Busywork

Hello Everyone!
I just had to show you this cute card that Miss Piper sent to her Papa for his birthday.  Isn't it cute?
I'm buried under a pile of squares!  I have spent the past few days crocheting around squares and putting them together into blankets for the Veteran's home and also for the children's emergency shelter.  These squares were mostly made by Nita and then I crochet around them.  I''m joining this pile right now....
This box of squares came from Barbara in Oregon.  She also sent two beautiful completed afghans for the Veteran's Home.  Wasn't that sweet of her?
More squares from Nita!  I have completed two childrens size blankets but they're in the washing machine right now and I forgot to take a picture.
This is what I did over the weekend.
Aren't these little hearts sweet?
I also started a new poncho in three different shades of grey.  I think this will be much better for me.
Thank you for all of the wonderful suggestions as to what I could do with the other poncho.  I kept my eyes and ears open at church for someone who might like/need it.  I have found my victim....er recipient.  I will take it to her next week.  I so appreciate each one of you and the ideas you had for me.

I've had a busy morning with a doctor's visit, stop at the post office and library and then to the church to defrost the freezer and empty and scrub out the baptistry.  Both time consuming but not difficult.

I was officially released from Physical Therapy after only five visits.  I can turn my neck both directions and the hope is that will take care of my back also.

We're having many grey and cloudy days with freezing rain each morning so far this week.  That's even worse than snow in my mind so I don't go anywhere until it warms up a little bit.  Yesterday on my way home from taking Chloe to have her nails trimmed I saw three different accidents happen where the cars just couldn't stop because of black ice.  No one was going fast at all and I think they were true accidents.  I decided that all of the things I did this morning (that were planned for yesterday), could wait one more day and I would come home where it was safe.

Take care my friends and stay warm and safe, (or cool), wherever you may be.

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."  Jeremiah 29:13

  1. I'm liking the colors on this one a lot, but they look like shades of brown instead of gray on my computer! I'm putting lots of brown in the one I started in green. I worked on it several hours yesterday evening and into the wee hours of the morning. I thought the cowl would never be done. It's so big and squishy using the Softee Chunky yarn! I just want to lie down on it (if it were much bigger). I caught a dog using my other one for a bed yesterday. Naughty dogs. Your little felt hearts are SO CUTE! Very sweet.

  5. Lovely card. Beautiful squares for your lovely blankets, a great thing to do for veterans and children in shelter so thoughtful. You have made a great start with the poncho I am afraid I haven't done any crochet since my surgery I just can't seem to get into it. Glad the therapy went so well. Stay warm and safe.

  7. Such beautiful handiwork and such a kind, generous, loving, Jesus-like heart you have! The afghans are just beautiful. The thing I can never figure out is how to join the squares. Someone gave me a bunch of granny squares, but each time I have tried to join them, I can't get them to be smooth...it is like there is a "ridge" between each square. I don't know what I am doing wrong, but anyhow, your poncho will be lovely, too. I love the colors and pattern you are using. Please do drive safe, and I hope you don't have to get out too much. God bless you for being so kind to others.

  11. Hello my dear friend... I have to say that I do miss you so very much, but your thoughtfulness touches my heart in so many different ways... You are a great giving and sweet friend who I treasure and thank God every day for putting you in my life.
Martin went to get the mail last night and as he came in he said I had a package for me from "Betsy" ... I dropped everything and hurried to open ... With the same expectation as when you came to visit us in December ... I was so very y when I opened and saw the cutest heart ... I could see your face smiling at me ... It made my heart so happy and it made my day ... Thank you, thank you my dear friend . You are a treasure .

  12. Hello - just found your blog. You are very busy with joining squares for blankets! Some of the ladies at my church and I have knit and crocheted blankets for various good causes. Some have gone to help those with leprosy in India and some have stayed at closer to home at our local our folks home. Your little hearts are gorgeous. It is wise to stay home when the weather is so bad. We are having snow and ice now and saw a bad accident early one morning last week. Thankfully the driver was fine but the same can't be said for his car or the fence.

  13. Wow! Look at all those squares! What wonderful organizations you give to also. I'm glad to hear you are getting help for your pain. Pain can really slow a person down when they have much to do!
Wish your hubby a happy birthday! What a cute card from Piper. I love your poncho so far....you do such nice work.
Yes, stay home if you don't have to go out in bad weather....sometimes just a few hours can make a big difference. I found out those Blizzak tires are made by Bridgestone.....I'll be getting some when I move back North. I have a Tahoe so I already have 4 wheel drive but those tires sounded wonderful.
The hearts are just precious! Those would be so nice to make for Valentine's Day....prettiest ones I've seen so far! Have a great day and thank you again for the pattern and the Scentsy! Love them both and the giver too! Hugs....Sam
