I saw the photo below on Facebook and I fell in love with it. I’ve always wanted to live in a log cabin and this room just looks so cozy and comfortable. Not to mention I love snowman. ☃️
I did start crocheting a baby blanket on Christmas Eve for a young couple in our church who are expecting a baby girl soon. I almost have it finished.
I think a lot of of you may feel the same way I do with this meme. I spent several hours on Christmas Eve morning while Dennis was volunteering at the mission, to tidy my yarn wall. I rolled a lot of half skeins of yarn into balls and put them into baskets and it looks much neater. Of course, now I’ve made room for more full skeins of yarn so I may need to do some shopping! π€£ππ€£
That’s about it. I just took Zoey outside and for the third straight day we have cloudy skies and fog. I’m sure Santa had to use Rudolph on Christmas Eve just to find his way around here. Dennis has gone to the grocery store and then I imagine we’ll go see Mom. A very quiet day. Miss Piper was supposed to come over and spend the day today and overnight, but Mandy isn’t feeling well and Piper think she’s getting it too. Hopefully next week before she goes back to school, she can spend a few days with us.
I hope you’re able to take the time to relax and enjoy the slow days between Christmas and New Year’s.
Blessings and love,
Blessings and love,
Betsy
Tell me the story of Jesus
Tell me the story of Jesus
by Fanny J. Crosby
- Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word;
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.
Tell how the angels in chorus,
Sang as they welcomed His birth,
“Glory to God in the highest!
Peace and good tidings to earth.”- Refrain:
Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word;
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.
- Refrain:
- Fasting alone in the desert,
Tell of the days that are past,
How for our sins He was tempted,
Yet was triumphant at last.
Tell of the years of His labor,
Tell of the sorrow He bore;
He was despised and afflicted,
Homeless, rejected and poor. - Tell of the cross where they nailed Him,
Writhing in anguish and pain;
Tell of the grave where they laid Him,
Tell how He liveth again.
Love in that story so tender,
Clearer than ever I see;
Stay, let me weep while you whisper,
“Love paid the ransom for me.” - Tell how He’s gone back to heaven,
Up to the right hand of God:
How He is there interceding
While on this earth we must trod.
Tell of the sweet Holy Spirit
He has poured out from above;
Tell how He’s coming in glory
For all the saints of His love.
Merry Christmas! I hope Piper and family are up to par soon so she can visit. I have been doing almost nothing and it has been a great two days. I did pop to the post office with a surprise for you - something to do on these dismal days.
ReplyDeleteYES!!!!! I was just commenting on Val's blog that the day after Christmas is so terribly dismal. After all those weeks of preparation it's just wrong to have it come to such an abrupt finish. Everybody's back to work. Life goes on but it just doesn't feel right.
ReplyDeleteI love the quiet days:) Hope Piper doesn't get real sick. I like that room also except those wall would be hard to dust!
ReplyDeleteA quiet day this time of year is never a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteToday was our traditional clear-out day. We do a deep clean of all rooms, closets, change over the decor from Santa to "winter" and just basically get ready for a clean new year. It always feels so good at the end of the day to sit back and enjoy it all.
Merry Christmas! Sounds like you had a lovely one!
ReplyDeleteWe had a very lazy boxing day. It's back to work tomorrow, but then it's the weekend. I hate it when Christmas is in the middle of the week like this - totally messes me up!
Yes, today was quiet and we just kind of put things back in order and tried to rest. I've been going at it like a crazy woman the past few weeks and my body said it's time to rest and relax! I'm getting there little by little. That picture that you saw on FB and posted of the log cabin bedroom....have you been reading my mind? I LOVE that, and always wanted to live in a log cabin, and I've seen that picture too and LOVE it! I knew we were kindred spirits! LOL. OH< I do hope Piper doesn't get sick and I'm sorry Mandy already is. Our dil Rose is sick too and I'm praying no one else gets it. Oh, I love the song "Tell Me the Story of Jesus", and I'm so glad you posted it. I guess I never stopped to think about how it does tell the story of Jesus from the beginning to the end and beyond! Beautiful song. Love it. Happy New Year my friend.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope Mandy and Piper feel better soon. Your Christmas was quiet; ours quite the opposite. Our tradition involves 2 days of Christmas. On the 25th we have the big meal together and on the 26th we get together for appetizers and games and more visiting. That was today and I'll admit I'm worn out by the noise and busyness. The main thing is everyone had fun and everyone got along. What more could a mother want? Tomorrow life will return to normal again but I leave all the decor out well into January! GM
ReplyDeleteDearest Betsy, I might not comment much but I do read all your post I’m just being very lazy here having a quiet lazy day but am supposed to be tidying a few things away might start shortly. Just want to let you know I’m praying for you and your dear ones each day. It’s a lovely summers day here. God be with you and pray you’re able to catch up with Piper and she and Mandy are okay.
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas and 2025, one belatedly and one early!

Really very beautiful log cabin.
ReplyDeleteToday will also be a cleaning day for me to prepare for the New Year.
I hope the New Year brings you lots of Love, Health, Peace and Happiness!
Be well and have a good time!π§‘⛄π²π
I have to store all of my yarn by type in tote bins. I can't leave it out uncovered due to dust and what not. I have gone thru much of it, but need more ideas to use some threads and cotton yarn. I may have a few ideas, and hope to piddle around on the internet one day for patterns. I just bought blue and white yarn to make another one of those baby blankets. I do think they turn out so nicely. I too, saw that photo on fb and love it!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, we had a good Christmas π day with the 3 of us. Opened our gifts late morning. Justin brought cookies that need to be baked when was here on 12/24 for lunch. They were frozen and are still in freezer til 2025. Phil's feeling better from thankfully. My yarn is in a couple bags in living room. Happy new year π to to you and family.
ReplyDeleteAS you organize your yarn wall, I organize my "Journal Wall". I've been journaling for more years that I can remember and I have a book shelf full of them. Someday when I'm gone...and the children are sifting through our stuff, I hope the journals will be a sourse of encouragement and they will fine that I have been faithful to the Lord.
ReplyDeleteYour handiwork is so amazing and you do it with such love. That's a gift!! And what a treasure to those who get the work of your fingers and heart.
Sending Love and Hugs for a wonderful New Year.
It sounds like you had a peaceful and meaningful Christmas day! I love the idea of Boxing Day extending the celebration. The cozy log cabin room and your crochet project for the baby girl are both so heartwarming. And yes, tidying up your yarn wall is definitely a perfect excuse for some more shopping! I invite you to read my new blog post: https://www.melodyjacob.com/2024/12/the-dark-side-of-tipping-culture-when-entitlement-turns-deadly.html.
ReplyDeleteLove the quiet and peace.

What a great post! I love the photo of the cozy cabin. Nice work on the new baby blanket!
ReplyDeleteWe live in England so we have Boxing Day - the day when traditionally one gave (some of us do still give) money gifts to those who worked hard all year providing their not brilliantly paid services. Such as the Postman, the Refuse Collectors, the Milkman who delivers milk each morning, and so on. It is one of my very favourite days of the year to slowly unwind rather than come down with a bump. As per tradition we also eat cold turkey (chicken for us), pigs in blankets and bubble and squeak for dinner. Bubble and squeak uses up all the leftover vegetables and is delicious! I just cooked a gammon (ham) in Coca Cola in the slow cooker earlier today - our darling little Havanese is dancing on his hind legs in anticipation. Love, Di xx
ReplyDeleteGood to catch up a bit. I had all my family here including my 16 month old grandson and 83 year old father. It was a slightly chaotic wonderful day. Jesus be blessed.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year!

I love that cabin too! Your baby blanket is precious. Did you receive my card with the little tiny quilt I made you for your pocket? Happy New Year!
