Good Morning!

Good morning to you all! Since this is my first time posting since the Fourth of July celebrations here in the U. S., I would like to say that I hope you all had a wonderful day.  We sure did. The lake was buzzing! First there was a boat parade at 1:00, followed by a barbecue hosted by the resort for the residents. They supplied hamburgers, hotdogs and ice cream and we supplied the side dishes. There were games, music and dancing. That evening there were fireworks and another organized fireworks display on the fifth. In contrast to a lot of areas where it was very hot and humid, we were wrapped in blankets as we watched the fireworks!

Here is the boat parade getting organized and ready to motor down the length of the lake. I wish I could have zoomed in more. Some of these boats were decorated beautifully. There is a prize every year to the most patriotic boat.

It was the largest crowd ever at the picnic. There were so many salads and wonderful dishes here. It was impossible to try everything I wanted to taste...

Back at our campsite we had a beautiful fire and made Smore‘s before the fireworks started. At this time of year it doesn’t get dark until about 10 PM so the evenings last a long time.  Contrast that to the middle of December when it’s dark at 3 PM. That’s what happens when you live so far north.

I have been busy making baby hats for the hospital.

There was also a special new baby born in London on Sunday. I have started to crochet a blanket for him. Someday, I may even have a chance to meet him.

I have been spending a lot of time at the trailer at the lake. I came home yesterday to do laundry and buy groceries and I’m going back out this morning. My plan isn’t to come home again except for church until next Tuesday, when I have a doctors appointment. Have I ever mentioned how much I love summertime at the lake? I do! Especially the weekdays that are so quiet.

I’m always surprised when I meet new people who are spending their vacations at the little lake that I seem to take for granted. On Monday I met a sweet young couple and their two little boys who were out riding bicycles. They are from northern Canada and they come to Loon Lake every year for their vacation. How blessed I am to live in such a beautiful place that people make it their destination for their coveted time off every year.

One family has been meeting here for a week every summer for the past 53 years! They live all across Canada and choose our little lake to meet at every year.

I hope you are all enjoying summer time, and if you’re down under winter!

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”  Psalm 51:10

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23

Love and Blessings,
Betsy

  2. I be that boat parade was fun! Wow, you have sure knit a lot of little hats - so pretty and cute. I'll bet they are greatly appreciated. Hard to believe you were wrapped in blankets on the 4th of July...it was so hot and humid here! Hoping your back continues to feel better. So glad you are able to be at the lake!

  3. I live in Eugene, Oregon, and summers tend to be pleasant down here. Of course, once the solstice is passed, I know that another long, drizzly winter is on the way.

  4. The looks so lovely. What fun that you all get together there, too. Our temps are in the 90's with the heat index of 100plus....so the idea of using a blanket on the 4th of July sounds awesome to me. Wishing you a most lovely day sweet friend....have fun at the lake! :) Blessings always

  5. You are living the life I dream of! Chilling at a lake all summer sounds divine. I sure hope when I retire and have more knitting time I will feel less selfish and knit more for charity. Your wee bebe hats are so sweet.

  7. I'm so pleased for you that you have a full-time home away from home in such a beautiful place. I would love to live on a body of water, the sea, lake or river. Our little pond will have to suffice. :-) You are amazing how many little hats you've made. You're such a generous person. I love the yarn with the pastel rainbow colors. I'm off to swim soon.. then home as our son and his family are coming over to work on the boat and get it ready for a fishing trip off-shore in the Pacific Ocean on Sunday. Dayle is going.. but not me! I'm staying home to take care of Mocha and wait to hear if they catch a salmon. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  13. What a joy to read your blog today. The evenings here don't get dark until after 10 either, it is only dark for a few hours at this time of year. Your home at the lake is how I feel when I am out and about my little Island, happy and content. The baby hats are such thoughtful gifts of love for those new babies. The blanket a real delight, made with love. Hope you and Dennis are well.

  14. I saw that too about the Bay. The town is full of tourists now which makes me crazy but it really is a wonderful place to be-in the winter. Lol.

  15. Glad you had a good 4th of July. I met a man today at hardware store with Loon lake sweatshirt on. He likes to fish there. He lives close to Idaho, Colville? Praying your back feels better. Enjoy your days at the lake. Its warm here 78 degrees. Its about time for warmer days so flowers will bloom better. Hugs my dear friend. 💜

  16. Yes our winter is nothing in yours Betsy, it rarely gets under freezing where I live so not cold compared to you but quite cold enough for me.
Loved hearing re camping activities at the lake, you do have fun, and good to chill with some knitting done too. I’m guessing that’s London somewhere nearby not London UK, you’re visiting?
Thanks for being a blessing and sharing, praying for you dear Betsy.Shaz in Oz.x

  19. Your lake looks so serene and beautiful... I bet it's comforting to be in that place where you can let your mind and body take in God's peace and tranquility. Our summer in Kansas has done it's usual – we heading into dangerous heat days... going to jump from the mid- and upper-90s (with "feels like" temps of 100s) into a mid-week change into the 100s with "feels like" temps of 110+. Air-conditioning is my friend lol. Have a blessed week, Betsy! Hugs! ♥

  20. Enjoyed your post today Betsy! Such a lovely location you are able to enjoy❤️ I love your ministry of baby hats! It's always neat to hear of others using their God-given talents to bless others. Thank you for your Bible verses today. I copied the one from Proverbs into my phone to remind me of what I need to do daily 😉
    Peace,
    Aimee
