I survived!

Hello my friends. I survived my molar extraction.  Sometimes it feels like I just barely survived.  Today is by far much better than yesterday.  I had general anesthesia, so I don't remember anything, including the drive home, but apparently they didn't tell Dennis some information either.  I had  to go back for a follow-up yesterday and they had thought we had been told everything at the pre-op appointment.  Nope.  Like the fact that they had to removed bone in my jaw and the third root was wrapped around my ear canal.  They had to remove the bone and tooth in pieces, which caused more trauma to my jaw.
Nope.  We weren't told any of that and I couldn't figure out why it hurt so bad. I've had my wisdom teeth pulled years ago and never had this much pain.  BUT....hopefully it's all behind me now and things will be looking up from here on out.
Isn't this a great picture?  I spent a lot of time with ice packs this weekend.
Some knitting was done, but not a lot.  Jeremy, Alicia and the boys were here all weekend and they did all of the cooking.  I still can only eat soft foods like pudding, ice cream, scrambled eggs, etc. for another week at least.

Alicia brought me some beautiful flowers to perk me up! She's a sweetheart.

I finished a pair of socks made with Knit Picks Stroll Fingering in the "Heartfelt Tonal" colorway.
I also worked on my nine-patch mitered square.
The refrigerator arrived 1/2 hour after I got home from the dentist.  It's just a plain old refrigerator, but it keeps things cold for us and that's the important thing.
Piper was most worried that I would still put the grandkids pictures on the new one.  I thought about leaving the magnets off so it would look nicer, but then decided I like them!  We collect magnets of places we travel to and they go on the refrigerator.  The grandkids love to look at them and move them around.
And last, but not least, Mandy sent me a picture of Piper while they were waiting to go into pre-school today.  She's fixing her hair a new way!  Cute little bun pigtails.  Isn't she cute?  Talking to her  and seeing her pictures sure makes this Grandma feel better.
Take care and I'll try to be back soon.  I grocery shopped for Easter dinner this morning, but I don't think I'll get to eat much of it.  It will be fun to have people here for the holiday.  Church in the morning to celebrate the Risen Christ and then the afternoon visiting with friends.

"The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and give His life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:28

Blessings,
Betsy

  1. OUCH!!!! I had all four of my impacted wisdom teeth taken out at the same time when I was a teen so I can relate. It was a horrible experience. They had to dislocate my jaw. I looked like a black and blue chipmunk for a month. Feel better soon...

  4. I'm just catching up with your latest posts, Betsy. I'm so glad your tooth extraction is over, but what an ordeal! I hope you'll be all back to normal soon. My fridge is just like your old one (mine is a Whirlpool) and it's been no end of trouble, especially the ice maker. We've repaired it at least twice since we got the fridge in 2012, and now we're doing it again! We have a new motor for the ice maker on order and it should be here soon. I'm back to ice cube trays like the olden days and I'm starting to wish I'd never gotten an ice maker at all. My mom's late-70's Kenmore fridge with an ice maker lasted for more than 20 years without all this trouble. Feel better soon!

  8. Oh my goodness the bone root was wrapped around your ear canal? Well, I never! Having just one extraction in January was not difficult and I did not have to be put out for it. I too hung on to that ice pack. Big hugs Betsy. SO glad you are being loved and pampered a bit.
(mashed potatoes, jello, oatmeal, cottage cheese, smoothies, frozen yogurt, Milk with powdered peanut butter, tiny bits of grilled cheese, and of course m and m's. they melt in your mouth!

  11. Oh dear, dear Betsy so very sorry for you... it’s horrid tooth pain or jaw pain.. am dmajor mix up for you that’s for sure, wasn’t going to tell you before but had three traumatic extractions too as I specialise in ultra bad teeth. My first tooth op wa six years old removed six molars under general aenesthetic too it went well but others not so grand worst was dry socket infection too on top of losing a small piece of jaw, that was careless post extraction care.
However we’re good at mending eventually and the LORD sends those things as being best for us, in all things, sending soft gentle hugs and prayers.
Your fridge is same as mine, ie magnets from travels and family shots. Love it. And socks tooo so cheery and pretty.. cute Miss Piper, love that hair!

  12. Oh gosh- the surgery sounds very painful! I hope you feel better soon, but take it easy! I read last post and I am shocked at what the owners of the park are trying to do to everyone. There should be a law against that! How can they keep you from checking on your own camper? My goodness. Love the pic of your cutie pie...she is quite a darling. Have a blessed day, and feel better soonest.

  21. Mercy! I am glad you are getting better, but so sorry for the pain. As always you inspire me with your stitching [and shared Scripture!] I am not headed back to Carolyn's for awhile. Instead...big news...we plan to put the house up for sale and all of us are headed to smaller family dwellings! I am in the midst of major getting rid of stuff and through it all God is good. Blessings on you and yours dear, Betsy. :-) xx
