A Finish

Good Morning! It's a beautiful, pure blue sky and sunshine day here in the midwest. It's supposed to be 88F, so pretty warm for April but it will cool off again by Thursday.

Yesterday was a morning of doctor appointments and then lunch at Cheddar's. Dennis had blood work for another appointment scheduled for next Monday. I had four spots removed at the dermatologist and am now waiting for the biopsies which I'm sure will be fine.

I finally finished the stitching on the birth announcement for Baby W. It took longer than I expected it to, but I do like the way it turned out. I still have to press it and frame it. I plan to go to Hobby Lobby today or tomorrow to find a frame. For privacy reasons I have blocked out the personalization part. All in all, I'm glad it's finished and I can get it ready to mail off to London.

Dennis did a small project last week here at the condo. We have been trying to decide what to do with this fireplace since we moved in. Neither of us liked the dark brown paint. Other condo owners have tiled theirs from floor to ceiling, others put granite on the entire face. We didn't really care for any of them and the expense was crazy. Finally we decided to paint it with paint we already have and see what we think. That could be easily changed if we didn't like it.

This is the result. We both love it. It brightens up that corner of the room a lot. It's hard to believe that just a little bit of paint made this much difference. What do you think? It was a lot less expensive than refacing the surface.

I have started and ripped out several crochet projects. I just couldn't seem to settle on anything. Now I'm making simple ten inch granny squares that will eventually become a prayer shawl for the hospital. I do love this purple color. Of course, I love anything purple. :-) I feel like I'm unsettled for some reason and I don't have a driving desire to make anything in particular. Have any of you ever felt like that?

The world is still in turmoil but I know that God is ultimately in control. Things will happen as He allows and as the timeline in the Bible lays out. I know that He loves me and wants what is good for me. He wants the best for you too. The world is broken and so are the people in it. But His love can overcome it all. I do hope you know Him too.

I'll be back soon. I'm enjoying mornings on the balcony. Listening to the birds and reading my Bible. Spring is such a wonderful time. The earth is coming back to life and we get to witness it it all.

Blessings and love,

Betsy

There Shall Be Showers Of Blessings

Text: Daniel White based on Ezekiel 34:26

Music: James McGranahan

1
There shall be showers of blessing:
  This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
  Sent from the Savior above.

Showers of blessing,
  Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
    But for the showers we plead.
2
There shall be showers of blessing—
  Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
  Sound of abundance of rain.
3
There shall be showers of blessing;
  Send them upon us, O Lord!
Grant to us now a refreshing;
  Come, and now honor Thy Word.
4
There shall be showers of blessing;
  O that today they might fall,
Now as to God we’re confessing,
  Now as on Jesus we call!

5
There shall be showers of blessing,
  If we but trust and obey;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
  If we let God have His way.

  1. The cross stitch is so cute and will make a pretty picture for Baby. As for the fireplace, WoW, what a difference, it looks so much brighter now. I haven't thought of myself as being unsettled, maybe I am because I'm exactly where you're at these days. I'm looking for something new but nothing sounds good. Believe it or not, one of the things I've been thinking about is making granny squares!!! Hope you're having a lovely day.

  2. I love your birth sampler. Years ago I tucked one away for the granddaughter I thought I might have one day but that's not happening. It's sheep themed so one day I might just stitch it just for me.

  3. The Princess Announcement is just precious! Really cute and I know the little family will love it.
    Wow - the fireplace makeover! It looks terrific! You are interior decorators! It does brighten up that corner and really looks high end. I'm glad you took the chance. And the price was right, too!

  4. "Showers of Blessing" is one of my favorite old hymns, and oh! How we need those showers of blessing...both the physical rain kind of showers as well as the showers of revival in our land. Amen. I love love love the cross stitch you did for your sweet new grand baby! I guess she's already been born? I didn't know that!!! Congratulations! When do you get to go meet her? I am sure you are chomping at the bit to see her and hold her before she gets TOO big! And yes, I love what you did to the fireplace. That looks very nice and it does brighten up that space very nicely. I love that it has the "empty tomb" on top! Just a reminder to us that "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow...because He lives...all fear is gone...because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living, just because He lives!" Amen!! Oh, I pray the skin spots are all benign. I'm sure they will be, but a little extra prayer can't hurt! I am amazed that you are having 88 degree temps! We will only reach 82 today, and we started out at 52! But it is SO dry and smoke in the air all around. Thankfully the fires are still far from us, but close enough to smell.
    The purple granny squares will make a wonderful prayer shawl for some dear person. Thank you for your kindness to others. That is a real blessing!!!
