Get Ready!

Happy Tuesday to you, my friends out there in blogland!  I am feeling SO MUCH better!  Thank you for all of your nice comments and thoughts for me.  It was just a little stomach bug, but it didn't want to go away.  It was Sunday afternoon before I felt like myself again.  Our Bible study group provided the hospitality lunch to the visitors after church and then Hubby and I decided to head for the lake for awhile.  A quick stop at home to get Chloe and off we went.  We put the slides out-and our living space expanded exponentially!  We took the tarp off of the stairs that Hubby built me last year and put the carpet runners out.  I'm ready to move in.  :-)

But while I was sitting around last week I was being productive, not too lazy.

Five baby hats....
plus two baby hats...
plus a baby sweater, hat and bootie set...
plus one doily...

plus a second doily.
I did get a lot done and that helps me feel the time wasn't totally wasted.

Hubby bought me this sweet African Violet last week.  About 25 years ago, I bought one that looked just like this for my wonderful Mom for Mothers Day.  She died a year later and my Dad gave it to me so he wouldn't kill it.  That plant finally died about two years ago and I've missed it ever since.  Hubby knew it and so he bought me one that looked just like it.
For some reason, when I see this my Mom doesn't seem so far away.  29 years old is way too young to lose your Mom and I still miss her every day.
On a brighter note, I'm packing, packing, packing for the lake.  Getting food together.  Garhering books and yarn and towels. We already put fresh sheets on the bed on Sunday.  I'm hoping to stay out there this weekend.  Yeah!  Summer is coming soon!
Cereal, paper towels, shampoo, pictures.  A little of this and a little of that.
It's been a long, long winter.  I'm so ready for spring and summer.  I know it will be awhile before we're done with the spring rains and it's actually warm here, but we have a nice furnace in the trailer and there is no sound sweeter than rain drops on the roof, so I plan on spending lots of time there now that the snow is (hopefully) gone.

I hope you are all having as wonderful a day as I am.  The sun is shining. I get to see one of my sons and two of my grandchildren next weekend.  I'll get to face time with Miss Piper this afternoon.  I love my Hubby and he loves me.  Best of all God loves me.  Life is good.

Have a lovely afternoon my friends.

Blessings,
Betsy

  3. You got A LOT accomplished! Love the doilies especially. I so wish I was going with you (at least for a day or two) to sit at the lake and crochet. Sounds great to me. Thanks for the knitting info. I've already printed out the pattern you recommended. Sorry you were sick. I know the feeling! And glad you are feeling better. I haven't tried keeping an African Violet alive in at least 30 years. Maybe I could do it now. Ha-ha. I'm a little confused on that dishcloth pattern already. It lists both needles and circular needles. Which one is it? Sheesh! I should probably just dive in and figure it out myself. I know I'm making harder than it needs to be.

  5. The African violets are lovely! They're my favorite houseplant. Unfortunately my four plants got some sort of disease last year and I lost them all.

Those baby hats are adorable! You're so talented.

My mother grew African Violets too... I love them --but have never had good luck with them. They need a special window!!!! ha

Bet you are looking forward to the lake. It's been a hard winter for most of us this year. I'm so glad that it's April...

  9. You've been crocheting up a storm, looks like! Fun! I just made reservations for Hood River...going there in a few weeks. Can't wait. We love it there. Stopping for lunch at Multnomah Falls and Teresa is going to be volunteering the same day so will finally meet up with her. Have a good weekend. Am excited that our son and family will be here for Easter. Not loved on my grands for a few months, what with weather and being sick, I need it! My mom had African Violets as well. Her favorites were purple and pink. She has one in the nursing home right now. I've not had one for awhile. I usually drown it or it dies on me. Take care!Glad you are feeling better!

  10. My! Haven't you been busy? I can't believe how much you have achieved and it is so lovely. I love the colours in the baby jacket set. It is awful to lose your Mum so young. My nieces were teenagers when my sister died and it is so sad that they have to grow up without her. Big hugs to you and I am glad that the flowers make you feel closer to yours. Have a great time at the lake xxx

  11. Glad you got rid of whatever that bug was you had. If all that is what you do when you are being lazy, I can't imagine how much you can do at other times. I'm so happy for you that you get to get back out to the lake. I always loved camping myself and we had a big camper we had at a campground in the mountains. It was so nice up there in the summer, just the right temperature. But things happen and we had to sell the camper. I still miss it at times but I don't think I could handle it now. Have a wonderful time this weekend.

    Hugs,
    Sharon
