I just returned home from our ladies Bible study. I’m doing the BSF study, (Bible Study Fellowship parentheses), again this year. We are studying the book of Revelation and my goodness, I feel like we’re living in those days right now.
I have now begun a cardigan for her that is taking a long, long time. The needles are sized two and three and it’s sport weight yarn. I have another 10 cm to go on the body before doing the ribbing and then I’ll need to knit the sleeves. I think this will be nice for her to wear with her school uniform. The pattern is by drops design and it is the Little Bee Cardigan, which is free online. There are directions to embroider a bee onto the yolk of the sweater, but I won’t be doing that.
Photo of the front page of the pattern. Just look at that baby’s face! 😂 I wouldn’t want to get in an argument with this little one. It looks like they have a mind of their own!
And because I don’t have much other news, here’s a blast from the past! That’s Kyleigh on the left, me, Piper and Caleb. Kyleigh is now in her second year of college in Bozeman, Montana. You all know Piper, and Caleb is a senior in high school. Where does the time go? How I would love to get these days back. And being that skinny again would be nice too!
I hope the week is going well for all of you. I think our summer like, fall weather is finally gone. I guess it couldn’t last forever could it? I was trying to find a 20+ pound turkey for Thanksgiving, and after visiting several stores I was having no luck. My sister was able to find one that was 22 pounds so I asked her to pick it up for me. I’ve gradually been buying the fixings for Thanksgiving dinner that could be bought in advance. These prices are enough to strangle anyone aren’t they?
I did finish Baby J’s sweater that she requested. I don’t think it turned out too bad. Although the photo shows the colors a bit washed out, they are really pink, lavender and gray. That’s what she wanted and that’s what she got! It was a fun knit using JoAnn’s big twist yarn. It’s a very soft yarn that washes and dries very well which I think is important for a toddler. The pattern is the wonderful wallaby pattern.

I cannot wait to see our kids in about two weeks. We’re planning a trip to the Kansas/Nebraska state line to visit where most of my family on my Dad’s side is buried. Alex is very much into the genealogy and he’s asked us to go visit the cemetery that is right on the state line. I’m hoping for good weather and no snow because it’s out in the middle of the open plain where the winds will truly get you. We also would like to go to the zoo while they’re here. That’s become a family tradition.
Take care everyone and remember how much Jesus loves all of us. He bled and died to buy our pardon so we can someday live in Heaven with Him.
Blessings and love,

I’ve Got A Mansion
I'm satisfied with just a cottage below
A little silver and a little gold
But in that city where the ransomed will shine
I want a gold one that's silver lined
I've got a mansion just over the hilltop
In that bright land where we'll never grow old
And some day yonder we will never more wander
But walk on streets that are purest gold
Don't think me poor or deserted or lonely
I'm not discouraged I'm heaven bound
I'm but a pilgrim in search of the city
I want a mansion, a harp and a crown
I've got a mansion just over the hilltopIn that bright land where we'll never grow oldAnd some day yonder we will never more wanderBut walk on streets that are purest gold
The hoodie is adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice hoodie sweater baby J will love it! I hope you have good weather and no snow for your family visit! Cute picture of you and your grands!! Yes we would all like to be thin again:)
ReplyDeleteThat’s going to be one well dressed baby!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of you with your sweet grandchildren so long ago! Really precious memories, I am certain! And that little sweater for Baby J is adorable! And the other one will be too, I am sure! I've got a mansion is one of my favorite songs! I look forward to the day that we will "never more wander, but walk on streets that are purest gold". Amen!! I think it may be sooner than many think! Yes, I am ready, and I pray everyone else is ready too! Jesus is the only way to get there...so I pray for so many who still do not know Him. Oh, I hope you have a nice trip to visit with family and good weather too. Take care and enjoy your Thanksgiving time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious photo with your grandchildren! They just grow up too fast, don't they? And the sweaters are just lovely. You are wrapping them in hugs! I am sure you are counting the minutes until Baby J visits! That is quite the face on the baby on the wrapper!
ReplyDeleteGreat little sweaters you're knitting. Hope you have a great time with your family and a wonderful Thanksgiving too. Take good care.
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, Your knitting is amazing! I've just finished the knitting part of a little back zip cardigan for my 1 yo grandson. My son offered to buy our turkey this year. He couldn't find a large one, so he bought two small ones. My husband just bartered two pecan pies for a smoked turkey from one of his clients. Add two pies to my list and remove one turkey!
ReplyDeleteWe'll save the extra for Christmas. My other son's already planning to bring a ham for that celebration. I might just bake myself out of a job!
Hugs,
Laura
So glad you're saved! I just prayed for your unsaved loved ones.
Your knitting projects really inspire me, and I am in awe at your ability to make such beautiful items. Have fun on your trip.
ReplyDeleteThe cost of groceries is absolutely horrible, by God's grace we're not hungry. You are so talented, the sweater looks better than store bought. "I've got a mansion just over the hilltop

ReplyDeleteAmen.

Hi Betsy! I'm slowly getting around to visiting blogs. The cardigan and baby sweater are very pretty. Those are my favorite colors. I'm going to be maybe crocheting some either dishcloths or pot holders for my small group ladies Bible study. I have a ton of 100% cotton yarn so I'm wanting to use it up. Take care my friend.
ReplyDeleteSweaters seem to fly off of your needles! Great job
ReplyDeleteBetsy, you make the most beautiful little sweaters I have ever seen. You are so talented. I love the older picture of you and the babies. Time really flies, doesn't it! Look at little Piper! You are beautiful! All your grandchildren are pretty. The words in the hymn are so touching.

DeleteHow cute is that sweet pink/lavender and gray sweater. You do awesome work.
ReplyDeleteI love that picture from the past of you and the three grands. Sometimes small children change looks as they get older but Piper still looks the same!! Cute as a button. GM
Wouldn't life be great if you could look at a picture and go back to that moment in time for a few minutes. I guess that is what the photo does, but in a melancholy way.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw your title I immediately heard that Carpenters song in my head.
Hello! So sorry I have been missing here. I am happy to catch up with you, my friend. Your knitting is amazing, something I can only appreciate and envy. I have no skill in that art! And of course, the beautiful photo from the past. Hugs and prayers for a cozy Sunday and week ahead.

Love these lines.
Those sweaters are so cute! You're really talented. My mom used to knit and crochet but it's something I just never learned to do. "Some day yonder we will never more wander..." such a great poem. To think that one day we'll be face-to-face with our God and King. Makes me emotional just thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteThat hoody baby sweater is so lovely, I like everything about it and it's going to be so warm. No cold sneaking in around that baby's neck :) Great photo, too . . . my how time flies Piper was so tiny.
ReplyDeleteOh, I got up to snow this morning, it's coming down softy and gently, but I hear that Spokane is in for a storm.
Happy Thanksgiving and stay warm.
Thanksgiving trip to visit family and trace your genealogy—that’ll be a meaningful experience for everyone. And yes, those Thanksgiving prices are definitely eye-opening!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your family time, and I’ll be praying for good weather for your trip to the state line. Take care and keep remembering how much we’re loved by Jesus!
