Glorious Sunshine

Happy Wednesday everyone. After 4 1/2 straight days of constant rain I woke up this morning to blue, blue skies and a promise of almost 70° today. Since it’s been in the 50s for the last four days that would be very welcome.

The socks are finished and are almost exactly matching. That turquoise stripe in the middle of the heel turn made things a little wonky, but I don’t think anyone will notice.

I started a corner to corner blanket yesterday. The yarn I’m using is lion brand, ice cream big scoop, in the strawberry colorway.

This morning on my walk with Chloe I spotted a blooming peony bush.  If you look closely you will be able to see four bees busily working inside the bloom. I guess since they’ve been inside for four days because of the rain they have to be extra busy today and share the blossoms!

I thought I might show you the end tables on either end of the sofa in the trailer. I love having a little space to decorate with some of my favorite things.

The photo in the front below was the last family vacation we all took before the kids started moving out. It was to the Oregon coast which was our favorite place to go camping when the kids were growing up.

Yesterday Piper and I were writing back-and-forth to each other on messenger when she sent me this photo.

So I sent her this one back! We have so much fun writing to each other and she sends me little videos too.

Every year for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day we get a photo of her with this chalkboard with the appropriate caption. She came up with this pose herself for this year‘s Mother’s Day photo! Pretty smart for a seven-year-old.  When I asked her about the picture, she told me it was because of COVID-19. It’s too bad that little kids have to even know about such a thing.

I hope that you are all healthy and able to enjoy the summertime weather. So far we’ve been having more of a late winter early spring but I think it’s getting ready to change. Some years our summer doesn’t truly start here until the Fourth of July and this may be one of those years.

The above photo is the view during the day and below is sunset from Alex and Tara’s new apartment in London. Isn’t it a beautiful view? I love the houses and all of the trees. I just had a nice long visit a few minutes ago on FaceTime with him and Tara. I am so grateful for technology.

Alex is still in quarantine there for another week or so. With a view like this I could be in quarantine very easily!

I’m praying you will all have a wonderful day
Blessings, Betsy

  1. Your socks are so cute. I've never made crocheted socks before but it looks like a fun project. Maybe that's something I should do as summer project and if I get good at it, I will crochet socks for the family. Have a blessed week!

  2. Great job on the socks! Your cool weather has moved this way as the next three/four days will be cool and wet. Technology and all that it offers makes life so much easier and fun, too.

  3. Your socks and blanket are beautiful, Betsy! I admire the photo you got of your pretty flower and busy bees, as well. I am grateful for our techie ways to communicate also. My oldest son (50!) texted me Monday a photo of him with two fish he caught in the bay near his home in Queens,NY. It was great to see him healthy and happy for a good catch during a difficult time. I am headed out to walk the condo mile loop and enjoy the sunshine and blue skies! Thanks for posting and sharing the encouraging verse.πŸ’œπŸ™πŸ’œπŸ€—πŸ’œπŸ§Ά

That is a lovely picture of you. It's wonderful that you and Piper can message back and forth as often as you like.
We have also had a very wet June so far and today finally the sun shone ( mostly) and tomorrow is also forecast to be sunny. I plan on spending most of my day outside.

  7. I knew that photo was of England as soon as I saw it! What a lovely view they enjoy. I hope you'll be able to visit them before long.

Piper is one smart and cute little cookie!

  8. Socks your made are looking comfortable!! I enjoy the photos of where Alex is at in London. Such a nice place to be. Been there, seen that! We did some fun things for Lydia's 4th birthday, via messenger. Making faces is fun! Marion and Polk counties are opening up into phase 2 on Friday. Masks required for public places. Weird! Even in restaurants. Hopefully not while eating! I am enjoying the coast today as I am watching virtual Young Living convention. In a hotel room and able to connect to big screen tv. I will be out and about later afternoon and evening. Need to head for bed soon as I am a bit tired and need to be up and watching at 9 a.m. 12:30 comes out with new products I am excited to see!!! Have a good week and God bless you, my friend! Be safe!

  9. The photo of Piper is adorable. It will be a good memory of "masked" days when someday in the future we aren't wearing them anymore.

  11. The socks and blanket are beautiful, you are a very talented knitter. Love the masked photo of Miss Piper so sad that they have to know and go through this pandemic. My own Grandchildren are all quite knowledgeable about it and in many ways keeps them safer as they know the 2m rule. The trailor looks so comfortable and homely, great place to spend time. Take care.

  14. Betsy, as always your pictures brighten up my day. I don't know if you saw my podcast yet or not, but my note to my grandchildren earned me a little video time with them and their mom. I agree, technology is great. Praise God

  15. I love those socks!!! That is such a pretty colorway. That photo of Piper in the mask is precious. When my Grands came for their short outdoor visit I felt the same way listening to them talk about the virus. It's like their lives are on hold. It broke my heart.

  16. Oh my, thank goodness for technology, right! What did we do way back before all these things? (Answer: wonder what everyone was doing lol.) Your socks are amaaaaaazingly beautiful and very comfy. I agree, our children and grandchildren should not have to know about a pandemic or the hardship and heartache it brings. You and Piper look so cute! ❤️ By the way, I just want to say how very sorry Jerry and I are to know of your brother's passing. Such a horrible thing this virus is, pushing its way into our lives and causing such pain. Know you guys are in our daily thoughts and prayers, we're so very very sorry, Betsy! Sending you much love and a huge cyber hug! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
