March already?

Hello everyone!  I've been doing lots of knitting this past week, but it's been mittens for the most part so not much new to show you.  Right now I'm sitting at the tire place having my snow tires removed and have no knitting pictures on my iPad to show you at all.  I can't believe that I'm changing my tires so early...and I hope we don't regret it, but it's been consistently in the 40's and 50's and I have the kind of tires that will melt if the pavement gets too warm.  I don't want to wear them out by using them when not needed, so off they'll come.  No snow forecast at all and I think any that we might get probably won't last too long anyway.

Dennis and I went out to the lake and hiked in last Saturday since the gate is still locked just to check things out.  Can you see the thin layer of ice on the water?  We saw lots and lots of trees down from the big windstorm a couple of months ago.  There is a huge pine tree laying across two of the docks and one that knocked a cabin off of it's foundation.  I love this view.
My summer home.  It looks a bit rough right now with everything still stowed away for winter, but in a few months we'll be back enjoying summertime.  :-)
A view from inside.  I was sitting on the sofa looking out the door.  That's the top of Larry and Nita's camper at the bottom of the picture.
And here's my little Easter tree.  I got the eggs a few years ago and just put a pussy willow branch in a Starbucks latte bottle filled with birdseed.  It works!
I had another cardiologist visit this morning. I DID NOT like the new PA that I saw.  That's unusual for me.  She was very young and basically said that in her opinion I was making the tachycardia up.  Seriously?  She was looking at a printout of my latest pacemaker download that showed I was still having episodes between Feb. 5 and yesterday when they requested me to send a report in.  I can't make that up!!! That report showed my heart beating between 145-210 beats a minutes on several different occasions.  So then she did her own report with the little pacemaker machine and she said, "oh my goodness, you're in tachycardia right now".  Well duh.  I had just told her that I could feel it happening while we were talking.  She doubled the medication I'm taking that is supposed to be fixing the issue so we'll see.  Gosh, I was irritated with her.  I don't seem to fit in the "box" of normal, so of course I must be making things up.  I will NOT see her again.  I think I can refuse and request someone else, can't I?

Can you tell I'm irritated?  Sorry.  Now I'm venting.  Rant over.

It's raining cats and dogs out today.  I miss the blue skies but we need the rain.  At least we had a nice weekend and enjoyed some outside time.  We had a missionary stay with us from Voice of the Martyrs Sat. and Sun. night.  He was really interesting to talk to.  He was just in Iraq 5 weeks ago and has been to Syria and Afghanistan recently too.  He's been in over 50 countries in all.  Right now they are heavily involved in helping the Christian refugees whose families are being killed by ISIS.  They have been forced to abandon their homes, jobs and all they know just to save their lives.  It is so sad to hear.  I think that, especially here in the U.S., we feel it can't happen here.  I pray that is correct but we can never be sure.  Please keep these innocent victims in your prayers for safety.

On a happier note, I've had fun talking on the phone to several of you ladies in the past week.  If any of you would like the mitten pattern, I have it on my phone and can text or email it now.  Just send me an email, or if you have my phone number feel free to call or text.  I would love for you all to have the same fun I am.  I've also crocheted 12 bookmarkers for gifts this week.  I'll try to remember to take a picture for my next post.

Have a lovely day my friends and Happy March!

"Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His name; make known among the nations what He has done." Psalm 105:1

Blessings,
Betsy

  1. I would certainly request a new PA next time. Who has time to put up with that attitude?! Be well!

  3. I can understand how you felt about the PA. I hope you don't ever have to see her again. The camper is looking good. I'm glad you've been able to get up there to start getting everything ready for the season. You'll have a very nice summer, I'm sure. I hope you continue to feel better all the time, Betsy. Take care and enjoy your week.

  4. Betsy, you need to call that medical office asap and report her behavior to the office manager and tell them that under no circumstances do you want to be seen by her in the future. The office needs to know how she is treating good patients. I had a male dental hygienist who actually left in the MIDDLE of my tooth cleaning to go to the bathroom!! I told the receptionist on the way out I never wanted him to work on me again. I hope your Spring keeps on coming.. it's wonderful here. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  6. ah so true Betsy we are so blessed where we live are we now .. and yes we need to pray for all men everywhere that they may be saved and know eternal as well earthly peace ..
What we are blessed with we need to pray for them. No you are not wrong in wanting a doctor to respect what you say.
    She was obviously
    1. having a bad day
    2. out of her depth
so attacked the validity of what you said as her best means of defence, not really very medically sound step.

I know where you are coming from..
I dont fit into the normal mould medically speaking either so have met with that sort of response...
Beyond their ken so you must be wrong... and I had a top Professor in top teaching hospital tell me that.
... The funny fact is to get normal most people are eiher side of it very few are really normal :D

  7. How wonderful to be able to get out to your beautiful summer home, it won't be long and you will be making trips out there again. You certainly have a stunning view. Hope they manage to sort out your heart episodes and that you get to see someone different, take care.

  8. I don't blame you for being upset about the PA. I do hope the new dose of med works. Will keep you in my prayers sweet friend. :) Oh the lake, even frozen, looks lovely. Soon it will be summer and the joys of the lake will be yours again. :) Wishing you a day filled with many blessings sweet friend. :)

  9. How dare she? What kind of bedside manner is that? What would she even base such a comment on when she has never even seen you before? I would say it is definitely fair to request someone else next time. I don't think anyone is actually normal when it comes to health issues -- we are each unique and what works for one may not work for another. Hopefully all will be sorted out so that when the time comes, you can truly enjoy your summer home.

As for the sickos of this world, it truly is unbelievable what evils they are capable of. They have no respect for anything or anyone and are fighting for nothing expect power and ego which is the source of all strife.

Take care of yourself, Betsy. Happy March!

  10. Hello Betsy - how I love the look of your summer home. Sorry to hear of your experience with medical staff. Have had similar - it really is not acceptable. Every night I pray for those who are suffering due to ISIS and others- I quite despair at times. Do take care. Anne x

  11. Ditto for me about the PA!!! So glad you got to tromp around the lake a bit. I forget that you are at a higher altitude until I see a photo like yours of the lake...with ice...in March! Brrrrrr. I got to swim in the lane between two splashy young men today. They made the water so turbulent Teresa and I were not very happy! We got worn out from their waves bashing us, but we did get good exercise. Love to you, dear Betsy. xx

  12. Yes, you can definitely refuse to see her. I believe I would contact the office now and let them know about her attitude and that you don't want to see her again. That is very unprofessional. Doug's doctor didn't believe he could feel the difference the magnet made when they checked his pacemaker until he had Doug close his eyes and then watched him. Why doctors don't believe that we are aware of out bodies is beyond me. Maybe because there are quite a few out there who aren't really feeling things but want the attention and meds?

I hope Spring is showing up soon. We are suppose to have temps in the uppers 60's and low 70's next week but right now, we are in the mid 30's and low 40's. I'm ready for sunshine and flowers.

    Sending you hugs,
    Sharon

  13. Hello Betsy,
Shame on that PA for making you feel that way!! Do not see her again!!!
Loved seeing the trailer. Do you tow with a truck? We have been looking at trailers. I have a Yukon Danali, but it still has a weight limit The trailers I like, with pop outs and much more room, are going to be a bit dicey as far as towing goes. We are going to see the Minnie Winnie trailers this weekend. I am itching to get back to the lake!!!
    Lots of love your way!

  14. As a retired Nurse I strongly encourage you to drop that PA like a hot potato. of course you can request another provider. If your doctor and nurses don't listen to you, go elsewhere .YOu are your own best advocate. My friend ended up having an ablation for her runs of tachycardia. She is a marathoner and the ablation needed to be done twice. Take good care of your ticker

  15. You sure can refuse to see her again. If she does not understand you then you need someone who does. She sounds very young and not very experienced, still that is not an excuse for her.
Love that you got up to the trailer, I know that is your happy place.
    Hugs to you Betsy,
    MEredith
