It's warming up a little bit here today. 32F outside right now so hopefully we'll have a bit of snow melting today. I delivered some mittens to the school this morning and slipped on the ice outside of the school. I caught myself before I hit the ground but twisted my back in the process. It's always something isn't it?
Yesterday this pretty little calendar arrived in my mailbox. What a nice surprise. It's from Becky at GrandmaBeckyL over on my sidebar. She took all of the photos and made the calendar herself. Thank you so much Becky. My guess is that they were taken at the tulip farm near Portland, OR last summer. Am I right? I love the photos.
So colorful and here is yet another one. The truck is perfect!
Here is the colorful pile of mittens that I took to the school this morning. 40 pair. I'm happy with the progress. Most days I made 2 pair, some days 3 and a couple of days none were made because of other commitments. I'm going to continue to make them and they're going to let me know if they need more for this year or if I'm just building up the stockpile for next winter. My goal is to make at least 2 pair a week all year long so I don't hit this crunch next winter. Then, as soon as the weather starts cooling in the late fall, I can take them to the school so every 1st grader has a pair of warm mittens.
And a ta-dah! I got my hair cut yesterday! What do you think? She cut about 16 inches off! I'm still a bit in shock and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Is it too short? Too long? What do you think? I value your opinion very much. Should I grow it a little longer again? Get it cut more? Gosh, when I've had it long for such a long time it looks and feels very strange to me. I detest messing with my hair which is part of the reason I kept it long. It was easy to care for. I keep trying to push it over my shoulders and there isn't anything there!!!!
I think I'm going to put some ice on my back and see if it feels better. I hope you're all having a wonderful week, getting back to "normal". Whatever that may be for you.
"Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." This is the first and greatest commandment/" Matthew 22:37-38
Blessings always,
Betsy
Oh dear.. I'm sorry you fell and wrenched your back.. you need to be more careful! Dayle did the same thing this morning walking the dog but he didn't manage to catch himself and fell on the deck twisting his knew replacement! Goodness! I love the pile of mittens you gave the kids! You're amazing. I hope you don't have any lasting pain from your slip earlier. Take care and be safe. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteOuch. I twisted my leg last week, trying not to fall. Love that you are making all of those mittens. So kind of you.
ReplyDeleteI usually don't comment ....but I like the hair cut!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love your haircut! It's just like mine. It's so easy Peasy to care for. Right now mine is down to my shoulder so as soon as summer hits off I go to cut it short.
ReplyDeleteI love your mittens, I wish I could knit some for you, I'm so new to knitting I just don't know if I could do it.
I love your snow but I hate the cold especially wet cold! Here in Vegas it's really unusual for it to be wet cold. Tho it is raining here right now. Lol and cold!
Ok I'm off be blessed my friend!
I think your haircut looks very chic! I love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd those mittens...my gosh you are fast!!! I just completed my first color work hat. So fun. Learned a lot!
Hope your back feels better.
XO Kris
Your hair cut looks nice on you!! I've thought about cutting a few inches off mine. May wait til spring. Yes thr tulip field is where you think it is. I wrote info on the back as well. Glad u like the calendar. Sorry to hear about your fall. That's alot if mittens. Good job!! Hope it isn't too painful very long. Hugs and blessings my friend.
ReplyDeleteLovely calendar and lovely haircut! I like it! I'd try it myself but I wear mine in a bun as I can't stand hair in my face at all. I'm a gardener and I think it stems from always having my head down...lol! I wear my hair the same way my Mother and Grandmother did and it is because I am not a talented hair person. I like it because neither sleet nor rain nor snow bothers it or humidity either! Ha! Ha!
ReplyDeleteLove all your mittens. What a beautiful gesture for those kids. What pattern do you use? Are there different sizes?
Get yourself some YakTracs or something similar. I never go out in snow or ice without them. They slip over your shoes and have spikes in the bottom so you never slip and fall. They are hard to get on though so I will put them on some shoe boots that I can just slip on and off and leave them on the boots. I hope you feel better soon.
I love the haircut, it really suits you. You are doing a great job with the mittens. Hope there is no lasting problems from your fall. Take care.
ReplyDeleteYour haircut is lovely, Betsy. I think it's a very flattering look for you. I'm so impressed with your pile of mittens. You are doing such a wonderful thing for those little ones. I hope you're having a good week so far. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI love your new haircut. I think it makes you look younger.
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic. Chin length is so flattering!
ReplyDeleteMitten donations......WONDERFUL YOU

Ouch! I'm sorry you further aggravated your back...especially when you were in the process of delivering the grand pile of mittens. For 30+ years I wore my hair at the length you just had yours cut to and I enjoyed the cut, but now I love having my hair long enough to have a short ponytail. It will be fun to see what you decide to do after you get used to the feel of the new length :) xx
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hope your back gets to feeling better soon. :) Love the new hair do. It looks great on you. :) The mittens are so cute. I know they will be well loved. Blessings to you always sweet friend. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you look FANTASTIC!!!! It is the perfect length, it looks wonderful. I know it is a big change and I am sure it was hard to do but it looks great.
ReplyDeleteYou are a Mitten Angel my friend,
Meredith
Thank you for stopping by today with your encouragement.
ReplyDeleteI love your hair. I say it is a wonderful change. I cut mine off last year and had it short for an entire year. I have grown it to shoulder length but think I will keep it short a while longer.
Yikes! Be careful out there Becky. A wrenched back is no fun at all. I always put heat on my aches and pains and that is much more comforting than ice. Ironic that you almost fall on ice and then you are putting ice on your back. Ha! :) The mittens are so lovely and such a kind gesture on your part. I'm trying to make baby hats and blankets for the pediatric ward where I volunteer but it is slow going. Your hair is just the right length. You can always grow it back if this doesn't work for you but I would think this is just as easy to maintain. I got mine cut, too, but am still able to put it in a ponytail so I'm good with it. Take care! Tammy
