Hot Sunday

Happy Sunday everyone. It’s been a good day. After Sunday school and church, my sister and I came back to the house and had lunch together and visited for a while. After Melanie left, I went out to Mandy & Brad’s house. We girls wanted to do a little bit of shopping and then Piper wanted me to watch a movie with her. We watched the new Disney movie “Raya and the last Dragon.” It was really good. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I enjoyed it. Probably the best part was lying on the couch with Piper cuddled up next to me and both of us covered with a blanket. The blanket sounds ridiculous since it was hot today, but it felt good with the air conditioning and sitting under the ceiling fan. Moments like this make the move worth it every time. Afterwards I came home and spent a couple of hours with Mom. I have two more days before I fly away to Spokane. I hope we don’t have any of those people you see on the news who get in fights with the flight attendants over masks!

I thought I would share a few photos of our new living room furniture. I finally remembered to take pictures during the daylight hours.

To my eyes it looks a bit crowded but then again, I was used to it with no furniture at all. My sister really likes the loveseats and might order two of them. Mandy says they’re the most comfortable couches she has ever sat on! I have to agree.

Dennis and I found the rug at Costco the day before he went back to Spokane. We had an electrician put the ceiling fan in before we got here. We know how important ceiling fans are in the summertime here. We’re going to replace the light on the far right by the front door.
The photos really don’t show just how well the colors all match. There’s a blue pattern in both of the chairs that matches the rug perfectly and the grays in the curtains match everything. Even though they weren’t bought together, it seems to work.

This is the light that we’re thinking about getting to hang by the door.
Here’s a better picture of the shape on the box, however this photo makes it look like bronze and it’s really brushed nickel.
I finished two more pair of mittens in the last couple of days and I’m still working on the border of Piper‘s blanket.

I posted this on Facebook, but thought I would share it here too. I thought it was hilarious because it is so true.

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday and always remember who to thank for all of the many blessings that we have. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Love and blessings,
Betsy

  2. Your furniture is beautiful. I don't think the room looks too crowded at all. It looks like you could have friends over and have a nice conversation all in the same area.

One thing about the light fixture .... something we found out in Florida. If the light isn't easily accessible, upright shades can be kind of messy. Little bugs tend to go toward the light and fall in. Climbing a ladder to clean them is a pain in the "bug". However, it is a very pretty fixture.

  4. Looks like you're getting settled in your new place. (I hope you have room for yarn!) So your heading back to Spokane soon? I'll bet the weather is cooler there. At least here today it's been in the low fifties with a little rain. Enjoy being with your GK; we've not seen our Chicago family since July of 2019, but are looking forward to seeing them in Chelan in August...hurrah! Take care, Betsy!

  6. I do have a favorite burner - front left! Too funny.

Gosh, your living room looks lovely! Did you share where you purchased your living room furniture? We need to replace ours. I bought it from a local furniture manufacturer who went out of business the year after I purchased it. It was very well made but is over 14 years old and was well used by my ten grandchildren. I think everyone has almost reached the age where it is safe to order new furniture.

What a lovely day with your family! Safe travels!

  7. Hi Betsy!! Your living room furniture and rug look really good!!! Glad you found furniture and got it delivered than have to wait for months. I was online a few hours this afternoon trying to find a car in Alaska. None available in 2 rental companies. Found one after I called the hotel where we are staying. Someone was able to get one from an app. I went online to look and I found one, had Phil look at it before I booked it. We looked at other cars as well but they were expensive. This isn't cheap but it's ok as it's cheaper then uber, I'm sure. Have a good flight WA this week. I thought is was this past Wed. Sorry! Hugs my friend! x

  8. Your living room looks wonderful, very smart but at the same time snug. It doesn't look crowded to me in fact it seems as if you have more space further over away from the sitting area. Is that gorgeous china cabinet in front of this where you are taking the photo? Is that a stair well behind the couch on the right? I do like the contrasting armchairs too! The lovely rug finishes it off quite nicely. You have good taste in furniture Betsy :-) The light you are thinking of buying is really lovely but I'd also suggest,if you haven't already done so,that you check the shades are easy to take down and clean. I brought the most beautiful light with 3 sparkling crystal shades in the centre. I loved it but it was a real pain to unhitch and take down each shade to clean. In the end it became such a chore that we changed the light fixture.. much to my disgust. Safe travels Betsy x Amanda x

The living room looks beautiful--you really did a great job on making all of the elements work together! Superb and comfortable!

  13. You really have made your new house a home!! We can't live without our ceiling fans. I've got them going full blast right now with the AC on. It's been so hot here for the last few days. I hate it. The heat doesn't bother The Mister and he can't understand why I don't want to go out and about when it is 90 degrees out so we fight about it all the time. Summertime-ugh.

  15. Wow it is just beautiful Betsy! You did great! Did you go to that huge furniture store in Omaha? It is supposed to be the largest in the area, we were there once. We bought computer chairs, luckily we had a pickup back then and could haul them home. Love that rug too! You will like having an area rug vs carpet! I hope you have a wonderful safe trip!!
