We made it home!

Good Monday Morning Everyone!  We made it hope safely yesterday after just one night in the camper.  It was sooo soggy and wet out.  I'm sorry, on my iphone I didn't realize how blurry the picture of the bed was or I wouldn't have posted it.  The flowered thing on the sofa is an old sheet so Chloe wouldn't get the sofa muddy.  It was her first time camping and she was a trooper.  More than I was, I think.  There were a few glitches along the way.  There was a wrench lost somewhere along the way that helps remove the hitch thingy. We aren't even sure they gave it to us since they hooked everything up for us when we picked the camper up on Saturday.  It will be around $39 to replace.

We discovered that the hot water tank leaked all over the floor while I was washing dishes yesterday morning.  And the grand finale, when we got home and was cleaning everything up, (in the sunshine when we got home, of course), that one of the mattresses on a bed we didn't use has black mold all over it.  Apparently the owners before us put it away wet or something and it is disgusting.  I don't think you can get rid of mold on a porous surface like a mattress. Since we bought it used, there is no warranty.  The camper sales office is closed today, but I'm going in tomorrow with pictures and hope they will offer to replace it and help us out with the leak.  Obviously we didn't cause either since we just got it.

Here are a few more pictures that I took with the "real" camera.  This was our dinner Saturday night.  All made at home because I knew it would be late when we arrived.  Fried chicken, pasta salad and deviled eggs.

The bed was really comfy and cozy.  It got down to 35 degrees Saturday night and we weren't cold at all.  The furnace worked very well too.  I guess this can't really be called "camping."
Hubby deep into his Bible study.
Me reading my "important" material!  LOL  We played dominoes for a few hours Saturday night too.
The view from the doorway.  A/C on the roof even.  My aren't we spoiled?
Potty, shower and sink.  We didn't use the shower, but the potty was nice.  We didn't have to walk to the public restroom in the pouring rain during the night.  Hubby said it was a snap to empty and service too.
The refrigerator is HUGE!  I think I could easily get two weeks of food in it.
View from the other end.  The sofa and table area make into two more beds to be able to sleep 8.
Ten granny squares I made this weekend to send to Japan for the blanket they are trying to make to get into the Guiness Book of World Records as the largest granny afghan in the world. It will then be divided up to make individual blankets for the shelters.
All in all, it was an "okay" weekend.  Very stressful in many ways.  I'm still not sure if this is going to be "my thing" or not.  Sometimes I think we're trying to relive the wonderful camping vacations with our kids that we had years ago.  We have such good memories.

I came home with a stye in my eye.  I've never had one before.  My daughter the nurse says they can be caused by stress and a weak immune system, of which I have both.  I've been putting warm compresses on it.  Any other advice?  It is really irritating and a bit painful.

God watched us through the weekend and many things that could have gone wrong that might have been much more serious than the things that did  happen.  It was very stressful for hubby to take care of all the new stuff and I worry about him.  I've been trying for over 50 years to turn the worry over to God, and then I pull it back like He can't handle my petty issues.  I am a pitiful creature.

Have a wonderful Monday and I'll see you again soon.

Blessings,

Betsy

  2. Hi Betsy, that looks a great van! Love the blanket. Don't know if you visit Lucy but she is having lots of fun doing up her van http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/. Hope you can get the mattress replaced.
Wishing you lots of lovely holidays in your van.

  3. Love all the granny squares you made. Turning worries over to God is something that, I think, takes a lot of practice. Like you, I can give my worries to God, then just a few hours later, I have taken them all back, to my detriment. I am working on this (let go and let God) with some things with my children right now. Looks like once you get the gliches worked out you will have a nice camper for making some memories. Hope your sty is better soon.

  4. my4lilgirls-Thank you for your kind comment. Yes our Bibles go everywhere with us, including one on my phone and ipad! Nothing beats good old-fashioned paper reading though.

Carol-Yes, I follow Lucy at Attic24. I love her projects and her blog inspired the throw on the back of the sofa in the camper! I don't have a link to the granny project but you can find details on Ravelry at the Charity Craft for the month group. I'll try to get you more information if you would like me to.

The Jones Family-Thank you for your kind comment also. My sister tells me I've been a worrier since the day I was born. She is just the opposite and say's I got all the "worry genes". :-) I do try my best to let it go, but sometimes, a lot of the time, I find myself worrying again.

    Blessings,

    Betsy

  5. I read 1Kings 17-20 this morning and even after God perfomed amazing signs through Elijah, Elijah prayed to die when faced with some challenges...oh my!

As you sort through solutions to mold and leaks and a sty, I am cheering you on:)

    Joy to you and yours!
