Veterans Day

Today is a day to say thank you and to remember all who have served in the military, including my husband Dennis, United States Air Force, my brother Roger, United States Navy, my brother-in-law Mike, United States Army, and my father Melvin, WWII United States Navy.  I appreciate you all and all of those who served alongside of you and gave everything for our freedoms.  My Dad and Mike have passed on, but their legacy remains of their love for their country.

My Mom and Dad in 1944.

And on their wedding day April 1, 1944.  I wore her dress when Dennis I got married.

I knit quite a bit yesterday on Dennis’s sweater, but my hands began to hurt, so just before bed I started a crocheted dishcloth.  A new pattern for me but super simple.

Here’s where I am right now.  Frannie is modeling both projects for me. :-)

Alex is in London for the weekend and knows how much his Dad loves Sherlock Holmes books.  We have actually visited 221B Baker Street when we were in London last time.  Here is a picture he sent us last night standing by a Sherlock Holmes statue.  He sent a bunch of photos last night and made sure to tell me that “I visited your favorite museum Mom.  The Victoria and Albert museum.”  I love this boy.  It looks like he is having great weather for his visit.

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharply another.” Proverbs 27:17

I’m praying continually for everyone affected by the horrendous fires in California.  My heart breaks for them. Please remember them as you go about your day today.

Blessings,
Betsy

  7. Love your photos and so cool that you and your Mom both wore the same dress for your weddings. You are making progress on that sweater Betsy!!! My hands were hurting after knitting on Saturday...not sure if it was the cold or my arthritis or a combination. luckily, they were better yesterday.

  8. What a handsome young man your son is and a real credit to you. What a joy for him to visit all your favourite haunts to get photos for you. My heart goes out to all those affected by the fires, what a tragedy.

  10. So enjoyed the good news of your visits with your children, and as always I admire your prolific stitching! One of my small group church friends has an 85-year-old cousin who lived in Paradise. She has been unable to contact her...and I have been praying she will make contact and be comforted as she waits. xx
