A Finish

Happy Monday my friends! We had sunshine today for the first time in over a week. It was so good to see the blue sky once again. I took Chloe for a walk down past the airport today right at sunset. Oh how I wish I had taken my phone with me because I saw the most beautiful sunset reflecting off of the snow on Mt. Spokane.

I finished the Rainbow Ripple Baby Blanket. I used a full two skeins of Lion Brand Cupcake yarn in the forest path colorway and a size H crochet hook. This yarn was a gift to me by an anonymous donor. I can’t remember now for sure, but I think I had 18 inches of yarn left when I finished the last round. I was definitely playing yarn chicken! I have one more skein of the same yarn in a different color that I will start a blanket with probably tomorrow or Wednesday.  I will knit the next blanket, because knitting uses significantly less yarn than crochet.
You can also see one lonely pair of mittens there. I took this photo last night and I only had one pair done.

Today, I knitted three more pair of mittens.

Chloe loves it when we have the fireplace on.  She always acts depressed on Mondays when Dennis goes back to work. He takes her on at least two long, long walks in addition to her trips to the dog park every day. I usually only take her on one long walk, besides her dog park visits.  After all, I have my housework and crafting to do!

I got a really good deal on a couple of steaks in my grocery order, so yesterday afternoon we decided to grill them. It was about 28°F when Dennis started the grill. He bundled up and stood out there and cooked those steaks!   Brrrr.  My goodness they were good. I also made breakfast potatoes and a Caesar salad to go along with it.  He had his orange stocking cap on, plus the hat that our “adopted” daughter Harumi sent him for Christmas.

Not a lot of other news. We watched two different church services online yesterday and just read and watched a couple of shows. A nice relaxing weekend.

Oh, I was asked what I was going to do with the “Sheep Virtues.”  I finished outlining all of the sheep, but I forgot to take a picture and it’s in the drawer in the bedroom where Dennis is asleep now. I will put a photo of it in my next blog. I probably won’t do anything with it for finishing until we get settled in the house and then I will frame it and hang it somewhere. I was going to frame it and hang it here in the RV but I really don’t want to have to go into any stores right now.

Speaking of the house, the sons of the owner of the house in Omaha has agreed to sell it to us. Yippee! We talked to a realtor Saturday morning and she’s going to start drawing up the paperwork. We haven’t heard anything since then, so I hope it’s all going well. We’re both getting excited now and would like to start making plans. Right now we’re hoping to make a trip back there as soon as the passes are clear, probably in May.  Since there is no loan, the realtor thought that we could probably have possession within 2 to 3 weeks. However, we told her we were in no hurry and we had told the family that they could have 2 to 3 months to get everything that they wanted out of the house, longer if they need it.  We have no reason to get it any earlier anyway.  When we go in the spring we’re hoping to be able to have possession and start cleaning the house out. I think we’re going to hire someone to paint the inside before we move in. Mandy says the person who painted their house was very, very reasonable and did a great job, so I think we’ll talk to him.  We have always done our own painting, so it seems strange to think about hiring someone. However, it will be much easier to have someone else do it since the inside of the house hasn’t been painted for at least 20 years and it all needs to be done. It’s a smaller home than our house here in Spokane, and that’s fine with me. It’s less to clean right?!

I hope you all have had a restful weekend. I am so glad to know that I don’t have to rely on my own strength to face the many changes in my life. The Lord is my rock and my strength.

Blessings and love,
Betsy

  2. *C*O*N*G*R*A*T*U*L*A*T*I*O*N*S*!* on getting the house! I kind of had a feeling it was too good to pass up. It's nice to have something like that to look forward to. The star shaped blanket turned out so pretty. I'm enjoying being back to crocheting.. I had kind of lost my cro-jo. Kind of fun to have it all freshly painted.. what colors are you going to have it painted? I love our yellow and lime green walls. I will look forward to you sharing you new home decorating and all. And you're right, I have a lot of cabinets but they like me. I hope you kept your Hoosier cabinet to use in your new home. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  3. Chloe sure is a lovely gal. Congrats! Great news on the house. Everything seems to have worked out just right which is very good to hear after all the bad news and heartache of 2020. The blanket is really nice. Makes me want to make another granny star. Dc and an H hook are my favorites! Take care!

  4. Congrats on the new house!!! How exciting for you.
Your blanket is beautiful! Pup makes the same face as Chloe when we don't take her out everyday. It's too muddy for being in the yard and going for a walk these days is too complicated to do it every day.

  7. Your blanket looks SO pretty. I'm glad you got a new to you house in Nebraska. We had a lot of sunshine Mon as well. When I looked at the window this a.m. I saw spots of frosted grass and neighbor's house across street had frost in their roof. Bbrrr! I saw stars late night as I took trash out to bin. I like scripture you shared. Take care my friend and have a blessed day. πŸŒˆπŸ’œπŸŒΉ...Becky

  10. I am thrilled that all went well with the house and that you can fulfil your dream of moving back to family. Love the bay blanket, stunning. The mittens always make me smile, knowing that that their little hands will be warm and know a little love in their lives. Such a good idea to have the house painted before you move in. Take care.

  11. I showed Zach the picture of Chloe, and he wants to know what kind of dog she is. He thinks she is a lab or part lab? Also, do you have any photos you can share with us of your new house? Exciting times ahead for you and Dennis! So much to look forward to! Many blessings to you both.

  12. Congratulations on the house... it seems that things are falling into place for you. I'm sure Dennis' mother will appreciate having you right next door. Your blanket turned out so pretty. We are having cold weather too... brrrr. It's been such a mild winter so far that this cold snap is most unwelcome! Have a good week.

  13. Wow .... you're getting that house you were talking about? That's awesome news. I'm happy for both of you. I bet Dennis's mother can't wait! When abouts are you moving...sometime this summer? Can't wait to hear all about it.

  14. Betsy!!!!!! What fantastic news!! The house! The timing. PIPER!!!!!! The blanket is so lovely I admire your talent!
Everyone said Huck sulked whenever i went to work. HE actually went upstairs to the bedroom and sleep ...... That is one reason I don't think I want another dog. Everyday when I went out, even to the store, he wanted to come with me. I loved every single moment with that dog. But the intensity I can't take on. The cats care, but they also seem okay with my comings and goings. .
