Crack!

Hello Everyone.  This will be another very short post to bring you up to date on projects I've been working on.

Another doily for the gift closet is done.
Three more pair of mittens for the first graders.
Five baby hats for the newborns at the hospital.
A crocheted baby blanket "almost" done.  Just the last corner and a border.  This will go to the crisis nursery or the hospital.
I began a pair of socks with the yarn I won. It's pure wool and I broke out in a rash so I'm not sure I'll be able to finish them.  I may be ripping them out.
My valentines hearts from Teresa's pattern are hung on the island in the kitchen.
Miss Piper at a park just outside of D.C. yesterday.  It's based on the theme of the Wizard of Oz.  She had a great time there.
This morning she was busy making Valentine's cards.  I love this little girl.
Remember my ice fall?  I finally went to the doctor this week and found out that I did indeed fracture a vertebrae in my back.  No doing anything for at least another month and light duty for several months after that.  All from a 2 second ice fall.  I can't sit at this computer very long, so I'm going to close now.  I'll be thinking of all of you my friends.  I am getting lots of crochet/knit time in!  SIlver linings and all that!  Ha!

I'm sorry I still haven't been out anywhere to find out the name of the non-pilling yarn at Hobby Lobby.  I haven't forgotten.  As soon as I can drive and walk I'll find out for you. :-)

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?" Matthew 6:25

Blessings always,
Betsy

  1. Hi Betsy, I'm so sorry that you have a fracture, but at least you know why you're in pain. You sure are getting lots accomplished, though! I adore your little hats. I'm making some for the US Military familes.. I'm on #2.. lol. I hope you heal super fast and can get back to doing the things you want to. Thinking of you.. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. Lovely finished projects. The selection of baby hats is precious.

Sorry to hear you'll have activity restrictions for a time, but I know you'll put that time to good use.

Love the "yellow brick" sidewalk - makes me want to burst out in song. 😃

  3. Oh such lovely heart gift projects. At first I thought the "crack" was because making doilies is so addictive it's like crack (because that is how I feel about them, I love making them), but then I read about your back. Oh Sweet Friend, I do hope you get to feeling better soon. I have you in my prayers. Miss Piper is so adorable. She is gonna be a crafty girl just like her GrandMother. Sending ((hugs)) and bless you always sweet friend. :)

  4. Ouch! Both Daughter and Son cracked vertebrae doing icy things at the rink. The worst part was those bone scans they had to have done. No fun there. Feel better soon-and boy, do you get a lot done!

  6. Dear Friend, I am glad that you found out why you are in such pain. Now, you will be able to rest and be careful on how you move! Your sweet girl is precious! You inspire me, I went to the store and got a crochet magazine and another book on how to crochet! Going to town really was exhausting today... Blessings, Rox

  7. You are certainly making good use of your time as you heal, Betsy! I love seeing your beautiful work but am sorry that the sock yarn irritates your skin :( Miss Piper is delightful to watch as she ventures forth on a yellow brick road and makes Valentines. Praying you will feel much better soon! xxxxx

  8. Oh, bless your heart! I was wondering about you today when I was praying for you. I was hoping you were doing better. I am so sorry you are suffering so much and do trust the Lord to heal this broken bone quickly. You have such a big, kind, caring heart, my friend. SO many are so blessed by your beautiful handiwork and creations. You will never know the extent of your outreach, but the dear Lord sees every stitch. May He just bless you abundantly. Sending you love and hugs and many hopes for a speedy recovery.

  12. You have no idea how much I wish you lived closer. I would love for you to teach me to knit and crochet. I am so sorry to hear about your back. I struggle with degenerative discs in mine and have constant discomfort, so I kind of know what you're going through. Take it easy - R and R and all that. Take Care. Ranee (MN)

  13. Was the yarn from Hobby Lobby, "I love This Yarn" acrylic, by any chance? I understand this is a good quality non-pilling yarn that is sold at Hobby Lobby. Just thought I would suggest that. Ranee (MN)

  21. I'm glad you went to check Betsy, if something is hurting as much it was, it's much better to be safe rather than sorry, I'm glad that it wasn't worse but do hope you are careful.
I am shocked a little to think you went "running out to the shops" (last post) with a broken vertebrae. I've been praying for you, not just your back but your heart etc.
Love the doiley, and knits, maybe you can get a friend to finish the socks, if their tension is like yours that is, or I wonder could you use really thin cotton gloves.. mmm might be a step too far.
    Thanks for sharing!
