Lots of pictures!

I’m sorry it has been a week since I posted, so now I have way too many photos to share with you. I will try to keep the words few so you can enjoy the yarn and the fall photos!
Sophie has come to stay while her mom and dad are gone for two weeks on a Caribbean cruise. She sits on my lap and keeps me company while I knit and watch yarny podcasts.  The one you see on the television now is “little drops of wonderful.”  That is Allie and she lives in the UK with her husband and two daughters.  Many of my favorite podcasters have been putting up videos every day for the month of October. It has been wonderful!

We had to make a trip up to the lake last weekend to finish winterizing a few things we had forgotten on the new trailer. It’s a whole new learning curve when you get a different trailer!  The trees were absolutely stunning although the skies were gray.
There was some beautiful crimson color on the still green grass.

Gorgeous, and one of my favorite places on earth.
Tiny little Johnny jump-ups were still trying to bloom even in the almost 0° weather.

Everything looks sad and forlorn with the trailers all closed up for the winter and Pine-needles everywhere from the wind.

Then, the next morning we went from bright sunny skies on one side of the house to this happening on the other side. Completely unpredicted.

The rhubarb was trying to send up some new leaves before the cold weather hit again! Happily the snow didn’t last long this time and was gone within an hour.

I took the next three photos last night from the Hobby Lobby parking lot. An absolutely stunning sunset!

Now for the knitting. I made eight more pairs of mittens for next fall. I am ahead of my self-imposed goals for each week with 10 pair already finished.

I found some of my favorite dishcloth cotton at Hobby Lobby. That looks like a taupe color in front, but it is actually gray. The light is not very good this morning. These are the last two Christmas gifts I need to make and then we are all done with Christmas shopping! Hurrah!

I also bought this scrubby yarn yesterday. These will also go in a Christmas gift. I can’t decide if I like the poofier scrubby‘s better or the flat one. The flat one is double thickness although it doesn’t look like it. Which do you prefer?  By the way, all of Hobby Lobby‘s yarn is on sale this week for 30% off if anyone out there NEEDS more yarn!

These were the other two colors I purchased.

I have also started a new baby blanket. This is actually a lavender yarn, although the light makes it look pink.
I also finished one of my lace socks, although I have put them aside to finish some things that were more time oriented.

Whew!  That was a lot wasn’t it? I always think I don’t have anything to share with you and my life is boring and then when I start looking at my photos I discover I have more than I thought. Please forgive me for the photo overload but I didn’t know what to leave out.

Dennis’s sister Karen is supposed to be able to go home today after almost 2 weeks in the hospital. She will have to return in about a month for a very serious and involved surgery. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

I did receive 17 more Botox injections in my back yesterday. Time will tell if they help. Thank you for all of your good thoughts about that too.  Right now my back is very tender and sore today so I’m going to take it a bit easy.

Wishing you all a lovely, lovely day. I appreciate each and everyone of you very much and I thank you for hanging in here this long with all of these photos.

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.”  1 Corinthians 16:13-14

Blessings,

  1. Love your pictures. The trees always leave me in awe of their massive beauty at this time of year. It makes me smile to see all that He has given to us, He speaks to us of His love even in nature. My favorite dishcloth yarn is also I Love This Cotton (which I have to buy some this weekend for a special project). What color is the light purple above the gray that looks like taupe? Love that pattern. Is it a sort of purl two knit one sort of thing? I patterns like this that stand out strong and give texture. I love it when you have lots of pictures, so please keep them coming....and you know me, I've never seen a yarn skein that I did not want to knit/crochet up. Wishing you a day filled with many, many blessings sweet dear friend. ((hugs))

  4. Hi Betsy! I love your pictures. I'm sorry about the 17 injections. I think I'd in more pain from the shots than the back pain. Yikes!
I crocheted some hot pads recently and they work perfectly. I'm planning on starting Christmas gifts for my family because I have so much yarn and I promised myself I would not buy more yarn. So when I go to Hobby Lobby I only touch the yarn! LOL Have a blessed weekend!

  5. Love the bright scarlet leaves! It is rare to see such vibrant colors in this area. Kudos on exceeding your mitten goal thus far. Keep up the good work.

  9. Sophie, will be happy to sit in your lap and make you feel better. My Buffy seems to know where I'm hurting and finds a place to cuddle that makes me feel better. I'd be willing to bet Sophie has that ability too. She looks just like Buffy.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  10. So glad Karen is able to go home but still a complex surgery does not sound good. Hope your injections went well. Little Buddy has 11 and they are so deep. I get 35 for my head but they are much more superficial. Still they do hurt. I wish you a wonderful weekend Betsy. You amaze me with all you do for others and are an inspiration to me.

  12. My sweet friend, you must knit in your sleep. How do you get so much done?
    Beautiful sunset photos.
Thank you again for your prayers. We had an emergency room visit, but happily were sent home after 5 hours, with medications for bronchitis. At least they didn't admit him like our last visit. He was so releaved when they let us go home.
God bless you both and Happy November :)

  14. I just love the new mittens.. when did you deliver the last bunch? Do you get to give them to the kids yourself? I hope your back settles down. I tweaked mine on our trip and have been walking very slowly. I think it might have been all the different beds and long hours in the car. Dayle's back is also hurting. We're such a pair. Is the scrubby yarn hard on your hands when you work with it? I took down all the Halloween decorations today, put on a fresh tablecloth and put some T-day things out. Have a super weekend!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  15. Sending healing thoughts to your back AND for Karen.

I think the poofy scrubby is prettier and will probably SCRUB better. But, both look pretty nice.

  16. Oh I love little Sophie, isn’t she the cutest! Enjoy, love your mittens, and always good to get ahead and bargain will too, God is good.
Praying every one of those 17 injections are extremely effective with no set back just like first lot, dear precious Betsy, as for having done all your Christmas shopping I haven’t even thought about it, cards yes made half of them but not shopping.. I’m not in mood for it some reason.
Love the lake too, Betsy, your Johnny jump ups want to stay awhile too and keep fall there and no winter!
    You’re in my prayers.
Thanks for sharing, and God bless, Shaz in Oz.x

  17. I like the poofy scrubbies best. They look as thought they are the double strand ones! Mine look flat but not as "thick" as your flat one. Beautiful work on all your things! The edge on the dish clothe is beautiful! I wonder how you do that. (I used to knit but am so slow. I guess I never got in the rhythm of it.)

  18. Right when I had written a good paragraph or 2 the power went out here...right back on but why? No wind, sunshine and now I have to start over....well....I love your yarn for sure and the gorgeous photos of the lake and the sunset. Sophie is a cutie pie! The baby blanket is so pretty with that yarn and the pattern you're using! Enjoy all your projects and I hope your back feels better....ouch!

  19. Wow! Gorgeous sunset pictures Betsy. What colors!! I'm hoping those back injections work for you and that your soreness/tenderness is gone by now. You must be getting excited with Thanksgiving so close - isn't that when all your children will be with you? How wonderful! Wishing you a gorgeous (warm???) week.
