Snow Day!

We’re trapped. Well, maybe not completely trapped, but as good as. It’s raining ice pellets right now outside. In an hour or two it is supposed to change to snow and depending on who you listen to, we could get anywhere from 3 to 10 inches of snow by tomorrow morning. Since we live on top of this hill, we’re not going anywhere. Dennis is supposed to be flying to Spokane on Sunday for a few days so I hope the hill is passable by then. Meanwhile, I have lots to keep me busy. I’m a homebody and could happily just stay here all of the time and never leave. But then again, I love to travel, so I guess I have split personalities!😂

I finished the first sock with my West Yorkshire Spinners yarn. I have the cuff started on the second sock, but I’ve set it aside temporarily. I really like the way the pattern and colors change with this yarn.

This is why I said I set the sock aside for now. Yesterday I started this baby sweater for our new little granddaughter. It’s a new pattern to me and I think it is so sweet. It’s called the “Max Baby Cardigan” and is on Ravelry. I have a pattern for a newborn hat that has cables and I think I’ll make that for her too. Maybe I will have time to find the yarn to make a coordinating blanket. I know it won’t fit her very long as it’s a 0 to 3 months size, but I fell in love with this cute pattern and the sweet little cables. Obviously I still have the sleeves to do. Maybe I will get those done today since I’m not going anywhere! Then I need to find some cute buttons.
The next photo is my view right at the moment. I have music playing on YouTube that is set to winter scenes. I love the quiet music while I am sitting here in my cozy little space. As you can see, I have a great view of my yarn wall and there’s lots of room for Zoey to play. That pink playpen thing? We bought it when we first got her to keep her contained in the kitchen or wherever we were that we couldn’t keep a close eye on her. That didn’t last long. Very quickly a hole formed in the bottom. But both her and Lizzie love to play with it. It was the best toy we could have gotten for them! They go in the door and turn it on its side and they run around the entire room inside it like a hamster wheel! It is hilarious. They know how to close it in on themselves so all of the sides collapse and then they climb out and try to pull it open again. Zoey takes her food in there to eat. Hours of entertainment for all of us! Puppies are so funny.

And that puppy bed? Well, she does lay in it sometimes when I put it in the sunshine by the front door if it’s nice enough to have the door open, but most of the time you can find her in one of our our laps, sound asleep. She wants to be as close to us as she can get and we like that too.

I just realized as I wrote that last paragraph that this has turned into a puppy blog, almost more than a knitting blog. I’m so sorry about that for those of you who aren’t interested. I just pretty much write about my life and hope, that for some reason, you all find it interesting enough to come back and visit with me again.
Our master bathroom has hit a snag. Dennis took the vanity and toilet out over the weekend because the contractor and electrician were supposed to be here early Monday morning. Would you believe they both completely forgot? I texted the contractor in the evening on Monday and he admitted they had forgotten. They stopped yesterday for about 10 minutes just to look at the job and remind themselves of what needed done. It sounds like someone may be here next Monday. It’s a good thing we cancelled the floor people. They were supposed to be here this week refinishing our hardwood floors. And that was allowing several extra weeks for the bathrooms to be finished! We are rescheduled now for the floors the week of Valentine’s Day. I sure hope everything is done after that. I do know that remodeling never goes according to plan and when you’re told a month, you should allow three!

I know a lot of you have snow predicted for the next day or two. Be careful out there and stay safe and warm.

Blessings and love,
Betsy

  2. This is so lovely and peaceful. I also love to play quiet music when I am enjoying time to myself. Where I live the past few days have been quite cold too, complete with some snow the last week. I'm anticipating more snow tomorrow as well.

  3. I love reading about your days, puppies and all! We miss our dog and don't plan to get another one so I enjoy hearing about other people's pups. Sorry about your bathroom... they should give you a discount for forgetting to show up! We are expecting snow but the bulk of it won't be until Monday because we're on the east coast. Sounds like you all settled in ("hunkered down" as my grandfather used to say) and staying safe and warm. Enjoy your weekend!

  4. Great post, Betsy. That yarn wall is amazing! The cardigan is so sweet. I really admire anyone who can knit like you do. I've tried knitting, and have come to accept the fact that it is not something I'm made to do. :) Which is fine. I'm okay with that, and can truly appreciate the handiwork others do. When you were describing the pups inside Zoey's playpen, I can perfectly envision the whole "hamster wheel" scene. I laughed out loud. Love the Psalm. His love is, indeed, GREAT! Hugs.

  6. Nice little infant sweater. I usually make a bit bigger one years ago. One I made for Melody. I still have the pattern for the hat with same yarn but never finished it for some reason. I hope and pray that Dennis makes it safely to the airport. Its been cold outdoors with no sun viewable later today. Stagnet air for a few days, which isn't good. I like you posts about your puppies and your latest sock is pretty! Have a good weekend!!

  7. I love Puppy Tales! Boy those two are the cutest! And smart, too. I love that they created their own playground/gymnastics wheel. I bet you just die laughing when you watch them. The sweater is just beautiful.

We are forecast between 2-10 inches. The line for the low/high estimate goes right through our town. It is just cold here today, but when we took one grandchild home to a neighboring county, their roads were black ice. My daughter in law slid into a road sign on her way home and I almost slid getting out of the vehicle. I jumped back in and let my husband carry him up the yard. I cannot fall again! I am in for the weekend.

  8. I don't care what you write about. I come to visit you`regardless what the current subject might be. Remember a long time ago in a post I said my mama tried to teach me to knit when I was about 10 or so, but I just couldn't get the hang of it. I greatly admire those who CAN knit and I enjoy seeing what you are working on. I can't crochet either, although I'd really like to! I'm a sewing person (hand and machine) and I'm happy with that...I can make all sorts of cutesie pootsie stuff for my grandkids and great-grandkids. And the puppy doggos, hey, those two are fun to hear about, too! You really must get a video of the hamster wheel play! LOL! I come for the knitting and puppies and stay for the Jesus. (We say similar in our church... came for the coffee [or whatever] and stayed for the Jesus.) // We had a huge dirt cloud pushed by 50-60mph winds before supper, then it changed to rain, and now it's blizzard-snowing here. Our high yesterday and today was 60s, and now we're tumbling into the 20s. Sure glad we got John's shopping done today before this started! Now I go nowhere until it's all over and melted! Yack atcha later! Blessings!

  9. We are supposed to get some crazy weather on Sunday evening. You know I'll be staying in with the fire going and a whole lot of knitting to keep me entertained.

Never enough puppy talk. We had to go to Kohl's today to get coffee water filters (internet said they had them, store says they don't!!! ARGH!), but I happened into the puppy store right next door. Oh my gosh ... the cute puppies. There was a shibu inu that looked like a cartoon it was so cute and a "beagle?" that was just so sweet. I have beagle in quotes because I SERIOUSLY doubt it was a beagle. But, she was so sweet and so calm, while the rest of the puppies were pure puppy maniacs!!! And I love every second of it.

The baby sweater is so cute. I love those cables.

  10. What a sweet sweater-and those sock colors....wow! Stay safe in all that snow. They just downgraded ours to mostly rain which is fine by me. We've still got so much cleaning up to do after that last disaster. Every time I drive through town I am shocked by the damage it did to the trees.

  11. Oh, so many cute things--the sock is serendipitous, the baby sweater divine and the story about the hamster/puppies made me laugh out loud-thanks, I needed this post!

  12. Sorry your weather has turned nasty but it's wonderful that you're content to stay home, stay warm and cozy and knit, knit, knit. That tiny sweater looks so adorable.

  13. Great knits!
We are supposed to get the snow on Sunday/Monday. Right now it's just colder than a Witch's Britches!

  14. I love your blog, Betsy! Love the knitting comments, the puppy comments and everything else. Like how could a contractor and electrician both forget your job? Incredible.
I love that colorful sock and the precious baby sweater you're working on. You are uber talented!

  15. Oh, Betsy! The view from your chair is so homey and heartwarming! I don't blame you at all for not ever wanting to leave home! I hope things are better for Dennis by the time he has to leave. We are supposed to get quite a bit of snow this weekend, too, and I am praying it won't hinder our music practice we are planning for Sunday. God bless you, my friend.

  16. What a sweet sweater! I think you may have gotten our snow! This blog is yours and you can write whatever you want! Personally I really like it because it is real life...knitting, crocheting and dogs...perfect!

  17. My goodness! That sock is Gorgeous! LOVE the yarn! Love dog stories too. Hope your snow storm isn't too bad. They are calling for us to either get 24 inches of snow or flooding rain tomorrow. We are right on the line and they haven't decided which we'll get yet. Probably rain because we are prepped for snow. Ha!
