The night I posted my last blog post, there was another shooting just a few blocks from our house. Several people were hurt badly and they were inside their house doing nothing wrong. A woman was just driving down the street shooting!. Interest rates are going up and we thought maybe we should make the move now. The next day we went out and got an apartment. We listed our house about 2:00 on Saturday and had four showings with three offers. The other one was going to make an offer but they didn’t qualify. Five other showings were canceled. In less than 21 hours the papers were signed accepting an offer on the house. We are frantically trying to get out because they want possession in two weeks. Wow! We were fortunate that we had already chosen where we were going to move to if we sold the house while waiting for a condo, so that worked out fine.
Dennis and I have filled the car and the truck up several times a day since Saturday. We’re moving everything we can by ourselves. On Friday we’re getting a U-Haul trailer and a couple of friends are going to help us move the sofa, dressers and freezer. Hopefully the two of us will have moved most everything else by then. Two huge house moves in two months is too much for old people! This will explain why I didn’t visit most blogs last night. When I sat down in my chair, I promptly fell asleep with my computer open in my lap. I’ll get back with you all as soon as I can and show you pictures. I do think we’re going to love this place. It’s only about five minutes from Mandy‘s family and about 10 from Mom’s new place.
We have signed a lease for this apartment for a year and hopefully during that time a condo will become available at the complex that we want to move to. The condo’s are halfway between Mandy‘s and Mom‘s and exactly where we want to be. We prefer to own rather than rent and that will hopefully be our last move ever. I’ll be back as soon as I can!
Blessings and love to you all,
Betsy
Thinking of you as you are packing up. That was a fast sale! Hope you like the apartment! :)
ReplyDeleteYour new place sounds like the location is ideal for visiting your relatives. Moving is so exhausting, especially when you do so much yourselves.
ReplyDeleteMoving is not something I enjoy but its always exciting to see what the Lord has in store.
ReplyDeleteI believe this is God’s will for you. It is all in his timing and it sounds like you picked the perfect time. Praying for you and the ones who buy your house. I do read your blog and enjoy it; although, I have never commented before. Diane in Tennessee
ReplyDeleteOh, good golly! I know just how you feel. We've moved here when a man with a gun chased my two boys home from the park on the corner when they interfered with him beating a woman. I called the real estate agent that night and we bought this house and moved in while we got the other house ready to sell. We slept on the floor here but my kids were safe. Sometimes you gotta go, when you gotta go. I feel that way about the trees but I can't convince The Mister.
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOODNESS. First, so grateful you are safe. Obviously this was meant to be. Your house selling so quickly, an available apartment and the ability to move quickly. Prayers a condo comes available when you are ready for your final move. So many changes so quickly! Everything is falling into place.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I had a feeling that's what was going on with you guys. Congratulations on getting the house sold so quickly. I wish we could go somewhere else, but, well... like they say, there are going to be problems wherever you go. *sigh* God watches over us no matter what, though! Now, go to sleep! Ha!
ReplyDeleteGod Bless You Betsy....I'm surprised to hear about your move but I can understand it completely. I'm glad you found an apartment to abide in while waiting for that condominium to open up. and wow...you already sold your house. That's amazing. May all go well for you from here on out. Will keep you and Dennis in prayers every day. Look forward to your next update when ever you finally get time to do it.
ReplyDeleteTake good care, you two. Glad you're in a safer place!
How scary to have shootings so close to your home. So glad you are safe and have found a safer place to live. Good luck with your move, make sure to get some rest and don't over exert yourselves.
ReplyDeleteYikes!!! I hadn't realized that where you lived wasn't that safe. Sorry about another move, but glad you are getting out of a bad situation. Thinking of you - take care!! And do send your new address, please.
ReplyDeleteWhen an opportunity knocks, it’s best to answer the door. I’m glad you have found a place to live and we’re able to sell your house so quickly. Best wishes on the move. Please share your address when you get a chance.
ReplyDeleteso grateful you are safe.Hope you like the apartment!
ReplyDeleteIt is good that you are in a safe, new place! It sounds like an incredible blessing how quickly everything fell into place.
ReplyDeleteYikes! That's certainly a quick move. Sending good vibes that everything goes as smoothly as possible for you!
ReplyDeleteWow! That was a fast turn around on your house! Glad you had already picked somewhere to move to. Moving is horrible. We have our house on the market and have lots of interest but it's an old, unique property and takes the right buyer with the right financing. I'm sort of hoping it doesn't sell so we don't hve the hassle of moving. Ha ha. Get some rest!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are moving closer to family and, hopefully, a safer neighborhood. Be careful and try not to overdue it.
ReplyDeleteI think you made a very wise decision. I would not be comfortable with such things going on. I pray your move will be accomplished as smoothly as possible for your sakes, and that when your apartment lease ends you’ll have a home.
ReplyDeletePeace,
Aimee
Everything seems to be falling into place very nicely. I'm glad you found a nice apartment also that your house sold so quickly. Hopefully moving everything out in TWO WEEKS won't be too terribly hard. Take care of yourself and take as much time as possible to rest.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to get an apartment to.live in and be away from area where things are not the best. I'm glad you were able to sell your house quickly. Obviously it was something God had for you and Dennis. I'm glad you're closer to Mandy and your mom in law ๐. Our air quality has not been good lately due to forget fires. AQ is 111. My sister who lives in WA ..AQ is 260. ๐ I hope and pray ๐ moving goes well, my friend. God bless. ...Becky
ReplyDeleteOh my! Glad you all are safe, and prayers for a smooth move. Moving is never fun.
ReplyDeleteHugs dear friend! You've been running at quite a pace lately! Glad you made the decision about moving then!

That is wonderful that you have found a place you like. :). Sending out prayers for you both sweet friend. Blessings always. ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteFlippin’ heck Betsy! That’s about the same pace u turn as our Prime Minister! Safe packing my dear. Don’t overdo it or you will do yourselves a mischief. Live from the uk.
ReplyDeleteWhoa Nellie! You 2 are movers and shakers! Congratulations and so happy you are getting a place where you won't have to worry about maintenance! It will great for all of you. Don't hurt yourselves!
ReplyDeleteWow, Betsy, I’m so happy you moved, I must confess I was concerned that you were staying out though I understood why. And so I prayed on.. Gid certainly has His hand on you … everything that happens in our lives is filtered through Hus hands so I’m thrilled it’s working out even if tire totally worn out by it all.
ReplyDeletePraying your poor back and busy hold up and that many helping hands make light work!
It’s wonderful that it sold so quickly as it wouldn’t here right now lbs most unusual to sell that fast.
Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

Dear Betsy! May God bless you and Dennis and give you the strength you need. That must have been so scary to have that shooting happen so close to home! Times are getting so dark. I am so happy to know you will be so much closer to Mandy and your mother-in-law. I hope a condo will open up for you all during this next year and trust you will enjoy your apartment. Many blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, what a story, but I know exactly where you're coming from. That was the reason we moved here (a shooting in our neighborhood) I felt so uncomfortable there that I didn't even want to walk to the mailbox.
ReplyDeleteI'm putting you and Dennis in my prayers, moving is a lot of hard work especially as we get older. Please take it as easily as you can and don't turn down any help that's offered. God bless you both.
Sometimes I think about selling while the market is hot, but then there is the actual moving part and change my mind. Hope you are settled soon.
ReplyDeleteOh dear Betsy. You must be exhausted. That is a lot of work for you and Dennis. Been a while since I've seen you, or your blog. The pictures of Piper in the last post are just beautiful. And, that little doggie all dressed up. You take care. Had to search for your blog.
ReplyDeleteDear Betsy, My heart goes out to you both, but you are using great wisdom! I am so thankful your home sold so fast. Take your time and ask for help from those that can! ! Sending prayers your way!! Hugs, Roxy
ReplyDeleteIt's obvious I've missed a lot around here. Glad you were able to make plans and move so quickly. Sounds like things will fall into place and you'll be right where you want to be before too long. Take care.
