He’s gone

Just dropping in today to let you know my brother Roger passed away this morning from Covid-19 around 9:00 central time without regaining consciousness.  My niece called me and then his nurse also called to tell me about his last moments.  I’m so impressed by the care he received from the staff at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.  It’s very hard being the only family member that doesn’t live close by in times like this.

I also want to thank each and every one of you for your prayers and the love you’ve shown to me on my last post. You are all so thoughtful and so very important to me.  I appreciate each of you.

Please continue to pray for his children, Becky, Michael and Terry as they were unable to be with him since he entered the hospital.  Also for my other brother and sister Lynn and Melanie.

We’ve been told there will not be a funeral because of the virus.  Not being able to say goodbyes will be very difficult.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”  Matthew 5:4

Thank you all again and many blessings and much love,
Betsy

  8. Dearest Betsy, I am sending you a warm, long, heartfelt hug from Dayle and me. I know how hard it was when I lost my dear sister last summer. I am just glad for you and I both that our beloved siblings lived a long life before they were called home. We love you. ((hugs)), Teresa

  10. This is a war of a different sort dear Betsy.. against a disease that demands all, and then also in war none able to say goodbye. We could have funerals of ten in our shut dowm with strict social distancing.
I wondered why he wasnt intubated to help with breathing, but maybe facilities not available, or maybe due to other health conditions. My friend's hubby in mid 70s in Scotland was saved by intubation for breathing tube, it was very touch and go..
I prayed Roger knew the LORD too, as you don't say, and that he felt the presence of the Lord all the way.
That nurse was wwonderful, I believe these dear ones are here as ministering spirits were in bible times. The Lord raises up such ones in hour of need, praise Him. I was praying every waking moment last night here in Oz, agreeing with all who were praying with you, dearest Betsy, for your precious brother, who was even more precious to the Lord...
As the wise loving Job said "the LORD gives and the LORD taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord. In all these things, Job charged not the LORD foolishly."
God sees what we cannot. As we pray, He works in individuals, families, countries in ways we cannot see, for eternal good.
May His everlasting arms be under you dear Betsy, and all who loved this dear precious mam.
The shortest verse in the Bible is "Jesus wept." He weeps. sis, with in your grief. He gets it.
Prayer hugs, much loving thoughts Shaz in Oz. xx

  12. I'm so sorry that your brother lost his battle with Covid virus. It's extra sad because you live far from your family and won't be there for a final good-bye.
Yesterday we received a phone call from my DH's family saying that his brother had died in his sleep. What a shock. We live 1500 miles away so we're in the same situation with any final good-byes. I think an outdoor funeral is planned and it will be "streamed" which I'm not sure exactly how we'll be able to see and follow along but hopefully we'll figure it out. These are difficult times.

  18. Betsy,

I'll continue to pray for your family.

The rules for a funeral are pretty strict here in Ohio at the moment. When my Mom passed away a month ago. We were able to have a funeral but we were limited to 10 people at a time during the showing. Less than 20 people at the funeral and just the kids at the cemetery. Everyone was required to wear a mask too.

  23. Dearest Besty, I am so very sorry for your family's loss. I heard the other day that we would all know of someone close to us who would lose someone but I didn't think it could be true. It is truly heartbreaking to know so many are unable to say proper goodbyes to their loved ones. Sending you lots of love and blessings of peace and comfort during this very difficult time. Take care of yourself. Hugs, Tammy

  24. Oh Betsy, I am very sorry. It is tragic to lose a sibling. This COVID pandemic is so tough on the body. IT is very sad not to have a funeral. I know you love your traditions within the Church. They are a huge comfort. I picture the incense going up as the priest swings it over his casket. Whether or not that actually happens, It is the prayer image I have for you today. Fireman and I prayed for you all many times yesterday. You are loved. You are not alone. We are all still praying for you and the family.

  25. Betsy, I am so, so sorry for your ;loss. I am praying for all of you. I am behind reading and so just saw that your brother was admitted to the hospital and now is gone. This is a horrible disease, killing so many and yet things have reopened and people are just going about their lives like nothing is happening. Your shawl looks amazing but I think that is not even important anymore. Again, my dear friend my love and thoughts are being sent your way. Stay safe.

  26. Betsy, I am so very sorry. I have only one brother, who is older, and lives in a different state. I cannot imagine how horrible this is, not to be able to be with him, to say goodby. You have my deepest sympathy. Hugs from WI

  28. There are no words meaningful enough to express my sorrow for your loss. I will keep you all in my prayers, dear sweet friend. ((hugs)). Bless you all. You and I know that death is not the end, that you will see him again in Heaven. I know that is of little comfort right now as you struggle with the deep void of not having him here right now, so I pray that the Holy Spirit will touch all of your hearts and wrap each of you with the peace that only He can give. ((hugs))

  33. Oh dear Betsy! I read on your IG post about your brother. It's such a shocking sad thing to have to go through. I feel so bad for his children and family not being able to be there with him until the end. I am praying for you, and for them. And I am praying for that poor nurse. Bless her heart. I can't imagine how difficult this is for her too. My heart aches with yours. I pray the sweet memories of times spent together in the past comfort your heart. With much love and prayer!!!
