December 3

It’s time to open stocking number three!

Some candy and a little bottle of hand sanitizer. The one in my car is almost empty so this was a perfect gift!
Isn’t this the perfect picture of the year we have had with this virus? Chocolate and hand sanitizer!

I like to light these three candles in the evening. I used to use the little tea light candles in the two small candleholders, but I found two battery operated tea lights that are supposed to last 240 hours at the end of the season last year. I just opened them a couple of weeks ago and I’m hoping they will last through the Christmas season. One holder was given to me a few years ago by Teresa at “Teresa Kasner” over on my side bar. The other was one I found.  The lantern in the middle was a gift from our friend Nita. She was getting ready to give it to the thrift store and she thought I might like it. It also has a battery powered candle in it. I really enjoy looking at these three candles at night.

This is the blanket I mentioned in my post last night. It is the crochet along that is being done by Jane at the YouTube channel “Scraptastic Yarns Podcast”.  You can click on the magnifying glass on YouTube and type in the channel name find her videos. She has been posting videos 2-3 times a day so far during vlogmas. Every day she gives us a new stitch and demonstrates it at the end of one of her videos. Then you do five rows of that stitch in any color yarn you want to. It’s a way to use up little amounts of yarn. Of course you can choose to keep your blanket if you would like, but Jane is donating hers to charity and so am I.  So far we have done the half double crochet, seed stitch, and double crochet.

I began knitting the sweater that is to be a Christmas gift FOUR different times! It’s not hard. But it just didn’t look like it was going to turn out the way I wanted it to, so I kept changing things a little. I have knit the entire back twice if you add up all of the starts! Finally I called the recipient and asked about the yarn. It was a no go. I’m going to have to get a different type of yarn. The upside is, it means Dennis will get a new sweater out of this Knit Picks yarn. He loves the two sweaters I have knit him out of 100% wool because they are so warm. So far he has a tan sweater and a navy blue sweater from the same pattern. Now he will have an identical gray one, because that’s what he has requested. He really likes the way they fit so he sees no reason to change the pattern.

I hope you all had a great day today and I’m hoping your Friday is a blessed one. Stay safe and well.

Blessings and love,
Betsy

  1. Nice little goodies from your sock and I like your candles as well. I finally got done sending a video from my phone into my laptop and sent to USAF band, for participation of singing along with them in their virtual holiday concert. I was finally able to get it trimmed a bit so it wouldn't play all of it as the last song I messed up word wise. That's what happens when I start thinking of something while singing. I had to message Justin to figure how to get the video trimmed. It's been chilly today and will be most of the week. I need to get my Jesse tree up and put ornments on it for 25 days of Christmas/advent via a book I got a few years ago written by Ann Voskamp. Have a good rest of your week! Hugs, Beckyx------x

  2. I was just looking at battery operated candles on Amazon for some odd reason. We had them at Daughter's rehearsal dinner years ago and I had some left that I used during power outages and I really liked them but I seem to have misplaced them in this mess.
I love the little mini hand sanitizer. That's what I'm down to here. I can't find big bottles to save my life...literally.

  3. I didn't grow up with advent calendars but now I wish I had one (or more). Looks like so much fun. Love the candles. I'm burning a lot here now since it's been so gloomy (raining right now as I type). I like the blanket using different stitches. I don't think I have any plain colored yarn that would give me very far with something like that. A good idea to donate it to charity. Take care, Tammy

  5. It’s still difficult to find hand sanitizer here. I got a small bottle at State Farm when I went in to get a couple of their new calendars. Love the red stocking.

  11. I'm so glad you like the lithophane! After seeing yours lit up I lit a tealight candle in mine with the hummingbirds on it. That will be some fun blanket with all the new stitches and all the changes in color. A fun project for you. Did your friend not want wool? Take care. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  13. Love the Christmas candles! I'm with Dennis - when you find a pattern that you like the look and fit of, why change it? Just make 100 of them in different colors. :)

  15. I like the idea of the blue, yellow, amd beige colors together, very pretty. // Oddly enough, there is A LOT of sanitizer to be had in our area. Current sale of 24 ounce pump bottles for $1 at the grocery stores. The shelves have been overloaded with it since August! Also, a bajillion boxes of masks (regular medical type), 10 in a box for $1 at the grocery stores and walmart. // I like your cute little lights!

  16. I think I am enjoying your daily stocking gifts as much as you do! I love the idea of knitting a charity blanket with scraps. I knitted my husband a sweater a few years ago using an oatmeal colored yarn. He liked it so much that he requested one in red! He wears them al the time. I wish you luck with the new yarn!
