It’s getting colder!

I guess it is expected, but it is beginning to get colder here. Tomorrow night is supposed to be in the mid 20s. I’ve still been wearing my sundresses during the day, but I guess I’ll have to find some warmer clothes soon!

Tonight Piper has a Veterans Day program at school. Both of her Papa’s are veterans and they both get to attend. This is very exciting for us because we have never been able to attend any of our grand children’s school programs before. Kyleigh is a junior in high school and Caleb is a freshman and we have never been to any of their school functions. It’s a hazard of living so far away. Piper is excited to have both of her Papa’s there this time. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

It is beginning to feel like home here. We are still missing our friends that are like family to us and Spokane too. We miss our beautiful mountains and the sound of the rushing mountain streams. We’re hopeful that we will be able to go back and visit next spring. We are keeping our eyes open for a new to us camping trailer. Now we are wishing we had kept our smaller one that we sold before we moved. Who would have known it would be so difficult to find a camping trailer. We had no idea where we would be able to store it so we decided it would be better to sell it and just get a different one when we had things figured out here.

My dish cloth inventory was running rather low so I whipped up a few of those this week.

In my Christmas bag is a very exciting project.
Do you see the hint of pink? We are going to have a new granddaughter in the springtime!!!!  Oh, what an exciting announcement to make. I’m trying to get this finished by Thanksgiving so I can give it to the new parents when they are here.πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Mandy had a washing machine disaster this week. The pump went out on her washing machine on Tuesday. Dennis and I went over after work on Tuesday but he was not able to do anything with it except help her clean up the water. She was able to schedule a repair man for yesterday and we brought Lizzie home to spend the night with Zoey and Papa and Grandma so Mandy wouldn’t have to deal with her, work and a repairman all at the same time. Oh my goodness were these girls happy! They love each other so much!

They played and played and played until they completely collapsed on my lap yesterday. Here Zoey was giving Lizzie a kiss, see that little pink tongue?

…just before they both fell asleep in my lap. There is nothing like a lap full of sleeping puppies, unless it’s a lap full of sleeping babies! These two are the sweetest puppies. They know each other‘s names and they actually know when we are going to the others’ house. When you get within two or three blocks of the house they start whimpering and pacing! I honestly believe they still know that they are siblings.  Lizzie went to the vet this morning and she was 5 lbs. 8 oz. Zoey goes next week and I know she weighs more than that. I really want her to stop growing!

Mandy and Piper came over after Mandy finished work last night to get Lizzie and they had dinner with us of meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy and fresh green beans. It is so nice to be close enough that they can just come over for dinner when one of us has had a stressful day.

And yes, I have become one of those dog moms. Both of the puppies would be able to ride in here because there are two harnesses attached. It will make things much easier on my back. I think I’m going to love this thing. Of course Mandy thinks I am insane and is embarrassed by me.πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

On Monday we had a gorgeous day. I took Zoey for a walk around Forest Lawn cemetery. It’s only a couple of blocks from our house.  We
cleaned off Dennis’s dad’s and little sister’s graves. Also, both sets of his grandparents and then we walked up the hill to my parents graves. Their headstone is right under this tree. We sat there for quite a while and rested and it was absolutely beautiful. So quiet and peaceful. My mother always wanted to be buried under this tree and I’m so glad it hasn’t been cut down.

That’s about it. Nothing else really exciting happening. Dennis is still working every day and I find lots to keep busy with. I haven’t even begun Christmas cards yet, and I usually have them ready to mail the day after Thanksgiving. I really need to get busy on that because I need to get our new address out to people.

I hope you are all doing well and coping with all of the challenges happening in the world. I bought my Thanksgiving turkey last week. I have never paid so much for a turkey in my life. The man in the meat department said he didn’t think they would be getting anymore in though so I figured I better buy one while I could.

Blessings and love,
BetsyπŸ’œ

  2. CONGRATULATIONS! How exciting to be expecting a new grandchild!!! What a lovely pink secret, too! I am totally on board with the puppy stroller. I actually love walking my grandchildren in a stroller. I think it helps with my balance and it is easier on your back because I have the handles to keep my back straight. I keep saying I dont' know what I will do when they all outgrow the stroller.

We were all buying turkeys early too and then my neighbor visited a chain store in a neighboring city where they were priced at 39 cents a pound with a $35 purchase. Of course, how many turkeys do you need? We have a quarter beef coming in December so I don't have freezer space either. Shopping is like a game anymore! And I keep losing!

Those dish cloths are just adorable! They would make me happy to use them. You are so creative. Love the puppy sleepover party.

  3. Congrats on the granddaughter to be! How exciting.
You are going to love your doggie stroller. It not only carries a worn out doggie but it carries all your stuff. Every time I have Pup out in hers someone asks me where I got it so they can get one. I've even seen folks with cats in them strolling down at the beach.

  4. Congratulations on your future granddaughter!! Praise the Lord!! But, which/who are the parents? LOL! // We haven't eaten turkey for a good many years (I'm one of those that once I have a bad experience with a food I never want to touch it or smell it ever again), but when I've walked past the store's freezer section there have only been 1 or 2 in there and they were over $2 per pound. Wow! And the shelves at the stores are so bare anyway. We've heard folks are pretty "vocal" in their anger about that lately. I'm guessing we'll do our usual stay-home and eat whatever we have on hand. // That is a gorgeous tree! What a picture perfect spot for your parents to rest! Hugs and blessings to you, my friend!

  7. I LOVE that you got the puppy stroller! You are going to have so much fun! They are an adorable pair. I frequently end up with a lap full of cats here, as they are 21, 15, and 6lbs respectively, it's a lot to have in your lap at once!

Our weather is up and down - one day warm, one day cold, one day sun, one day rain!

Congratulations on the new addition to be!

  15. Oh, Betsy! Those puppies!!! I can't believe how close they are and how they know when they are on the way to each others' houses! That is the sweetest thing. Oh, I trust the Lord will never let them be separated. They are just so precious. I think it is just so cute how you bought them a stroller. And, the part about visiting your parents' grave and your Mom wanting to be buried under that big beautiful tree. I can only imagine the memories that washed over you as you sat there with your sweet puppy. I hope they never cut down that amazing tree. So happy you are close enough to go visit there. There aren't many places as peaceful as cemeteries. I love walking in them and just feeling that sense of stillness. God bless you in these crazy, deranged times, sweet friend.

A snuggle of puppies! I just love the photos and they are so lucky to be together frequently and of course to have such good homes. Fabulous to see those trees displaying their Autumn colours. keep well. Amanda x
