I also made two pair of mittens today. I’m right on track for my goal. These two pair were made with Bernat Jacquard’s. It was part of the box of gift yarn that I received from my friend Kim at Napier‘s Knits.
Alex and Tara are still traveling around Japan while he works and meets with clients. I believe they are in Kyoto now. Tara is due to fly home early next week and we’re praying that the borders will all be open for her. Don’t they make a handsome couple?
My good friend Nita had to have a cardiac ablation yesterday. I spent almost all day at the hospital with her yesterday and took her home late in the evening. It amazes me that they can do something like that and send you home the same day! This was done at the same hospital that is treating four of the coronavirus patients from the Diamond Princess cruise ship. You would never know it though, because it was business as usual. It’s the same hospital I received my pacemaker at.
Today I had to go to the doctor myself and was diagnosed with a sinus infection. I figured that’s what it was and I had been trying to treat myself, but I didn’t want to go into the weekend with the headaches I was having. I’m now on antibiotics and hope they’ll kick in soon.
I have to admit that hearing the news about this virus is very worrisome, especially with having my children living all over the place. I’m trying to put my trust in God and leave it in His hands. I have always had a problem with anxiety and this definitely doesn’t help.
On a happy note, it was 63°F today. We haven’t had those warm temperatures since last October. Tomorrow is only supposed to be 40 so it’s short-lived but I’m certainly enjoying it. I even opened the patio door for awhile to get some fresh air into the house.
I hope you are all doing well and preparing for whatever might happen as best as you can.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Wow, that sweater is amazing! You are so brave to knit such a big project with dark yarn. We had blue skies here earlier today, too, but now it's raining.
ReplyDeleteCozy sweater for Dennis! I'm sure he'll enjoy it. It was warm 61 degrees Thurs. High fog clouds this a.m. tbem sun appeared. Windy. Sold out of N95 masks at hardware store. No returns allowed. One young man bought a lot. Many have been sold on eBay. Can't even get them anywhere any more. Wash your hands!! Feel sick and have fever? Stay home. Hope your son Alex and friend are ok. Just had friends fly to England Thurs. Hope It is ok over there! Have a blessed weekend my dear friend. Feel better!๐
ReplyDeleteBravo on completing the handsome sweater for Dennis and two more pretty pairs of mittens, dear Betsy! I too am amazed that folks can sometimes go home on the same day as having cardiac ablation...of the four friends I know who have had the procedure, I believe two were able to go right home and two had to stay in the hospital overnight. Thanks for sharing the parting encouraging verses!! Today I told an 83 year old friend that I am so grateful that God saw fit to have it recorded that "Jesus wept;" and He asked the Father to "take this suffering from Me." I believe Jesus understands anxiety and sorrow, but was able to model trust "Your will be done," and also had absolute authority to promise "I will never leave you or forsake you...I am with you always, even to the end of the age....My peace I give to you not as the world gives...." ๐๐๐
ReplyDeleteWow.. good job on the sweater finish!! I do hope you have Dennis model it for us when it's all dry and ready to go. They told Dayle he might need the ablation for his A-Fib. Poor guy has one thing after another. I know you can relate. Alex and his GF are adorable together. I do wish they lived in the same city and didn't have to jet around the globe to see each other. I am also worrying about him. My sister has been in S. America for 3 weeks and as you've probably heard there are many cases of Coronavirus there. They fly home tomorrow - 3 airports and 3 flights. I'm a nervous wreck about her being exposed to so many people. I can tell you I am not interested in flying anywhere in the near future. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteBlogger just ate my very long comment ... a brilliant make sis, wonderful care of dear Nita, pray you’re soon well again.
ReplyDeleteRe current fear mongering lies and half truths mixed with some truth but the media re virus sis. The truth is a lot is not known, a lot is guess work innuendo, the World has seen many issues blown out of proportion before and will again.
The LORD is still boss, despite Satan’s attempt to wrap us up in fear... as His Word says The LORD reigneth.
Not one single hair of the head of your dear ones will be harmed without His Holy Righteous just permission.
Satan loves to cause dramas. Good flu epidemic 1919. It was the worst ever right after WW1 in truth it was worse because it was influenza .. this is a virus. It is weather related in its spread. Winter = confined space. Easy transmission and warmer hot temps will kill it.
Fear is not of God.
Go hath not given us a spirit of fear
BUT POWER
LOVE
SOUND MIND.
This is a post on it. A different fear mongering even by Satan but same thing as now.

Curiously my current post today’s is on “Resting in His Love” that’s what is needed sis, very hard I know but needful.

Dennis's sweater turned out wonderful. How you get so much knitting done so quickly is beyond me! LOL! Alex and his girlfriend are simply adorable! Remember, you cannot get the time back from worrying about something that may never take place. Even if it does there is nothing you can do about it so "be happy" as the song says. Think about the worst case scenario and think how you would deal with it and then let it go.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the sweater finish!!! It looks like a cozy one. I hear you about the critter hair. I wore some black leggings to the store yesterday and when I looked down it looked like I was covered in pet hair. I need to start carrying a lint roller with me.
ReplyDeleteYour guy and his girl do make a beautiful couple! They just shut down the Baltimore Port and are only bringing in workers for short hours each day due to the disruption in the trade supplies. I have no idea what this means to us but it's probably not good.
Your words are so true, Betsy. "Preparing for whatever might happen as best as you can" is about the best we can do. I don't even know what to think anymore. This world gets darker and more scary by the day, and Jesus is our only hope. What would we do without having Him to put our hope and trust in? I have to remind myself often that He is in complete control, just as He has always been. Nothing surprises Him, and everything that touches our lives passes through His approval first. I just cannot get it off my mind about the young Mennonite lady (Sasha Krause) being murdered, and I will never understand why something like that would be permitted to happen to such a devout, Godly Christian. Every promise in the Bible must surely be presenting so many hard questions to the minds of everyone who loved her, and my heart goes out to everyone who is hurting. SO much worry, pain, and heartache with so many unanswered questions, but one day, we will be in Heaven with Him and nothing will ever be able to worry us again.
ReplyDeleteWow! All that ribbing with dark yarn. It must be true love! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the mittens!
Wishing your friend a speedy recovery and safe travels for the kids.
Dennis's sweater is beautiful. You did such a good job.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is amazing at how fast they can do procedures and send you home. I was thinking the other day, that I remember when my mom had my baby sister she stayed in the hospital for 5 days. Now you are in and out before you know it, baring health issues.
I wish you a blessed weekend
Beautiful finish on the sweater! Yes we are concerned about the virus here too but clearly not as much as people in big cities. I can isolate my husband everyday except one day a week that he has to go to the infusion center. We will put it in Gods hands as he has a plan for all of us:)
ReplyDeleteThe sweater is amazing. I like the dark colour but, yes, cat and dog hair will definitely show.
ReplyDeleteI don't really know what cardiac ablation involves but it seems surprising that someone would go home the SAME DAY.
I hope your children are safe and come home very soon.
I hope your sinus infection clears up quickly.
You have been so busy my Friend. Alex is adorable with Tara, I am hoping all their travels are safe. The virus is indeed scary, at least whet you hear about it is. However I read an article about how South Korea has healed the patients they have and they have been discharged with no deaths, so there is hope. Maybe it will just burn itself out like those big viruses that have scared us in the past. Sending love and healing to your friend and to you always Betsy.
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the sweater; it's gonna keep your man plenty warm! (even with Chloe's hair)
ReplyDeletehow do you knock out so many pairs of mittens-wow!
Congratulations on the sweater finish! Can't believe you knit it so quickly. Alex & Tara are so cute together (she looks cold in that picture!!). Love those mittens too - so pretty and colorful. I hear you about the virus - it is very difficult not to worry.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are very nice! Cute couple and great mittens. By the way, I noticed you have my blog listed as one that you follow. However, there is an extra R in there and it takes a person to a different place! Thought you should know since you were so nice to share that you read my silly blog!
