Finally done…

Well, the house is finally almost done. The only thing left is for the contractor to come and put the replacement piece of tile underneath the shower door. (Dennis just told me that he just had a call from him and he’s coming this afternoon to put that piece of tile on.) And then it really will be done!

So today I’ll be showing you the finished floors. Whoo-Hoo! The kids came yesterday after church and moved the furniture back for us. We fed them pizza again and I count that cheap labor! My sister and Dennis‘s mom came over and had pizza with us too. I spent the afternoon cleaning up the sanding dust and putting things back in the china cabinet, etc. It feels so good to have things somewhat back to normal. And I hope we’re done!

Here is the great expanse right after they finished. It is much, much darker than we had asked for and they offered to redo the whole thing, but I was just done! And honestly, once the furniture was moved back, it didn’t look too bad. They were able to repair the few places that the wood had been damaged and also got the two water stains out. This photo was before Dennis put the quarter round back on the baseboards.

I even got all of the pictures hung back up on Saturday. Dennis had the brilliant idea of taking a picture of the photo wall before I took them down. That really made it much easier to hang them back up.

Not much of the floor actually shows once the rug and furniture is back in. Can you see my orchids on the upper right? They have been blooming since I bought the plant in June.

The dining room.

Another view of the living room. It’s a fairly large room, but the furniture is big too. I think it is the most comfortable furniture we’ve ever owned.

Yet another view.

My dear friend blog friend Cindy from the “Delighted Hands” blog over on my side bar, painted these wonderful pictures with her left hand last month after she broke her right hand. I love them. I very rudely asked her what she planned to do with them and if she was not keeping them, could I buy them from her? They are perfect in the new bathroom. I’ve already had a couple of compliments on them. Cindy, I can’t thank you enough for sharing your paintings with me. I absolutely love them.

This is on the other end of the mirrored wall. Isn’t she cutest little llama you’ve ever seen? I realize it’s not typical bathroom decor but I love her. Please feel free to give a suggestion for a name for her. 💜 We have decided she looks a lot like Zoey but has Lizzies ears!

This was Piper‘s valentines box for school. I love how she used the puppies to decorate her box. Isn’t she the sweetest little girl? She loves the sweaters that I make for her and wears them all of the time
Piper took this picture of Zoey after the guys got the furniture moved back. She’s quite the talented photographer.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you. I hope you all feel love today, especially from our Heavenly Father.

Blessings and love,
Betsy

  3. Loved your photos today! The valentine box your granddaughter made is awesome! Love the red sweater you made her too. Your furniture looks very comfy—-love it. I adore llamas! Worked at a B+B that had them. I would call yours Daisy 😉 I think you’ll grow to like the color of the floor, and as you said, a lot of it is covered up. Best of all, you’re back in your home! Cute pup—I’ve enjoyed pix of both of Zoey over the past months.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours!
    Peace,
    Aimee

  5. The floors look great! That color is very fashionable now. It's just like the floors in Daughter's new $$$$ house. Cindy's paintings are perfect in your bathroom. She was so generous to let you have them. It feels so good to give your work a good home.
Happy Valentine's Day to you and your Pups!

  11. I am glad the floors are finely put in and the color is good. Sad that you didn't see the color of it before it was put in but at least it looks good, to me! Llama in the bathroom is so adorable! The hand painted bubble photos look good as well!! I had a good day even though I was a bit tired early a.m. We had a good time together to eat out at Red Robin for my free bday dinner tonight. I am glad you are back at your house and done with contractors doing work. Life back to semi normal!! Happy Valentine's Day my dear, sweet friend!---Becky

  13. The floors are just gorgeous! But I bet, no matter how terrific they look, the fact that the house is done is the very very best part! Time for calmness and rest and relaxing in your forever home. You deserve it. How great that you have so much family to help and celebrate with you. The bathroom is lovely and I think llamas are all the rage. That is an especially cutie pie in your bathroom. And I will never see enough pictures of Piper. What a light in your life.

  14. Oooohhh! Aaaahhh! Very pretty floors! How wonderful to finally have everything done! It looks mahhhhvelous, my dear! Isn't it great to have strong family members to help move furniture? Ha! // Great Valentine box, Piper!! // I don't remember where I got the idea, but oddly enough, I did a painting a while back (like 3-4 years ago) that uses the same bubble idea! I'll have to dig it up and look at it again. I just hadve't gotten around to displaying all the artwork that I or our family have done over the years. // I had a llama spit on me at a zoo when I was in high school. No, I didn't do anything to antagonize, maybe it just didn't like people staring and I was the closest victim. But man, it stung. LOL! Your llama is much prettier, haha! Hugs and blessings, dear Betsy!

  16. So exciting to have the floors finished, a big huge sigh of relief for sure! Your home is so cozy and inviting, and the gray furniture is lovely! I really like gray, we bought new recliners a few years ago, and they were gray. They have been wonderful. Sweet Piper, what a precious girl! How she loves you and treasures your handmade sweaters for her. Such a sweet blessing! Enjoy your new floors :)
