Is it Spring?

Happy Tuesday!  I'm going to apologize in advance for these terrible pictures.  I took them last night long after the sun had gone down, so they're pretty dark, especially the first one.  But, I wanted you to see that I really did decorate a little for Valentine's Day this year.  With all of the "stuff" happening here, I just never got a picture to show you.  These hearts are Teresa's Scandinavian heart pattern that I made into a garland.  This morning I put out the St. Patrick's garland but I thought I should share this with you before I take a picture of the new one.  :-)
A rainbow of mittens.
At last count there were 27 pairs in the bag for next winter.

The past few days I have been making a pair of mittens and then knitting a few rows on my "Zilver" shawl.  It's a free pattern on Ravelry and very easy if you're thinking of making a shawl.  I desperately needed to make something other than mittens for a change.  It's fun and mindless. I'm using Caron Simply Soft yarn in Country Blue.
Yes, these are fake flowers but I still like them.  My little birds are out and waiting for spring!
We sent our Grandson Caleb, money for Christmas and for his birthday and he's been saving it up.  This weekend he finally had enough to buy the Millineum Falcon Lego set.  Jamie said it took them 6 hours to put it together.  Isn't he the cutest thing?
Our weather has been warm and sunny/rainy/sunny.  But no snow here in the Valley.  Lots in the mountains.  This is just the way I like it.  We are getting the mountain snow that will help with the fire season this coming summer, but we don't have to deal with it here.  Temperatures in the 40's and 50's!  I'll take it.  Unusual for February to say the least.

Dennis went back to work a short day yesterday.  Only 7 1/2 hours and he's supposed to do the same today.  He usually works 11-12 hour days with no breaks for lunch or coffee.  I drove him yesterday to make sure he came home early.  He promised me he will do the same today.  It's amazing the difference a week has made.  The doctor told us another day or two and he may not have survived.  As soon as he came out of surgery he felt great.  It was like night and day.  He is very tired still, but I think that's from undergoing general anesthesia twice in three days.  They tell him that can take weeks to get out of your system.  I'm so happy that he seems so much better.

I am also doing better but having a difficult time adjusting to my medicines.  Thank you for all of your sweet thoughts and prayers.

I'm so thankful for the sunshine.  It does seem to help.  I hope you are all having a wonderful week.

"I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one." John 10:28-30

(I have no idea why part of this printing is underlined and color changed and the rest is normal. I guess it's Blogger doing it's thing!)

Blessings always my sweet friends,
Betsy

  1. Your grandson looks so proud of his Falcon. We have been through stages of Star Wars, hah.
You are doing well with those mittens.
SO glad your husband is feeling better. I remember when I had my gall bladder out that I was not in pain but extremely tired. But I get that way with most things.
Which meds are you having trouble with. I just wish I could go off of some of mine.
We have lots of snow today. My puppy's belly is dragging in it.
    Hugs

  2. You're doing so well on the mittens! And your shawl is just gorgeous! I enjoyed seeing your heart garland.. makes me smile. I'm so glad you were not on a cruise when Dennis fell ill.. it's scary to think of. I wish he didn't have to go back to work so soon.. and I can't believe it's legal for him to work such long hours without lunches and breaks. :-( I'm glad for you that you aren't buried in snow during all this. Miss you. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  6. Hi Betsy. So glad to hear that Dennis is up and at em'. He does need to take it easy, so I am glad you are insisting that he do so. And also am glad to hear that you too are feeling a bit better. It is hard adjusting to proper meds.
You are so fast with your knitting. All of those beautiful mittens! So wonderful. And I love the scarf. Such a pretty color!
Your grandson is a cutie. How old is he? My grandson Noah, has no interest in Star Wars. We keep trying to get him to watch .
    Loved your Valentine décor too.
Hugs to you Betsy. And thank you for your lovely comments on my blog!
    XO Kris

  7. It's a good thing that Dennis is doing well and thankful that he's back at work, slowly. I like the shawl idea. I will check that out. I need to go on Ralvery to check out some patterns since I bought some yarn yesterday in Silverton while Megan and I were out and about. I have an idea to make a throw for a wedding gift. Just need to find it. Underline issue is you probably have the U on your post clicked and that's why it's all underlined. It's right next to I for italics and bold. Oh the big Lego set is cool. Glad Caleb could save up for what he wanted. Take care and stay warm.

    1. Hey Becky. Thanks for the info on the underlining. I see the B and the I...but there's not even a U there! What's with that? Crazy blogger!! Thanks anyway.

  9. Wow that is a lot of pretty mittens. This is my first visit here so I don't know about who will receive the mittens, or about Dennis, but I am glad to hear he is recovering. Nice to meet you here. Come on over to my blog and say hi if you like.

  10. Sweet garland. Glad to hear Dennis is getting better. Sure hope you get yourself sorted out and feeling much better, too. Taking medication and getting the dosage just right is a tricky thing. The mittens really are amazing. You certainly manage to get so much done despite what's been happening lately. That is one awesome starship! My college boy was a Lego lover when he was little. Take care! Hugs and blessing, Tammy

  12. I am so glad Dennis is feeling better and that you are keeping an eye on him, he is just the type to feel better and do to much to fast. As for you y dear Betsy, I am sending you positive thoughts for those medicines to start behaving. I have kept you both close to my heart as you are traveling these difficult days. You are the best with those mittens, and you are right your grandson is a cutie,

  14. I love your hearts and mittens (and my mittens :) I was showing my mittens to Joy this morning and she admired them as well.
Jason's mom introduced me to Caron's Simply Soft when she made bibs for the girls. I admired how sturdy and soft they were and bought some of the yarn to make some bibs with it, too. I can imagine your shawl will be awesome to cuddle under. The pattern is pretty. Caleb's Lego ship is amazing, and I am impressed that he saved up to buy it! He is a handsome, determined young man. It is so wonderful Dennis is feeling better, but I join the chorus urging him to get plenty of rest to completely heal. I had one laparoscopic surgery to remove my gallbladder and went back to work three days later, and remember feeling well, but very tired.
I am glad that your meds are getting sorted out, Betsy, and am praying that God will fill you with amazing joy and peace as you heal completely. I love and miss you and think of you every day. xx
