At first the pacemaker only fired when her heart didn't work correctly, but eventually they had to cut the nerve supply to her natural pacemaker and allow the mechanical pacemaker to do the entire joy. The natural pacemaker was just too confused and not working correctly (it was damaged during radiation treatment for breast cancer). After about a year of frequent doctor visits and hospitalizations, everything started working correctly. They reduced her frequency of check ups to yearly. After her last battery change, the cardiologist told her she didn't need to come back for 5 years. She was very happy about that. At this time, her heart and pacemaker are not limiting her life at all. Trust God, trust your doctors, but ask lots of questions. And if something doesn't make sense ask. My son got his pacemaker at age 14 and has just undergone another heart surgery to replace the mitral valve they did at the same age. The sutures were not holding up but that was 21 years ago. He is doing fine and I know you will also. I am sorry your brother is ill, and hope that the doctors are able to help him get better. My 94 year old uncle got a pacemaker just a few days before I visited last Fall, and is still doing well. My father-in-law had a pacemaker for many years and died in his 90's. You have many years to go before you get to your 90's! Your latest knitting projects will be a precious blessings to some babies Your rose is lovely and so are you. Sending you lots of hugs of encouragement, and I really appreciate the verses the Lord impresses you to share. Love, Gracie xx<br />P.S. You lead such a healthy and honorable and giving life, I just don't think this is fair at all. I will say a prayer for you now. You need some diversion - a movie? Book? I like that new pattern you're working on.. I am going to go back and look at it again. We packed today and made reservations for a stopover in Las Vegas. Then we're off to the Grand Canyon. First stop is Lake Tahoe. I hope we make it and don't find we made a mistake with such a long trip!
