Pictures!!!

I think I'm up and running with this new laptop.  I think.  All I can say is that we never, ever, ever, ever will buy anything from Best Buy ever again.  Gosh!  Did I emphasize that enough?  We think that we will really like the computer we bought, once the learning curve is complete, but...the Geek Squad failed us big time and completely wiped the hard drive on our last computer and then told us that the data was gone when we brought it in.  Um...not true.  We were still using it when we brought it in to transfer the data to the new laptop!  So we took our "My Cloud" device in for them to use to transfer to the new computer.  Yesterday, they said our back up "My Cloud" was empty.  What?!  They basically told us that they lost all of our information, documents, photos, etc., on both the original desktop computer and our external hard drive storage.   This was after we paid them $200+ to transfer our data.  To say we were upset was an understatement.  I took the new laptop and iPad to church this morning and a friend was able to transfer photos and then Jeremy looked at the "My Cloud"  device this afternoon and transferred documents from it.  In other words, nothing was lost, but the Geek Squad didn't have a clue.  They did nothing except take our money.  They had the new computer all week and didn't do a thing.  Friends fixed the issue in less than a half an hour!  Do you think they'll refund our money?

Sorry for the rant.  I try not to do that on here, but for goodness sake!  Whatever happened to customer service?  We had heard other people say this about the Geek Squad here but we didn't know where else to turn.  From now on, Jeremy will be our first stop! :-)

Dennis took this photo of me at the lake this afternoon.  The lake is still frozen over with snow on it.  We had high hopes that the snow would mostly be gone like it is in town.  We should have known since the elevation is much higher there that it would still be there after all of the snow the past few weeks.   Last year we were camping by April 1st, so we had hoped that we could take the cover off of the trailer and put the slides out today.  Then, Chloe and I could go up during the week and take a few things up at a time.  I'm SO ready to be at the lake.  But it's been a long hard winter and it doesn't look as though it's going to give up it's grip anytime soon.  It was 56 today though and it supposed to be in the 50's all week here in Spokane so maybe by next weekend we can hike in and open the trailer.  I want to be cozy in it again.  I love our trailer.
Lots of ice!
Looking up towards the cabins by the store.  Brrrrr
I'll show you some of the knitting I've done since I last posted photos.  I do have more that I'll photograph tomorrow for my next post.

I made two more squares for my Cozy Memories Quilt.  I really enjoy making each of these nine patch squares using bits and pieces of sock yarn.
I crocheted another baby blanket with Caron Simply Soft yarn.  This makes two of these in the last few weeks.  I really like this pattern and colors for a boy.
Last week Dennis told me he would like a couple more bookmarks for his Bible so I got some materials out and came up with these.  One is a verse from Song of Solomon.  The other has our names and anniversary date.  40 years on September 1!  The man deserves a medal of sainthood for putting up with me. :-)
Because it's getting late, I'll end with this picture of Miss Piper.  This was her Kindergarten Round up photo last week.  She was so excited to spend time at the "Big Kid" school.  I think she is just the cutest little girl ever.
I do have more knitting to show you, so I'll be back soon.  Sorry for the rant earlier.  I know many of you understand computer frustrations.  Dennis and I are not techies at all.  We can use the machines if they do what they're supposed to and that's about it.  Please forgive me if I was too irritated in your opinion.

I hope you have a lovely Monday with sunshine and yarn involved. :-)

"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." Colossians 2:6-7

Blessings,
Betsy

  1. I feel your pain, my friend. I think you should ask for your money back. A week is too long to keep a new computer and not have it correct! I'm glad you have it up and running with photos too! Thank goodness for friends! It's been nice here and will not have any yarn happenings on Monday, just work. I'm taking pictures off the wall and other items that could fall from the siding work to be done later. Hope your lakeside home warms up soon! Have a blessed week, my friend!

  2. Wow...what a story. Best Buy is the reason I only use a Chromebook now. I had the same issue with my old computer. Now when this thing dies I just buy another for $150, sign in and all my stuff is right there like I never left it. Now if I can only figure out how to get Best Buy to stop charging us for virus protection on the old dead desk top. It's only been 3 years that I've been fighting that battle. They just keep renewing it and charging me.

  3. That is a great picture of you! Aww Miss P is adorable as always. Love your bookmarks..Hmmm cross stitching again? :) I will never, ever use Geek Squad again either. We had to use them way back in 2010 to try to fix our computer, they kept it for two weeks, charged us a few hundred dollars and still did not fix it. Never again, ever. If I were you I would most certainly call their manager and try to get a refund. They did not do anything, they merely took your money and did not perform a service, from a legal stand point, that is against the law. I'd fight it. I hope you are having a lovely day to day sweet friend. Blessings always. ((hugs))

  4. So sorry about your tooth problems, your diverticulitis and of course all of your computer woes. I have a wonderful guy who comes right to my house. He charges a lot but it is worth it. He has always fixed everything for me. Hope it continues to warm up and you can make it to the trailer again this weekend. Take good care of yourself Betsy.

  5. Sounds like the tech was in over his head and didn't want to admit it. I'm glad your friend was able to retrieve your old files and photos.

    Love the nine-patch blanket squares.

  6. Morning, I think You should tell them about the data and ask kindly but firmly for a refund!! It can't hurt. So glad you got a new computer, you will enjoy it! Wow its still winter at your lake house LOL
I also love that Carron yarn , just bought some more for Granny squares. Oh and the little cute bug is so sweet... What a darling name ;o)

  7. Don't worry about your rant, you did a service for others who might think of using them. I would be just as furious as you are! I lost a hard drive once with everything on it and it was devastating. Years of photos and graphic design and documents, poof, gone. Now I have an Apple wifi base unit that wirelessly backs up my computer on the hour. Piper is so cute.. what a doll. Have a super week! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  9. You have every right to rant . . . I would also talk to the store manager and if you don't get satisfaction go to their Facebook page and post about your problem. That very often gets action.

As for ranting on blogs ---- you're just keeping it real. I so appreciate that. Some blogs your would think the bloggers lived a charmed life. I'm guessing reality isn't quite so golden.

Piper IS the cutest kid in the world. What a sweetie!

  10. My sister and I just bought an IPad from Best Buy for my dad. We declined the geek squad. Fortunately, I have a few computer geeks in my little town if I run into trouble.

  11. Hi Betsy, No problem with the rant. You have reason to be upset. I hope you get your money back. I would say your Best Buy there needs a new Geek Squad. Sorry you could not open your trailer yet. I can just imagine how you feel and hope you can open it up soon. Of course, Piper is the cutest little girl except for my grandchildren and great grand child!! LOL Nancy

  12. You certainly did not do anything wrong, sweet friend. I am GLAD you let us know. We haven't had the best experiences with Best Buy, either, and they need to be exposed. It is none of my business, and I don't mean to stick my nose where it doesn't belong, but I would absolutely write the CEO of Best Buy and complain and let them know that you are making it publicly known. They don't want the bad publicity, and I feel sure you will have a successful result. You deserve to get every penny back..this is SO frustrating. Brr...your snow pictures make me cold!! LOL!! I LOVE the bookmarks...especially the one with your names and wedding date on it. Just precious!

  13. Piper has the sweetest smile- so cute, too. I am also waiting for decent weather so we can go camping. Unfortunately we received so much rain this past few weeks that all the lakes are flooded, which means no camping unless we want to go to the river, but I don't mind...I am so ready to get some sunshine! I hope your lake melts fast so you can get to your camper. Blessings! (Oh and ps- I don't trust anyone with my computer, and I think you should write that particular geek squad a nice little note, CC to their corporate.) Might save someone else some money!
