Sunshine and cold

It is an absolutely gorgeous morning here, the sun is shining brightly but it is cold, cold! You can tell how windy it is by the flag blowing in the breeze. We even had snow all day Monday after having a cookout on Sunday afternoon with highs in the upper 60s. Such crazy weather changes. We have freeze warnings for the next few days, but next Monday is supposed to be 87F!

I have made a little bit of progress on Piper‘s blanket. It is very wide and I just don’t seem to have the crocheting/knitting time I had before so it’s going to take a while. I expected that and it’s fine. Some things are more important.

Mandy picked up this embroidery kit at the Target dollarspot. Piper wants to learn and I’m looking forward to teaching her soon.  It is mainly satin stitch so it should be an easy project.

Look at this mess! These are curtains for the living room, patio door, spare bedroom, office, our bedroom and kitchen. They all came about 10:00 last night by Amazon. Mandy is going to help me put them up this weekend since I have no drill to install the curtain rods.  They also all have to be washed to get the wrinkles out.

I spent one evening putting Dennis’s desk together. I hope to work on the file cabinet this afternoon.

I thought I would share this picture with you. I made it for Mom right after dad passed away in 1999. It’s one of my favorite crossstitch pieces I’ve done. She loves reading about angels and how they are around and helping us all of the time, although most of the time we are unaware of it.

The visiting nurse will be here in about half an hour so I need to get over to Moms. Monday I had my oil changed and got a grocery pick up order, along with going to the hardware store and stopping at our new credit union. There doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day. It’s been a crazy couple of weeks, but I’m hoping things will start to calm down a little bit. I’m amazed at how much I was able to get in my little car that has helped make the house feel like home. I have photos sitting around, my own bedding, towels and toiletries.  I have my own dishes, pots and pans and silverware. People are still amazed that it all came in the car with me.

I’m finally able to keep up with your blogs, although sometimes it’s very late in the day before I can comment if mom has an early appointment somewhere. And then yesterday the screw fell out of my glasses when I got dressed. Have you ever tried to find the screw when you can’t wear your glasses? Ha! I couldn’t see anything. So I had to make a trip to the eye doctor to get my glasses repaired. It’s always something isn’t it? I was able to get Mom out of the house though, to ride along with me and afterwards we stopped at Runza and picked up lunch. Have any of you heard of Runza’s? They were invented here in Nebraska and they are delicious. Hamburger, cabbage and onions inside of a bun.

I hope all is well with you and I’ll try to be back here soon. Maybe I’ll have hung curtains to show you!😍

Much love and many blessings,
Betsy

  6. Lots of things to do in a new to you house. A bit at a time. I remember visiting a friend in Omaha 15 years ago. A friend said to check out Panera cafe. It was delicious. Asiago cheese bread is a fav of mine. One close to where we live now. Try it, you'll like it. Flatbread pizza is delicious too. I'm getting things cleaned up in back part of house soon. Transplanted a couple plants last night. A few more today. Have a blessed day my friend!!πŸ˜ŠπŸŒˆπŸ‘—πŸ™πŸ°

  7. You're one busy lady! I think it's so neat that you have a new home to "feather your nest" in. I look forward to seeing your curtains up. Good job on putting the desk together. I bet you miss Dennis for things like that not to mention his company! Can you crochet or knit while you're with his mom helping out? Give Piper a hello from us. Don't work too hard! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  8. Whew....you really have your hands full! You did a great job on the desk. That's a nice set up. I've been trying to get The Mister to get one like it. He works on an old kitchen table that belonged to my first husband. I hate it.
The cross stitch is so sweet. I started one to memorialize my mom but I've never finished it. I think I bit off a bit more than I am capable of with it and I lost interest.

  9. There's so much to do and also you don't ever get an entire day to attack all the things you want to do but hopefully soon things will ease up a little.
I'm impressed that you were able to put that desk together. You're very handy.

  11. Bravo for so much progress! Now be sure you schedule in rest/crochet time!! It feels so good to get things put together properly doesn't it. I was amazed that I bought and assembled by myself a wrap around a planter metal trellis several weeks ago, and Elisabeth and Gary were impressed!😁The counted cross stitch angels are a beautiful reminder of the angels all around us! πŸ’œπŸ€—πŸ™

  15. I know that Piper is more excited in having her grandma near by than in having her blanket finished :) You are both going to have fun teaching her to embroider and won't it be nice when your curtains are all up. That will give your new home a much more cozy feel.
    God bless you sweet friend.
I'm going back to the eye doctor today, experiencing a lot of pain in my right eye since the surgery. Please keep me in your prayers.

  18. That Runza sandwich sounds delicious!

Sounds like you are busy, but *happily* busy. That's a good way to be. Your new place will feel like home before you know it, especially when Dennis moves down.

  21. Hi precious sis, thanks for your comment on my Craft blog today, your bright witness in comment at top of comments was specially appreciated, may it shine to others.
I think my Christian blog post on "why did God give mum cancer?" It might have published when you were super busy. Its the last one on blog, so just hit link below, thats if you hadn't read it.
I'm amazed at how you're accomplishing things, Betsy.. even Dennis's desk etc that's a skill I'm not great at, putting together flat pack with inefficient instructions!
Love Piper's blanket and cactus embroidery, I've my two pieces I did at 8 yrs old.
Am weary so wont chatter anymore. Praying for you all, that curtains are up ok and all folds gone.. that's a chore!
Thanks for sharing, and may God bless and keep you and all whom you love safe and well.
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz. X
