December 16

It was a quiet day here today. I did get an Amazon package in the delivery box at the gas station on the corner. Those Amazon boxes are wonderful for picking things up. Completely no contact. You just push the buttons on the machine with the code they text to you, the door opens automatically and there’s your package!  Jeannie at “Jeannie Gray Knits” over on my side bar was telling us about a Bluetooth headband she bought from Amazon on a post earlier this week. She wears it to help her sleep and she said she’s sleeping so much better than she has in a long time. So I emailed back and forth with her and I ordered one on Monday.  It arrived today! Shopping like this can be dangerous. I have it all charged up and ready to try tonight. I’ll let you know how it goes.

In other news, here are the goodies from my stocking this morning. More candy!

And I finished a dish cloth last night for myself too! Every once in a while I do make something for me.💜

I showed you a long distance picture of the card that Connie from “The Far Side of Fifty” made for me, but I wanted to show some closer up pictures because she makes these and colors them by hand. They are true works of art.
Here is the inside.  So beautiful. The glitter adds just the right amount of sparkle.

Here is the card from Debbie who is “Araignee’s Tangled Web”. She also makes all of her own cards and puts so much work into them. Isn’t this cute?

Look at the inside! I would have never thought of anything like this. Debbie lives very close to the beach. I envy her her walks along the boardwalk.

It was 42F today! Not quite warm enough for a sundress, but I did wear my flip-flops outside to plug in the Christmas lights! I’ll take it. Much of the snow melted today it’s pouring down rain right now, so much more will be washed away by morning. I love the sound of rain on the roof of the trailer. We have had tree trimmers working in and around the park for the past several days. They are cutting down a lot of trees and it breaks my heart. Apparently it is so the Internet will have a more direct signal into the park. The price we pay for technology. Some of the trees were absolutely beautiful.

Although Christmas isn’t being celebrated quite how I had hoped this year, (Jamie and the kids were supposed to be coming), I am still grateful that our family is all doing well during this strange time we’re living in. After all, the reason we’re celebrating hasn’t changed a bit. Jesus came as a baby, he grew into a Man who died on a cross so that we could live in heaven eternally. That’s the entire reason we celebrate, and that doesn’t change, Covid or no Covid.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday and I’ll be back again to chat with you again tomorrow.

Blessings,
Betsy

  1. Will be curious to see if the headband works for you. I've never heard of such a thing so just looked it up and definitely know I would not like anything wrapped around my head, especially if its using wifi. It often takes me hours to go to sleep at night but I'd rather toss and turn. The only thing that gets me to sleep is to be truly comfortable, feeling nice and warm and for their to be peace and quiet (my husband did some loud snoring last night because he's had a bit of a cold). Handmade anything is the best. The cards are really very sweet. A shame about the trees. I can understand trimming them but I didn't think it was done during winter time. We are definitely paying a price by not putting nature first. Take care, stay safe.

  2. I confess I had The Mister's help this year in making all the cards. I bought that stamp set in July to keep him busy. He's been like a caged animal since this thing started. He doesn't know it yet but today he is helping me make some bath bombs for the Grands. Then I'm going to make him help me make candied pretzel rods for them later on when we agree on a day and time to drop of the presents-safely of course. No indoor visiting this year. Just a quick drop and run.

  3. Love your dishcloth Betsy, very Christmassy, sorry re trees I don’t like them cut down either, stunning cards from your very clever friends too... and yes, you are so VERY right the Christ of Christmas needs to be front and centre as the hymn says:

    Hark! the herald angels sing,
    "Glory to the newborn King:
peace on earth, and mercy mild,
    God and sinners reconciled!"
    Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
    join the triumph of the skies;
    with th'angelic hosts proclaim,
    "Christ is born in Bethlehem!"
    Note that..
    God and sinners reconciled... how...???
.. by simple childlike faith like I did at twelve years old... faith in the babe in manger our Saviour Jesus Christ.
    Praise His name!

Thanks for sharing, and God bless, Shaz in Oz.x

  4. I sleep each night with ear plugs-my DH's snoring was impossible to sleep through without them! I have them very quiet and I still use them! I think you will like them. This is my pair that go around my neck-

  9. I got one of Connie's cards too, it came with the hand carved ornament I won. Don't know how I got so lucky. It's beautiful, the ornament and the card. Those little Christmas cards Connie draws and colors are so pretty...better than any you can buy. I sure like your new dish cloth. Glad you made yourself something.

  11. Hi Betsy!I love your blog! I'm so glad you told me about it. Your dish cloth is beautiful. You can't beat hand made cards. They are the best. That's sad about the trees. We are surrounded by pine trees here. Hubby and family planted them 40 years ago and they are like part of the family. Have a wonderful blessed evening.

  13. Love your dishcloth. What size needles did you use and what brand of yarn? What pattern did you knit? I want to make some dishcloths for my daughter. Thanks, Martha

  15. Debbie's card is really cute! The headphones sound interesting...as a teenager I used to hide a transistor radio under my pillow and listen to a Little Rock radio station half the night!
    Stay safe out there! :)

  16. I enjoy seeing what little things you get in your little stockings each day. How fun. Connie is sure one talented person. I would be interested in finding out more about the ear buds if they help you sleep. Is there a site to look up to read about them? I have trouble going to sleep, staying asleep and getting back to sleep! I am glad you reminded me that Christmas is still the same because of the birth of Jesus covid or no covid. Nancy

  18. Thanks for posting, dear Betsy. I appreciate being able to see the beautiful cards your friends created, and the beautiful dishcloth you created, and the beautiful verse the Lord had recorded for us to encourage us to call to Him and listen for His reassuring answer "Here I am." 💜🤗🙏
