. What a comfort in that. The little nativity set is beautiful. A friend just sent me a pic of the set she has I cut out on my jig saw 37 years ago!

  2. We always have lasagna and trifle for Christmas dinner and I just ordered all the ingredients. I've got my fingers crossed we get what we need and hope that the expiration dates won't trip me up on the dairy. This holiday dinner planning is no fun.

  3. Hi dear Betsy, it’s wet here too, had 5 inches overnight in twelve hours and it is forecast to rain for five more days.
Monday the worst is eight inches forecast! And visitors arrive tomorrow.. Sunday night, before Monday so that is good. Praying much all will be well, for folks in flood areas.
I found this good Christian article and put it on my FB page, it’s an answer to your query earlier in week re vaccine. I’ll past what I wrote on my post as well as link.
“ Vaccine or not?? A biblical, Christian perspective interestingly came up with same thoughts as I have had for years. I remember polio being rife, Tuberculosis, measles in my lifetime with many bad damaging life destroying diseases.
People who believe in conspiracy theories and are anti vaccine have very short memories and forget, refuse to see the benefits they bring.. yes, there maybe some con or against view, but pro result outweighs it.
I daily take cortisone, it has bad side affects with which I also live daily. It's medicine saves my life each and every day. I'd be dead without it.
It's same with vaccine. Everything has an upside, and a downside. Key is be informed, and NOT DECEIVED by lies.”

Hopefully you can get link to work, if not send me an email and I will few my email on it.
Cute nativity wood carving, and great re ham and that soup sounds really, really yum.

Praying much for your country that God will arise and every enemy will be scattered as it says in His word.
The children’s chorus or song “let God arise and His enemies be scattered, let God be true and every man a liar” has been going round and round in my mind as I pray.

Praying for your sleep to be sweet as Psalm 4 says, I need it too, awake sleepless at mo.

Thanks for sharing, and God bless, Shaz in Oz.x

  4. I hope you managed to have a good night's sleep.

  5. Lucky you with snow! How cozy! Do you have a fireplace in the trailer? I hope you get some sleep. I got up at 2:30 this morning and I was wide awake. I figure God gets me up early because he/she know how slow I am! LOL! I need all the extra time I can get!

  6. That Nativity scene is a real treasure! Hope you slept better last night.

  7. I like your nativity! I think I had one like that years ago but gave it to one of our was a very popular craft item! I hope you have a good rest! :) Stay safe!

  8. Thanks for letting us enjoy seeing your precious Nativity scene, dear Betsy. I'm glad you were able to get a ham and your dinner last night sounded yummy, If the snow comes I hope it is prettier than it is troublesome. I have had some trouble sleeping as well...May the Lord bless those of us who have been sleepless with sweet Jesus dreams tonight. 💜🙏😴

  9. I've been having trouble sleeping too.. here's to us both sleeping like a baby tonight. The "procedure" was really hard on me.. but the good news is no obvious cancerous tumor.. just 4 polyps which they removed. Hallelujuah!
    ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  10. THe Nativity is so simple and sweet . I hope you fall off to sleep dreaming of beautiful music for the holiday

  11. I love your wooden nativity! Simple yet profoundly meaningful! I admire folks who can work with wood like that! Blessings!

  12. I am late to the party and have gotten so far behind in my emails and blog visits, but it is always such a joy to come here and visit with you, sweet friend. May the Lord bless you! I hope you are sleeping better by now.
