It's a beautiful day! Stunning! Gorgeous! Unbelievable for the middle of November. It's 66F and pure blue sky. No jackets needed. The only thing not fun about today was starting it with a mammogram early this morning. :-)
I finished another pair of socks into the Christmas basket. One more to go. These are Knit Picks Felici in the "Silent Film" color way. Plain vanilla pattern of course. I think it shows off the Felici stripes best.
Now on the needles are another pair of Felici in "Sanderson" named after the sisters in the Halloween movie. Another plain vanilla pair of socks. I'm boring, I know.
A blast from the past photo that I found on my phone from when our girls, Lizzie and Zoey were puppies. Aren't they just the cutest little things? They still are and we love them so much.
As I said in the beginning, I had my mammogram and the results already arrived online. All is fine for another year. I just want it known that I do NOT enjoy that test at all. Especially since I got my pacemaker. It's very, very painful where the pacemaker is squeezed. It was not pleasant before but now is another whole level of pain.
Tonight is our annual condo meeting and tomorrow Dennis and a few other guys from here are going to repair the fence around the property to try to save several thousand dollars. Our HOA fees are going up around $100 a month next year anyway simply because of insurance. We have had no claims in over 10 years, but because of all of the natural disasters around the country, our premium is going up too. So some of the guys said, we can fix the fence to save everyone some money. He likes keeping busy too. :-)
Otherwise not a lot has been happening. I'm still trying to get things done before we leave. I'm done with Christmas cards and they're ready to go into the mail after Thanksgiving. I need to wrap gifts for the people here and finish the last pair of socks for a gift. I think I'm on track for being done but who really knows?
Take care my dear friends and enjoy your day. Hopefully it's as pretty as it is here.
Blessings and love,
Betsy

The Mister insists on climbing up on our roof and cleaning out the gutters all the time. Since his knee and hip replacement this is an insane idea. One false move could be a real disaster. I even found him a company that will come and do it for us for a reasonable fee but no......I'm thinking I need to take out a bigger life insurance policy on him...lol.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that Dennis is healthy enough to help others that need it and I am sure they appreciate his help too! Owwie..Amanda a double...I hope the results are good for her...I know it is a hard surgery. Nice weather here today:) Glad you got the mammo done...it is an archaic practice...you would think they could come up with something less painful:)
ReplyDeleteWow! What a guy, indeed!! I'm sure your friend really appreciated the men cleaning out the gutters for her! What a job that is! Our house is just one story, but it is still a big job and we have our son do it for us, which reminds me, it needs to be done because so many oak leaves are falling in them. And I love the socks you are making! I am sure your people will all appreciate them greatly!! You sound like you are very organized and ready already...cards written, socks made, other stuff done...amazing! I haven't even hardly thought about it yet. Well, I thought about it and decided I will think more later. I am a terrible procrastinator when it comes to Christmas shopping/gifts. If I had a talent like you I might do something more thoughtful for gifts. You are blessed to have such talent! BTW, I am enjoying my sweater these days! It's so comforting! Literally. Thank you. You are a blessing. Have a wonderful rest of your week. (((HUGS))) Oh, that mammo test does sound painful with the pacemaker...I can only imagine...the normal one is bad enough. UGH! So happy for you it is normal! Whew!!!! Praise the Lord!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my - I have to go inside whenever Dave does stuff like that. I just can't handle it!
ReplyDeleteI have some Silent Film tucked away to make Dave socks. And of course, I used Sanderson to make socks for Mom and me. And I still have two balls left for another pair.
Your socks are just gorgeous and look so warm, too! And look at those babies.
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed with a husband like Dennis and so is your community and your church. He is so generous to volunteer his time with your food bank and feeding your community. The photo on the roof is terrifying! But I would expect him to do no less for the lady who needed her gutters done. As well as volunteering for the fence project. I am so glad he is able to give so much of his time and experience to help others. And that he has it in his soul to do so. And that he has the support of his wonderful and caring wife.
Dennis sure is a busy man helping wherever he is needed. Good for him. You're always finding something to do too. I like all the different socks you knit.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you have to have such painful mammograms. At least its done for a year.
Well, that's a wonderful thing to hear that folks still gather to help folks. My husband and I were just talking about that, as we can never get anyone to help when we need it, and we were discussing that family/friends just don't help others around this area anymore. Love the socks.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite things to read is when a wife or husband are tenderly and sweetly talking about their husband or wife. It warms my heart :) I'm happy to see you back on line, you were missed. I know that your warm knitted socks are treasured to those fortunate to receive them. You're a sweetie pie!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, yay for your mammogram to be over and done with and for good results! That is always a good feeling. You and your husband bless so many others with your acts of service. My mom would say, " You are good people." And I agree! Your socks are beautiful too! Have a cozy weekend, and hugs from Maryland, my dear friend!
ReplyDeleteDearest Betsy thank you for your comment on my recent blog post. You should get a breast ultrasound not mammogram that's what they do in Australia for people with difficulties like yours and over 70 they don't even recommend that here. Its actually a dangerous practice in your situation.
ReplyDeleteTalking of dangerous, looking at Dennis gave me the heebies. I don't do heights. I mailed your card yesterday, I'm praying it gets to US before you go to UK and praying for your trip there.
I hope to do all overseas ones this weekend so mail on Monday.
I dont think your socks are boring. I think hand knit socks are truly amazing! I've never seen them here. But then we dont wear socks as much as you do.
Well better get moving. Its so good to see you blogging again, God is so good to us,
God bless and keep you Betsy. Shaz in Oz.x.
wow...you two really stay busy with such good projects. God bless you both. Love the socks you knit and all the other things you do to help people. Glad your test came out good and not another one for a year. yay! Take good care you too. Enjoy the nice weather while it lasts. diane in northern wis
ReplyDeleteYou are always the busy busy busy gal! Soooooo many socks and other things I've watched you make over the years. If I didn't have a skin issue with yarns, I would totally pay you to make me some socks. You and Dennis are such wonderful people, always doing for others... even if you're dangling from a rope on the roof. 🤣 Ahem... you know I do not like heights myself. But I've handed things up to Jerry on roofs, and that's okay for me since I stay on the ground. 😆 Seems rent and other prices are still going up. I'd hoped by now we would have seen a decrease, at least at the grocery store. But things are as bad as ever. I blame company greed. I will say, though, the gas is pretty cheap here.... about $2.39 right now (and I use my fuel points to reduce that when I have extra). I just sent you an email... and a P. S. email. I bet you guys are excited that you can go to London!!! Fun fun fun with family! Okay, signing off for now. Love and hugs and blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteYou have such great projects. Sad about your friend.
