Spring has sprung!

I think spring has finally arrived here in the Inland Northwest. We have had several days in the 50s and 60s and look, my flowering pear trees are blooming.

We have our chairs out under the deck so I can spend some time out there listening to the fountain and reading or knitting.

I have done very little crafting, but I do have both of these socks ready to finish the toes. Finally! I think I’ve had them on the needles for over three weeks.

Last Friday they got 7 inches of snow at Miss Piper‘s house. She built a snowman. I was happy to see she has on a pair of mittens that I made for her.  The snow was all gone the next day and yesterday while I was FaceTiming with Piper she was outside with no coat on at all. That’s Nebraska!

She was also showing me how she can put her own hair in pigtails now. She took this picture of the two of us and sent it to me. I couldn’t figure out how to take a photo but a seven-year-old can!  I made her that pink and white blanket for her birthday a couple of years ago. She specifically requested pink and white.

We did make another trip to the lake Sunday afternoon and finished opening everything up. Dennis has the water turned on and I took a little bit of food out to put in the cabinets. I meant to take some photos and forgot. I must admit, I am very nervous about going out there. People don’t seem to be following the rules of social distancing at all out there.  I know Dennis is looking forward to it, because he truly relaxes there.

I hope you’re all hanging in there. I heard yesterday on the news that our governor is planning to extend the stay home, stay safe rules for another 30 days after May 4. I know a lot of people are very upset about that because of their job situations. I honestly don’t know what the answer is and so I’m turning to prayer a lot.

Take care my friends.
Much love and blessings,
Betsy

  1. Kids seem to have NO problem learning technology. We'll be depending on them in the future to get us out of our computer snags. LOL

  2. I'm glad your pear tree is in bloom! And wow.. what cute photos of Piper. She's such a doll. I bet it was fun to see the trailer, though. I guess I could go out and sit in mine as it's just 40 feet away from our back door. LOL! Those are wonderful socks, my friend. I've only got 3 more flowers to make for my garland and then two leaves per flower and then to crochet them together. It's cute to see it on the TV cabinet. Then to finish my Dune blanket for Paige. THEN.. I want to make a hat. Or 3. LOL! Tell Dennis we said hello. Stay safe, my friend. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  3. Loving your Spring pictures Betsy! And doesn't Piper look so cute in her pig tails? Imagine 7" of snow one day and going out the next without a jacket!! Sounds like Boulder, CO. I say go to the lake and relax. You can stay in your trailer, or outside of it weather permitting - you don't need to go near other people. Just relax and enjoy it!!

  5. Oh yes lots of prayers. Your socks looks so pretty, as does your pear tree. Aww little Miss Piper is always so adorable and growing up so fast. Wear a face mask when you are out side at the lake, and distance yourself from others as much as possible, and wash your hands constantly, and bring lotion, my hands stay dry with all this washing so I am now the official lotion queen! Wishing you a lovely day filled with many blessings sweet friend. ((hugs))

  6. Your flowering pear trees are so very pretty. So is sweet Piper. Imagine, snow that heavy one day and it's gone the next!!!
My second oldest daughter works at the nearby hospital and she's coming by after work and we'll sit 6' apart on the driveway ( in the sunshine) and have a little visit. We do what we can to keep in touch.

  8. Such pretty blooms! I hope you get to go out to the lake, it would be a shame to miss it the first summer in your new trailer:)

  9. Nice blossoms on your pear tree. Glad it's nicer there for you. Glad you were able to go to the lake and open up your trailer. I enjoyed being out there with you awhile back. Most likely Oregon will open up more in May. I am able to go to work after hours to help restock shelves, price changes, face items tomorrow and next Monday and Wed. 3 hours each. Am planning on going back next month, at least one if not two days. I did go in the other day to get a few things. Some I could not find. Sigh! The soxs are nice. My legs are chilly right now so I have a blanket over them. That's what happens when one sits around in evening. I enjoyed seeing Piper's sweet smile and snowman. That's alot of snow! Take care my friend! Hugs and blessings!! Becky

  11. Piper looks so grownup in that photo! I am so glad spring finally made its way to where you are. We had beautiful weather and now it went and got cold again. I like cold usually but right now I need to get outside as much as I can.

  12. Your pear tree and Piper are beautiful. She is growing up so fast. I know for me I don't mind further restrictions as long as it is able to keep the from spiking again. I enjoy reading your posts every week. You are a sweetie.
HUGS, Take Care and God Bless

  13. Your pear tree is so pretty! And, I love the pink and white blanket you made for Piper. I don't know what the answer is, either. So many are feeling hopeless, at this point. Turning to God with all our hearts is the only answer, but I don't think most people are "getting it."

  14. Lovely post, lovely pictures of spring. I daily remind myself there is nothing new under the sun according to God so this crisis we are going through has been went through before. That keeps me encouraged during those low times. I know I want to be a good witness to others as we live out this latest. Blessings to you.

  15. Beautiful blossoms! Not warm enough to put the patio furniture out yet, but maybe soon since this week has been warmer. I think it’s too early to be lifting stay at home orders, but I keep telling myself that I can still stay at home even if others don’t.

  17. Dear Betsy,
How are you dearie? I found you through Cheryl's blog, Homespun Devotions, this evening.

I am so glad you have a wonderful place to read and knit. I noticed that your yarn is Knit Picks. It looks great on that pair of socks. Do you mind telling me, what type of sock yarn is it? Do you like it? Is it fuzzy? I am looking for a nice smooth yarn to make socks with. Knit Picks is nice, because it's not crazy expensive.

Oh golly, I feel like I'm playing 20 questions with you. Is that a photo of you? You look so friendly and kind. Piper is adorable. Weather is crazy.

Well, have a wonderful week. If you want to write to me directly, you can write to laura@harvestlanecottage.gmail.com.

  18. Isn't it great to have had such lovely sunshine the last few days! I've been at work in my garden, got my potatoes, peas, carrots and onions planted. Strawberries are doing great too. I just love springtime when it finally gets here! Glad to hear you and Dennis made your way out to the lake, that will be a wonderful getaway for you. Sweet pictures of you and Piper! The joy in your face was so precious to see as you visited with her! I know many people are feeling that the stay-at-home just can't be tolerated for much longer. We will continue in prayer for our leaders, and for the whole situation, only God has the answer! Much love to you sweet friend!

  19. I have that same smile that you have when I video chat with my grandkids. Thank goodness for the internet. I love the color of your socks. Looks like you'll be finished before you know it.

  20. Pear blossoms and snowmen!! I am glad you and Piper are enjoying both this Spring, and I am so glad you and Dennis are able to prepare your trailer for your occupancy!! Someone I know has the virus but is responding well to treatment and did not have to stay in the hospital for long. Months ago I added them to my prayer list. I have been asking for all I am praying for that they will finish the work the Lord saw for each one before the beginning of time. My oldest son and his wife had to close their businesses in NY about four weeks ago and my grandsons who are currently 14 and 12 are completing their school year online. Psalm 62:8 encourages me. Thanks, dear Betsy. šŸ’œšŸ§¶šŸ™

  22. I think our weather was like that when I grew up in Michigan, snow one day, shorts the next. Hope you can feel calm as you move towards more time at the trailer Betsy, I know you find so much peace there. Stay safe.
