Monday, Monday

There I was on Friday afternoon at the lake.  It was 103F outside so I sat inside the trailer with the A/C on full blast, Sophie on my lap and crocheted the afternoon away while watching TV.  Nita and Lori were swimming in the lake but I'm not allowed to do that.

I want to thank each one of you for the sweet comments and all of the love you've shown me over the past few weeks.  I can't believe how much it means to me to have you all thinking of me and praying for me. It was a rough weekend pain wise.  My sweet Mandy has made me put another call into the doctor this morning.  I haven't heard from them yet.  She said I shouldn't be having this much swelling and pain almost four weeks after surgery.  I hope they have some answers.  Now, enough of that.  There were some pleasant moments.

This was sunset Friday night.  They took me to the beach in the golf cart so I could at least wade in the lake after it cooled off a bit. (I think it was about 90F).  Look at that sunset.

Just a few minutes later... We have so many fires burning up here right now.  Friday night there was one about 15 miles away from our trailer.  It went from 10 acres to over 200 in just a few hours.  I think it's in the "mop up" stage now.

This was the plume of smoke we saw when it first began.

Larry and Dennis during my wading excursion.

The sky on Saturday.  Smoke from the Chelan, WA fire and the Ford, WA fire were both drifting directly over us.  It doesn't look much better today here in Spokane.  It reeks of smoke when we go outside.  Since it was so nasty we had to stay inside the trailer on Saturday, we decided to come home after dinner.  Compare this with my normal gorgeous blue sky and lake photos.  So sad.  But there were still skiers out there!

I did get all of these hats made while sitting inside the trailer Friday and Saturday!
Now I'm off to the airport to pick up my sister and brother in law.  They'll be here until Saturday.  It will be SO good to see them.
Blessings and much love to you all.
Betsy

  3. Wow, look at you go on the hats! You're amazing!

    I hope the doctor can do something to speed up your healing! Enjoy your time with your sister and BIL - I hope they take care of you and not vice versa. Sorry about your fires.. not good. It's cooled down here in Corbett, we're at 80 outside. Have fun with your family and I hope you get well fast! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  5. So sorry to hear you are still having problems with recovery :( I'm still asking the Lord to speed and complete your healing. I just got back yesterday afternoon from a wonderful week of tenting at the beach, and then am supposed to start driving early Thursday with my youngest son to Burbank, CA, to celebrate my sister and brother-in-law's 50th wedding anniversary. Have a wonderful visit with your family! xx PS The hats are precious :)

  8. Glad you are ok and hopefully the pain will go away very soon, but probably not soon enough for you, right? Wow, that's a lot of little hats to make in a day! Sunset photo is nice. We had a nice one the other nite and I took photos of it and of the rose bush in our neighbor's lawn that also had a sprinkler going so that was a cool shot....literally as well! I think it was Fri as it was 103 here! Too HOT!!! Glad it is cooler this week.Hope you hear from your doctor soon and get some answers. Hugs and prayers!!! May God give you peace in this weary, but healing time and rest well, my friend. Enjoy your family visit!!! :0}

  11. I'm glad to see you've been able to do a little more now at the lake. Wading is always nice when it's hot. It's such a shame about the fires. We often have them here too but not this year because it has been unusually wet. I hope they can put the fires out soon before there is any more damage. I've seen them in the news in California too. Take care, Betsy. I hope you're feeling better very soon.

  12. I'm crossing my fingers and toes for you that you get some answers too. I don't see how you are getting well with all the company you've been having and are going to have. I cannot truly rest when I have people in my house! Maybe you need to take a couple of weeks, just you and Dennis, without any outside stressors. I know you don't think they are stressing you, but I bet they are in ways you have no idea about. You need quiet solitude! Okay, I will shut up about that now. I know people are different and handle stress and become stressed in different ways. I'm concerned for you and hope you are feeling better very soon.

  13. Oh Betsy, I do so wish that I lived near you, so that I could cook for you, and visit. You have been very much on my mind, and of course, in my prayers. I hope you go see the doctor about the pain that you are still havinf

  15. Dear Betsy, the love you send through your posts and your comments has made us all very fond of you and that's no wonder you've received such support; you are really a very special person. I hope the news from the doctor was good but take your time; it actually scared me to see you in the water, you have to take it easy ! Those photos of the fires in the distance are frightening; our governments have to do something about climatic changes ! xxx
