Saturday with my girls

Hello my friends.  Grandma is happy.

There have been lots of fun times to be enjoyed and many snuggles with my precious Piper since I arrived on the east coast on Tuesday.  You can tell Piper loves her new "Sofia the First" dress I brought to her.  Smiles from both of us.
Here we are "knitting" together.  That's a circular needle in Pipers hand that she's showing to Mama.  I'm winding yarn into a ball for her to use.
Concentration. It's important!
She loves the "choo-choo" blanket I made for her, much to Daddy's dismay.  Most of you know he's a pilot, hence the name "Piper".  For those of you who don't know the story, he proposed to Mandy while flying in a Piper airplane.  Piper loves airplanes, but for now she's equally entranced with trains.
Here we are on a walk today.  She's rockin those sunglasses isn't she?
Oh. My. Goodness!  I am so in love with this little girl
With her help I finished her sweater on Friday that I started Monday night.  Admittedly, for the most part, I only knitted during her nap time after I arrived.  There is too much playing and talking to do when she's awake.

I love this little sweater.  It was very easy and goes from newborn to size 5-6.  I'll try to remember to post the link to it when I get home. If I forget and you want it, please remind me.  It's free on Ravelry.
Aren't the little eyelets cute?  The buttons are "sparkly", which Piper loves.
An osprey nest a couple of blocks from the house in the Cheasapeake Bay.  Can you see the Mama sitting on the nest?
I was so happy that it was as if I had just seen Piper yesterday when I arrived.  She loves me.  Mandy NEVER leaves her because she doesn't really know anyone here.  And yet, she's left me with Piper several times in the past few days and it doesn't bother Piper at all.  I guess she feels safe with me and I'm so glad.  I always have the fear she will forget me and all of the time we've spent together since she was born.

Brad has been so busy since I arrived.  He works 13-14 hour days and then has come home every night and worked outside in the rain building the deck.  He's also put in a vinyl fence all around the property in the last month or so.  This morning he left for New Orleans for several days for work, so it's "girl time" here.  :-). I do hope he gets some extra sleep while he's there.  I think he works waaaay too hard.

Dennis is at the lake without me tonight.  He has called and FaceTimed several times today.  Gosh, I miss him and he seems to miss me too.  We never do very well apart, but I also need my Piper fix!

My phone died completely yesterday and so I ended up at Verizon in Annapolis getting a new IPhone 6.  It's always such a drawn out process in getting a new phone.  If I had been home, I think I would have just bought one online and activated it.  Now the contract has changed, blah, blah, blah, new rules of data usuage apply, blah, blah, blah.  I have to learn the limits since I had unlimited data before.  I do like the new phone though.

And now I need to go to sleep.  Days begin early around here with a toddler.  Have I told you lately how much I love this little girl-and her Mama too?

"Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground." Psalm 143:10

Blessings,
Betsy

  2. I'm so happy that you get to spend time with your 2 girls. I'm so happy to get to see my 2 little granddaughters in about 6 weeks. Only for 4 days though. Dayle is not happy to be gone for 3.5 weeks as it is. Have a great time and I hope you share some new photos soon. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  3. Looks like you and the girls are having a fantastic time! I love the sweater that you have made, it is a long time since I did any serious knitting, may have a go during my summer holiday if I have the opportunity - for me it always takes waaaaay more concentration than crochet and what with my day job I like to do some crafting of an evening that doesn't exert the little grey cells!

Continue to have a wonderful time, and congrats on your new phone - even if it was a faff to get it. The last phone I bought it took 3 visits to the shop and endless security checks to be sure we are who we say we are - sign of the times I guess.

  8. Hi Betsy, it looks like you're having a very nice time with your girls. I'm glad you made it there safely and that you've been able to spend time with them again. The sweater you knitted is so pretty. I love the color. Piper is getting so big and she looks like a real firecracker. I love the photo of her in the sunglasses. I hope you continue to have a nice visit and a safe trip home too. Take care and have a good week.

  11. Piper is "rocking" those sunglasses! I can't believe she's learning to knit.....she'll probably pick it up faster than I did!
Love the Osprey picture and the sweater is darling. I need to look for some boy sweaters for the grandsons but I need to finish the items I have started for them first! LOL!
I did not know the story of how Piper got her name! Very meaningful.....she'll love to hear that as she gets older.
Glad you are enjoying your time.

  12. The sweater looks great. I think children that have grandparents who are very present in their lives really benefit from that security and love. I'm not surprised Piper trusts and feels comfortable with you. How great for your daughter also, to feel comfortable leaving her. Enjoy every minute with your girls.

  13. Glad you are having a good time. I need to get up and see my grandchildren soon. Not seen them since Easter. Sigh! Piper is so cute and love those sunglasses. Hope you got your new phone figured out. I don't like getting a new phone either. Today I actually looked at a couple wallets that my smart phone would fit into. I've thought about getting one but haven't really looked for one...yet! Enjoy your time away with Piper and Mandie! Hugs!

  17. The sunglasses are definitely keepers :) ...Piper is thriving and I am so glad you are having a good visit with this branch of your family. I also, love the sweater you made for Piper! Thanks for sharing all the neat photos, including the one of the osprey...they are a bird I am unfamiliar with, and I find their nesting spot to be most interesting! When I got back from camping my great niece, Laura in her early 20's who is from NE was here for a visit. We enjoyed her so much, but had to take her to the airport early this morning so she could fly down to visit with my oldest sister...her Gran :) Blessings to you and yours and thank you so much for sending the good photos of our last gathering. How did your heart monitor test come out????? xx
