Clean Up Day

Happy Sunday morning to all of you. It’s storm cleanup day here in Omaha. Brad‘s been out shoveling their sidewalks, but the wind cleaned the driveway off for them. We weren’t so lucky. Dennis has been outside for about 45 minutes in -6°F clearing off moms driveway, ours and the sidewalks. I keep trying to get him to come in before he gets frostbite but will he listen? Nope.  We only ended up with about 2 1/2 inches of snow, but with a layer of ice underneath. And cold, cold, cold temperatures.

I only finished one pair of mittens yesterday. It was a lazy day of watching movies and doing a little bit around the house.
We didn’t go to church this morning. We debated, considering all of the hills, but the clincher was when we heard that our minister and several other people at Church have tested positive this week. We just have to be careful not to expose Mom to that anymore than we have to. And I am so sorry I forgot to tell you yesterday that her Covid test came back negative. Hallelujah!

I hope you are all enjoying your Sunday and that the new year ahead is a blessed one filled with health and love for all of you.

Blessings,
Betsy

  1. Man! THAT is COLD! Dennis is going to need a lot of tea to warm up after all that outside work.

The mitten sure is festive. That was the color yarn I used for my very first knitting way back a long, LONG time ago. Mine was by Red Heart and I'm pretty sure the color name was Fiesta. Isn't it crazy what we remember???? That was way over 50 years ago. LOL

I think you were wise to do church from home. Numbers here are going CRAZY and yet people still gather in big groups for parades and parties. :::shaking my head:::

THANK GOD YOUR MOTHER IN LAW DID NOT TEST POSITIVE, SHE IS ALREADY OLD AND NEEDS A LOT OF CARE, EVEN HERE THE CHURCH REPORTED MANY CASES OF COVID, TODAY WE WILL HAVE INTERNET WORSHIP, WE MUST TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES A LOT. I LOVE YOUR GLOVES THEY ARE SO COLORFUL. BLESSINGS.

  3. Brrr! It's really icy here, too, but our snow is melting finally. Cute mittens in a very fun color. Our church is online this morning thankfully.

  5. That's what I am afraid is going to happen here tomorrow. Today it's raining and in the high 60's and tomorrow we are supposed to get 8 inches of snow. All that rain is going to freeze overnight and make a huge mess as your cold comes our way. We've been so spoiled this winter with warm temps but I guess Mother Nature has other ideas for us right now. I love snow but not that icy stuff.

  6. Brrrrr... we have about six inches of light fluffy snow so hubby is going to wait until tomorrow to clean up as it is still snowing. I used to have a pair of minutes made of that same yarn. My grandmother made them for me when I was 8 or 9. Happy New Year!

  7. It sure looks snowy and cold out your way. It's the same here Now the forecast is for snow and freezing rain. That should be fun (not). We're so fortunate to be able to stay put until it gets a bit warmer. Take care!!
PS I'm so relieved that your MIL tested negative.

My little brother in CO now has a foot of snow on the ground...after the forest fires of 2 days ago! we have had some light rain and drizzle...tomorrow the high is forecast to be 30 and I saw the snow symbol on the map! Crazy. You need to not only protect your MIL, but also yourself Betsy! Stay safe.

  10. It's definitely sit and knit weather! We got about the same amount of snow overnight. Dave was excited that he finally got to use his snowblower.
We are limiting our contact with people to keep the virus away from Dave's grandma too.

  11. Still in the minus degrees here. We had 3 inches of snow, but the ice that came down with it has caused a lot of accidents. I watched idiots on the road back here behind our building all day yesterday and today floor it as they came around the curve just so their vehicles would slide... at one point, there was a cop sitting by the tree waiting for people to do that and caught a couple. It's supposed to be 47° tomorrow and then 53° on Tuesday so it'll all be gone soon. Blessings!
